Ive stayed at the Cowper Inn many times over the last couple of years. It's just wonderful in every way. It's very pretty, great location, lovely breakfast and very accommodating owner and staff. I always stay there if I can.

Room was overall nice, bathroom and kitchen as well. The spare bed did not have sheets the first night and the staff questioned why would someone sleep on a bed without sheets. Additionally, the staff were a bit quirky with requests and questions we had.

The stay at the Cowper Inn, in the heart of downtown Palo Alto, was a genuinely amazing experience. The rooms were clean and well decorated, but what sold it for me was the comfortable bed that rivaled my own! The owners were onsite every day, attentive to their guest’s needs, and extremely accommodating to my specific requests and needs. Make sure to make time for breakfast when you stay here, the waffles and quiche were out of this world.

Convenient location. Clean. Charming without the froufrou of many B&Bs. Tasty variety of breakfast food served buffet style; multiple tables for seating in the dining area. We've stayed here twice, once in 2015 and again in 2018. On both visits we had a room with a shared bath — never had problem accessing the bathroom when we needed it. Fairly reasonable price given the location. I recommend it. Will visit again.

I am lying in my bed in Room 36 after spending all night being woken by noise coming from upstairs. My room as well as and perhaps others, were built in the basement of this old house (the Cowper Inn). There is NO sound proofing. This bed and breakfast is like staying at some old relative's house which is old and noisy. And you're doing it because it's too late to make up an excuse to go elsewhere. Bathrooms are tiny. There are no closets in my room. My wife and I are jumping around our half-open suitcases trying to find clothes without actually opening them, as there is no space for that. The window has no black out, so as soon at 6 am we had light in our room. I also can hear a lot of noise from a nearby train. Basically if you liked "My Cousin Vinnie", the Cowper Inn at Palo Alto is where you can make believe that you are the couple in the movie, which can't sleep at night due to a passing train that wakes them up every night. (The character played by Joe Pesci, is a lawyer from NYC and the joke is that they are in the deep South like fish out of water. ). There is such train here as well that wakes you up. I ended up here because I came to give a talk at Stanford University and some clueless admin (maybe not so clueless, as this is the cheapest joint in Palo Alto) booked me here. This is my first and last night at the Cowper Inn. The reason for posting is (a) to vent a little (b) to prevent others from suffering the same miserable night as I did this past night.

Very nice B&B. The rooms are neat, the breakfast is plentiful and varied and the staff are very friendly.

Superb B&b in a lovely part of Palo Alto, just blocks from the action on University and convenient to Stanford. Greatly enjoy the inimitable Hugo, our host, and a wonderful, well curated breakfast each morning. Room is cozy, and excellent bed, but dated and can't figure out TV plus the desk isn't really functional for me to sit at and work. That is my only criticism, definitely recommend for the right customer at a solid value with great charm.

An amazing place to stay near downtown Palo Alto. You can walk almost anywhere from it and it's close to Stanford as well.

I’m so DISAPPOINTED with Cowper Inn. In fact, I still can’t believe how the manager treated me. I made a pre-reservation for 10 rooms in October 2017 and he gave me his word to block the rooms until mid March. That was last October (a year before the requested date! ). End of January, more then two months later – apparently – he realized that they are already fully booked during that time. This can’t be true, given the fact that I consider the manager as a serious businessman. One of my principles is that agreements have to be respected. Obviously this is not at case with Cowper Inn. So SAD!
