This place is very quaint, I agree it is outdated. No air-conditioning in the room, no microwave, no room service. However wonderful atmosphere you are on the ocean, and a great staff. You are there for the view and not the amenities that you get from a chain hotel. My daughter had her wedding there and they were very accommodating.

Now if luxury is what you are afythis is not for you. This inn is quite old, outdated and could use some repairs ie: the upper balcony has quite a lean to it. The room was suitable but again not fancy. Clean enough and good bed (#18). No elevator, if you are in upper level you will have to take luggage up a dozen or so steps BUT OH MAN THE LOCATION! You are literally on the edge of the Pacific and not another building in sight. It’s a little piece of heaven. Pool looked nice as well. We only spent one night and it was great for us, not sure I would want to stay long term. The restaurant was great for dinner.

The most beautiful view of the ocean I’ve ever experienced! We had the two bedroom suite and it was amazing! The sound of the ocean lulled me to sleep every night. Five star dinner under the stars cannot be matched anywhere. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served. My only negative on this review is that there was no coffee maker in the room and nowhere to make coffee or hot chocolate to sip while watching the tide come in. The rooms are clean. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

This is my go-to birthday spot every year. I just wish people wouldn't smoke pot near the stairwells, go away from the inn and smoke it. There was a child there yelling at his parents because the father wouldn't bring up the room card so he was crawling through the bedroom window screen! It was the first time we ate at the restaurant, which was really good food I was impressed! The continental breakfast could be updated and better selection. I'll be there next year though!

We stayed as an overnight guest and we'd definitely come back! The staff is incredibly nice, the hotel and rooms are old but they're clean and cute. Reminded me of grandma's house. You can't beat the views — you're literally several feet away from the ocean, and the view out the bedroom window is spectacular! Morning breakfast was decent and you can eat on the outside tables right along the water. Spend the extra $10 and get a King bed room as they're upstairs with the best views. Overall, highly recommended!

What an amazing place to stay. I absolutely recommend that you book ahead and get one of the upper floor corner suites. They have a huge picture window that allows for an amazing view of the ocean. It also has more windows so it allows for a better breeze to cool the room in the evening. Room was slightly dated, but still comfy and the view made up for it. You are right on the ocean! Staff was friendly and the restaurant has some excellent food. Their calamari and filet mignon are prepared tastefully. The pool side view and outside dining area are great for just relaxing. The breakfast was disappointing, but overall still a 5 star stay.

Such a great experience! The food was some of the best I have had in a long time. Yellow fin tuna with an orange butter sauce. Dear lord off the chain! Amazing! Such a sweet hidden little gem. Very romantic place to share with that special someone.

The view is great. But the rooms and the building badly need updating and attention. Its terrific for a night because of the view but wouldn't stay several days. Staff is very nice. Didn't eat at the restaurant so can't provide comment. No A/C.

My best friends wedding was held here in April 2018. The location was postcard worthy! Absolutely beautiful! We got to eat at the restaurant in house and the food was amazing. Very fresh and I could tell the cook paid close attention to what they were serving. The wedding location was top notch, the customer service was amazing and the drinks were awesome! We didn’t stay at the Inn, so I can’t comment on the room, however the room my friend stayed in had so much character.

Amazing view great staff room was very nice no AC bring a small fan if u like food was good all in all great experience.

We stumbled upon this little gem. We've stayed here twice within the past month an a half. The view is amazing as well as the restaurant. We found our go to spot for romantic staycations.

Rustic bespoke inn. Beautiful to sit out and watch dolphins in the day or evening. Easy to find and cosy.

Only went for dinner, which included prompt and helpful service. Food was delicious especially the fries.

You can't beat the Postcard view but the management is less to be desired. Asking for things or changing schedules is a Big Chore for them it's like "Why are you Bugging me don't you know I have better things to do Attitude" One comment was made to me when I asked about breakfast? I asked do you make alittle more of a elaborate breakfast like eggs benedict, omelettes etc. The response from the manager working Monday morning at 8am was quite disturbing and she responded you've been here since Friday and still don't know what the menu is for breakfast she responded by saying it's always been A "CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST" and I said I use to come here a lot and it was not always a CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST and I find your lack of respect and courtesy very rude. You are in the customer service HOSPITALITY business you shouldn't be this rude. It's a shame because I like coming here but if this is how things are going to be from now on I will and all my recommendations and friends go with me. It's really shame when RUDE people are working and representing a great place like this.

View of the ocean is phenomenal. Sleep so well with the white noise of the waves crashing. Complementary continental breakfasts with optional lunches/dinners on the cliffs are worthy meal dates. The only fault are the rooms themselves; a bit shabby with decor fading and in need for rehauling.

