Hotel was in a good location and appeared nice on the inside and that was about where the positives ended. We had an incident halfway through our stay where in the middle of the day a person attempted to get into our room while we were inside. Luckily we our latch across the top of the door so it could only open part way. I went out to the hallway to see if it was housecleaning and there was nobody to be seen. Went down to the front desk and they told me it wasn't house keepi…ng and that was "weird" that happened and offered a lunch voucher to make up for it? The situation kinda freaked us out and for them to say they didn't think it was a worker and then just offer a free 15 dollar lunch like that would make up for it was hilarious. I asked them to look into it which they said they would and gave us new room keys. I never heard anything so I checked again the next day which the worker at the front had no idea what I was talking about and offered free lunch again. I asked to have a manager call me and finally later that day I heard from them. Got passed around a few times and spoke with the GM named Jeff. I explained the situation to Jeff and he seemed to take it very nonchalant attitude towards it. He said he was sorry and that he would have to have a talk with his staff about what happened. The the thing that was really annoying was that he didn't know it was a staff member. House keeping had already come once so why would they come by again when we had our "do not disturb" sign on the door our whole trip. He then tried to say that it might have been maintenance which technically wasn't part of his staff so he couldn't say for sure but he thought it might have been that. He offered free lunch again even though I had declined it three times at this point. I told him I thought we deserved to have our last two nights comped since the incident happened Monday and we were leaving Wednesday morning. Jeff said why would they do that since they fixed the situation on Tuesday with new key cards for the door. Not sure why it took someone trying to break into our room for the situation to be handled for us to have good room keys. You would think a place that is a 4 star hotel would care more about a good experience rather than blowing off the customer. I told him I didn't think that was acceptable and would leave a poor review of the hotel to which he responded "well you are gonna give me a bad review anyways so what does it matter". Really loved hearing that and definitely appreciate his wonderful people skills in trying to make up for a poor experience at his establishment. In the end thought it was very strange that if it was an employee why would they run away when they heard us coming to the door. Just know if you stay here you may have random people walk in on you but hey at least you get a free lunch.
