What a fabulous place to spend Christmas with our family. Everyone was able to wind down, and get cozy. We had plenty of opportunity to explore the nearby ruins, interact with the ranch animals, and enjoy quality time in the Pioneer House. The attention to detail was well noticed. We brought food, and never had to go into town which was nice. The fresh eggs, and meat made our experience that much better. All of the decor is shared with love and nostalgia from Garry and Ming. Everything has a rich story, which made our stay that much more heartwarming. Also, Dolores the Great Pyrenees dog was our Shepard and accompanied us on our property walks. She reminded me of my Great Pyrenees growing up. ☺️ We highly recommended this place for any families looking for a unique and new place to unplug and unwind!

Ming and Garry are perfect hosts and the Stone house is SO comfortable and beautiful — home away from home. Art treasures in every room. You can feel the love in the entire Ranch!

The whole family loved our stay at the ranch. The hospitality from the owners and staff was exceptional and the views so picturesque! The accommodations are beautifully rustic and the animals so friendly (our boys would have been content playing with them all day). The ranch is rich in history itself and it’s the perfect home base for exploring the stories landscapes of the area. It’s a must stay in SW Colorado!

A fabulous place — peaceful and welcoming. So glad we found it! Loved the hospitality, the accommodations, the animals, and the fresh eggs for breakfast! Wonderful guided tour with Yousif and Gary made us feel right at home.

If I could only use one word to describe this place it would be “paradise”. This place is a hidden gem and Gary, Ming and the small crew of staff here instantly make you feel like family. We knew within 5 minutes of arriving here that we had to stay longer than we had planned. Most places in this country instantly greet you with the standard contrived version of hospitality but here it is absolutely genuine. Make sure you take a hike with Yousef too. He’s the local geologist and all round cool dude. This place is now at the top of my list of perfect places to visit anywhere on this planet.

Gary and Ming was amazing host. Stayed in the Wagstaff cabin 2 summers ago and I highly recommend it. Beautiful scenery and lots to do in the surrounding area. Hoping to return soon and stay again. Thank you Gary and Ming for an amazing memory to always reflect back on.

Indulge yourself in the natural and man-made wonders around this area, surrender to the total relaxation in the farm, and have the best lamb chops on your dinning table! Make a stop to the winery next door to further enrich your memory. My little boys call this ranch house the best place for fun on earth ❤️

Have you ever loved a place so much that you don't want anyone else to know about it? Well, that's it for us. In spite of ourselves we will let you know that this is the happiest you will ever be. From the beautiful ranch houses, to the warm hospitality to the new furry friends you will make — this is a place you cannot afford to miss. Highly recommend taking a walk with Yusef to discover all the artifacts hiding in the hills.

My wife and I celebrated our golden anniversary hiking and observing nature and civilizations present and past here. Hosts Garry & Ming Adams and Canyon of the Ancients Guest Ranch were key ingredients in this quest. We have a very specific dinner tradition for our anniversary (50 years running). Ming gave great advice as to the restaurant in Cortez which could meet these needs. As for the ranch proper, as soon as we checked in (we were in the Cowboy Cabin), Garry met us to show us the ranch. What an incredible place in and of itself, but it is close enough to both Mesa Verde and Hovenweep (both of which we hiked), that you can have the best of both worlds. The ranch and surrounding area is full of history — ancient, recent and modern. We'd love to come back and learn/experience more.

Incredibly friendly. Lots of animals and things to do and explore there. The cabins are first rate — eclectic, artistic, unique, and well put together. Highly recommended.

One of my favorite places ever! My family stayed here last summer for a few days and between our hosts (Gary and Ming), the animals, our house, the view and hiking outings it is by far one of the best places we have ever stayed!

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Canyon of the Ancients Guest Ranch. Our cabin was gorgeous and well appointed. The attention to detail here is hard to find. Truly outstanding. We have experienced numerous world class resorts and hotels, and this enchanting ranch is right up there in 5 star status; in fact it easily surpasses many for a plethora of reasons. First and foremost, it is secluded and impeccably well tended. Everything you see is pleasing to the eye. That is not an easy feat even with continuous and concerted perseverance (which is what ranch life is all about), let alone without it. Life here flows peacefully, and even with all the hard work that is a constant, we always felt remembered and cared for.
The surroundings here are idyllic. There are so many areas to explore right here on the grounds, one could definitely settle in and spend a week discovering new things each day without leaving the ranch and its expansive acreage.
As to the owners: When you are passionate about your calling, it shows and touches everything around you.
Ming and Garry Adams are such warm, gracious, conscientious and attentive hosts, not to mention extremely talented. They love what they do and it is evident in a multitude of ways. The animals on the ranch are adorable and quite endearing.
I will miss them (and their humans).

March 26, 2017. We could feel the energy! Exceptional hosts, beautiful ranch, amazing history, close to Hovenweep National Monument, and you will never forget how wonderful you sleep after all that fresh air. We recommend that you try the lamb sausage — delicious!

Our family recently spent a few days here and I really wish I could give it more than five stars. The accommodations were outstanding and the ranch hand (Trevor? ) was very helpful and friendly when providing advice on what to do in the area. None of us wanted to leave this gorgeous place. We will definitely make it a point to stay here whenever given the option.

Perhaps the most special experience one can have in Colorado is at this guest ranch with Garry and Ming Adams. 2000 acre working ranch with cattle and sheep, beautiful restored guest houses and cabins, fabulous hospitality. As a third generation Coloradan, this is my first choice for a 2-3 day vacation and for out of state visitors who will love this back in time dream sequence. Bring your coonskin cap.

Make a reservation now. You won't be sorry! My first visit to the Ranch was back in July of 2013. I’ve been returning about twice a year since then. Nestled against Sleeping Ute Mountain beside McElmo Creek, the Ranch sits in a perfect place to see and do so much. And you can see and do it while getting to know two of the nicest people on the planet! Ming and Garry, your hosts, are kind and generous and will make the Ranch feel like home. If you are lucky, they may even take you on an adventure, one which I promise you won’t forget. On the Ranch, you’ll enjoy one of the historic houses on this historic property along this historic road. I’ve stayed in every one of the houses and love each for its individual, warm and welcoming feeling. The Ranch itself has acres to discover and friendly beasts to get to know. Yuma and Elmo, the black labs; Mickey, the human loving cow; lambs of every description; and barn cats galore.