Best hotel of our entire trip! We booked room as recommended when we called. The view was amazing and the room was huge with a romantic hottub and fireplace! We could hear the ocean from our room, which we loved. Although they do not have room service, we ordered dinner one night from the restaurant downstairs and brought it back to our room on real glass plates, not in takeout boxes. The food was OUT OF THIS WORLD! In the morning we enjoyed the free breakfast as we sat outside and watched seals playing down below on the rocks. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful, Peaceful, Relaxing, Heaven… Love this place, could use a microwave for heating food, and needs coffee pots in the rooms. A little updating needed on the bedding. Stayed in room 25 for 2 days, it's BIG and right on the Ground floor by the Ocean front. So don't want to leave but it's time to get back to Reality… Will Totally be back again in a few months.

A lovely place with spectacular views over the ocean. The restaurant was very good with our food cooked to perfection. Highly recommended for a stop over on the route 101.

I have mixed feelings about the Cliff House Inn. On the upside, it's picturesque, right on the water and secluded. On the other hand, it's difficult to get to off of the freeway, and it's not on the beach but on large breakwater rocks which can be challenging to cross. The rooms were comfortable but the sound of the waves crashing, while generally wonderful, is inescapable. Hand in hand with being secluded is that there are no places to eat whatsoever nearby — with the exception of the restaurant in the hotel (we had breakfast twice there: it was quite pleasant, though pricey; for dinner, we drove into Santa Barbara).

Wow this really looks like a nice overnight spot. The menu also looks tasty! I would suggest that the owner not fly ANY other flags higher than that of the American flag. In one highway pic it appears that a Canadian flag is at the same level as Old Glory? In another it looks like the California state flag. No flag should be flown at the same level as the American flag. Just lower the other two about a foot each.

Great romantic spot for lunch. Great food and service. We bring visitors to area here Right on water. One of our favorites in Ventura. After new 101 freeway upgrade, you need to go north pass it to make a u-turn at Bates to get to it. South bound exit only.

I really loved this place. The reason for only 3 stars is because of the confusing question to why they don't update the rooms a bit. It's in my opinion… Kind of a shame because its hard to recommend it to anyone beings it's hard to explain a category that the hotel rooms fit into. I had one of the 2 deluxe rooms and it's huge with a backdoor and privet deck yet there isn't even a clock in the room Also maintenance type repairs seem so cheaply done or rigged for a temporary fix. Hmmmmmm makes no sense. Also curtains need cleaning. I am not a clean freak or normally a picky person but was really confused by these things. Staff was so sweet. Food at their Shoals restaurant was very good. Property very well kept. BEAUTIFUL VIEW and a walk way so you can walk along the water without even getting wet if you choose.

Love the location. It's an be older place but cozy. Beds are comfy. We usually come here in cooler weather as there's no AC. The views are nice and it's a quiet place to relax. For the price, ocean view doesn't get any better. At night, leave windows open and can hear waves all night. Just minutes drive from Santa Barbara. The restaurant downstairs is actually pretty good too. Cyclist can also pick up the bike road along the highway from here which is very scenic.

All windows and curtains needed to be open all night which resulted in lack of privacy and noise as people passed by the balcony and from the pool area. The restaurant was horrible! Service ranged from "very slow" to "not-at-all". We waited 20 minutes without any water glass refills or any waiter interaction at all. Food was extremely disappointing! After reading some of the excellent ratings regarding the restaurant I must assume it all depends on who the chef is that night. The only saving grace was the ocean view especially the sunset.

My favorite spot for my birthday (August) and our anniversary (December) We’ve been coming for the past several years! No, it’s not the 4 Seasons, but it’s, quiet, quaint, romantic, and you can listen to the ocean all night long! The restaurant never disappoints, and the lovely staff has been around for years! A quick hour drive from Los Angeles, a nice shopping trip at the Camarillo Outlets on the way. Plenty to do and see in Santa Barbara and Solvang!

The hotel has great dinning, view. It has two room suite. Love to watch the ocean from pool side.

Location can't be beat: right on the ocean! We were in Room 24, which has the best view, but all rooms have good views. Very family friendly with a ping pong table and other games. Friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant is also very good and not overly priced for the location; about $25 per person. Our room had a mini — refrigerator. Just be aware that the rooms are dated but clean and comfortable. They have heat but no air conditioning (which is rarely needed). The hotel is a wonderful romantic location as long as you don't expect the rooms to be fancy.

The staff and view were pleasant. The actual hotel room was definitely not worth the price. No A/C requires you to keep your windows open at night to try to stay cool but it didn't help. There were no fans in the room. The freeway and train run right behind the rooms so there is constant noise keeping you up. The rooms did not supply blow dryers, irons with ironing boards, or coffee makers so make sure you bring them if you decide to stay. We would have been more comfortable at a motel 6.

The room was nicely decorated and clean, but the only thing that I did not liked was the lack of an air conditioner! I understand the hotel is in front of the beach, but the ventilation that was provided was not enough. I had to request a portable fan.

I am rating this on a past experience when I had lunch with one of my best friends who is now deceased. It was my first time of many back in 2007. I went there for my honeymoon. Quite remarkable. I need to go back soon.

For the money, this place is amazing! You won't find a better location or view for the money. The rooms are ok. It is a very old surfer type hotel with a great resturant. The bar is somewhat limited, and although it isn't offered, the waitress graciously made us lemon drop martini's. Every room faces the ocean. The place could be an absolute gold mine if the made some small but very needed changes.
You can't get a cup of coffee before 7:30 in the morning. A Keurig in each room would be amazing.
The pads on the lounge chairs by the pool are very old and worn. They look dirty, and they don't offer towels for the pool area. New pads that are brought in each evening would go a long way.
There are no little tables near the lounge chairs, and there isn't any type of food or beverage service out by the pool. You can go to the kitchen window, but they didn't seem very accommodating. We did however order lunch and beverages anyway.
There is access to the beach and what seems to be, an endless bike path.
If you are looking to get away, and truly relax… this is the place to go. It is away from everything. Not within walking distance of anything. But an amazing place to sit outside enjoy the view and relax.
We will go back.

Heba and I loved the place. The view is marvelous. The beach access is so close that you feel you are staying in your own chalet. We compared it to other places like Melos and we ended up staying at the one because of the beach access. The place has this antiquity in it which is nice and it is cozy and all but the rooms could use a little bit of upgrading: the old carpet smell so they probably could install hardwood or laminate flooring, it was a bit hot inside and it was not that hot outside, overall I do recommend this hotel and will be coming back.

Amazing property. Quaint and charming with a fantastic view. Scallops on risotto blew my mind. White wicker in the rooms, a chef that must have Michelin stars, and the helpful and friendly staff made me want to move in and never leave.

Beautiful views, dramatically disturbing how the hotel seems to be sliding into the sea… was seasick for 2 days. Lol. Could not get a hot shower. But for the price, history surrounding the hotel built in the nineteen thirties and the raspberry creme Brulee was worth it… not for the faint of heart… lol… interesting place to visit. No bible in room…

The food was great and the view is amazing. Having dinner watching the sunset and going to sleep listening to the sound of the waves hitting the rocks is definitely worth it. However I had a few issues there. The TV didn't work as well as the wi-Fi and the A/C unit was really small that it didn't make any difference when it was working. The complementary breakfast was no that good … Overall, it could have been much better.

I attended a lunch at the restaurant. The view on the back patio was amazing. We had a view of a beautiful scene of dolphins. The food was amazing. I had the salmon and steamed vegetables. I will definitely go on my own again.

Stayed the beggining of Feb. 2016 and the weather was amazing. The ONLY bad thing I can say is the restaurant is highly overpriced, for the quality they put out. The rooms were super clean and the bed comfortable and the view is AMAZING. Sure the doorknobs need to b changed out but who cares about old door knobs lol O and the breakfast could use some meat, but that's just my preference.

Love the romance. Accommodations were great. Scenery was great. Paid more for the deluxe room. Definitely worth it.

Like buying a home, it's all about the location. We've been staying at C. F. For almost 25 years. The Shoals restaurant has an excellent menu and excellently prepared food. We couldn't find a better location when it comes to price and food. The free breakfasts have many homemade pastries included. We love this place. If you are a snob about perfection, go stay somewhere else and spend your big bucks elsewhere.

The Cliff House Inn is a charming motel that sits right on the ocean. Every room faces the water so you have a gorgeous view. At night, the sound of waves crashing will lull you to sleep. It's peaceful and relaxing. It isn't a fancy hotel though; there are things that could be improved, such as newer paint and newer curtains. But the external appearance things that could be updated don't affect your physical comfort unless you're super picky. The rooms have new tv's, new mini-fridges, good lighting, etc. The plumbing is good, the rooms are very clean. The place isn't run-down or shoddy. It's homey and comfortable. I give the service 5 stars. The staff is extremely nice and welcoming. The king-size beds are also great — — super comfy mattresses! My husband and I have stayed here twice now: once before we were married and now, on our mini-honeymoon. You can't beat the view or the beach right below the Inn. There are tide pools and mussels on the rocks. You can watch the sea birds while you collect shells. You're only 15-20 minutes from downtown Ventura to the south if you feel like exploring the town. For me, it's a wonderful plave to stay. It's a one or two hour drive from where I live but I feel like I've gone farther away. I highly recommend this place! But I'd also like to keep it a secret since I'd hate to see it change at all. But then again, if no one stays here, they can't stay in business… such a dilemma!

Great non commercial coastal hotel right outside Santa Barbara. Helpful and friendly staff with unbelievable views and atmosphere. I would recommend to anyone.
