Very nice it's just not as beautiful as it's neighboring suites.

I like staying here. It’s nice and clean. Close to Cal Poly!

I went for a weekend with my family and the first thing I didn’t like was that when I asked the front desk guy if we could do a late checkout, he never told me yes or no. I put my credit card on the card reader to get charged and we went off to our rooms. The next morning I called the front to see if we had to check out and him confused told me to go in to check out. He had me put my credit card again in the card reader and I thought it was weird. I told him I had done it the night before when we checked in already and he said there was nothing. I told him that I just hoped I didn’t get charged twice and he told me no they wouldn’t and gave me my receipt. Next thing I am being change twice for a room! I called the day I found out and the girl said the manager had to take care of this issue because she didn’t see anything in her system. I emailed the manager and explained to her the situation and to call me or anything to see how we were going to tale care of this problem. Never contacted me. Ruby, the manager was not in the day I called and I waited four days for her call. Now I am disputing this with my credit card to see if I can get my money back. Disappointed.

The rooms are very nice, great price, good breakfast.

Sincerely loved staying here. Very clean room and decent breakfast. Had grapefruit cut up which was awesome! Walls were a smidgen too thin I could hear the guest next to us snoring who I originally thought was a motorcycle trying to start and quickly found out it was not. Staff very friendly!

I say it was 3.5. Loved the toiletries. Bed was comfortable and clean. Bathrooms too. There was a great selection for breakfast, but it wasnt the most tastiest. But the carpets were old and just didn't feel clean. I only gave it a four because of the DVDs that they have available and the kids loved that they were greeted with warm cookies.

Nice quaint hotel. Great customer service. Free breakfast, coffee and tea. They even had fresh baked cookies in the office for guests. Clean and comfy room. Nice pool and jacuzzi.

Have stayed here in the past and it was a good economical place. Clean good price. Good parking. A little noisy, for a suburban motel. Helpful staff.

Stayed here while visiting San Luis Obispo. The staff was very friendly, kind, and accommodating to our needs. Room was pretty small, though. But personally it was fine. Only thing is that there wasn't much variety for breakfast. Overall Sands was a pretty good hotel.

This motel is a nice, clean & comfortable place to stay in San Luis Obispo. They have a great breakfast room that is open until 10 AM. The bed was quite comfortable and there's cable TV and free use of DVDs from the office for adults and kids. It's close to Cal Poly and downtown SLO.

A quaint, pet friendly hotel with lots of space for our family, a great location, good breakfast bar and friendly staff. I stay at a lot of nice hotels for work. This want the Marriott, but for the price, it far exceeded my expectations. We will be back next time we're in SLO.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Sands Inn for two nights while our house was being tented for termites. We were upgraded to a suite, and were impressed at how clean and quiet it was. Fittings and decor is a bit older, but nothing was in poor condition. The staff was very helpful and courteous for all of our requests. The hotel is pet friendly, but did charge a $25 fee — no big deal considering most places don’t allow pets.

Great place to stay in San Luis Obispo. Conveniently located off hwy 101 at Monterey st. Rooms are clean and spacious. You can take a short walk to downtown or when trolley is running it only cost. 50 to ride. Plenty of restaurants and shops.

My wife and I took our son to tour Cal Poly and stayed two nights at the Sands Inn. Our room was neat and clean, the bed was very comfortable and the staff was very nice. Coffee and breakfast was good and well stocked. We will definitely be returning to the Sands next time we are in town.

Rooms are nice designed like an upscale/ current appearance of furnishings. Nice countertops and updated electronics. They have a pool and spa and part of their parking lot is covered by building with rooms.

The room was clean and comfortable with a your average presentation. Pretty much everything you could want or expect at this price point. The pool looked really nice but I didn't end up using it. My only complaint would be about the mini fridge which was a little loud. Overall a good experience.

We stayed only one night at this motel and therefore did not use the pool or the small gym. The rooms themselves are clean and modern in style. A refrigerator and microwave are available in the room. The rooms are a bit noisy but in my opinion still OK. Breakfast is kept very simple. You can't expect a big buffet here. All in all for the cheap price a good accommodation.

This was a great place to stay Matthew the Manager was great! The hot tub, nice quiet rooms, huge room. Easy to get to.

Average stay-nice showers, good bed. But, pillows poor, breakfast poorly maintained. Front office staff seemed confused and untrained.

Neat and clean rooms. Have hot breakfast with a waffles maker eggs n sausage along with some cookies n fruit juices. Overall if you are paying about $70 worth it. Is near enough to freeway without being noisy.

My girlfriend and I were forced to leave our home in Ojai due to the recent wildfires, and the staff here at Sands could not have been any nicer! There was a whole group of us coming from Ojai and they welcomed us with open arms. They lowered the rate and waived any dog fee, saying that we were welcome to stay as long as we needed to. They had a BBQ and wine tasting event by the pool for all the evacuees, with live music and a lot of love and gratitude in the air. It was very special and I recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly inexpensive place to stay. Thank you Matt!

Very nice staff. The inn itself was acceptable — — nothing fancy. However, because of its proximity to Cal Poly, it's regularly sold out.

The hotel is in a great location near bars and restaurants. The room was very clean and spacious. Great customer service! Housekeeping was excellent!

Very nice inn, great value, clean and upkept besides couple small oddities like a light that turned on and off if you got inot the bed.

Decent place. Middle of the road for a decent price. Bring your own pillows, as the hotel ones are unforgiving.

Very great hotel. We stay 1 night after labor day weekend in Pismo Beach area. This hotel has amazing employees with excellent customer service. The breakfast was delicious and was included. From eggs and sausage, to fresh fruit and yogurt, cereals and pastries, juices/coffee, and more. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Nice pool, workout room (a bit small) but more than adequate. Both which close at 10 pm. Every staff member I encountered was a pleasant experience. Even the lovely lady that waved as we drove off. I will most definitely be returning when in this area. Thank you all the staff and employees including room service for simply being awesome. God bless you.

The rooms are large and very nice. Showers are large as well. The continental breakfast in the morning was small but not unsatisfactory. A very good motel, much better than a Holiday Inn or motel 6.

Love Love this Place. Can't wait to visit again. The full size help yourself breakfast is real nice. Rooms are nice and clean. The front to the maids are very nice and welcoming. Answers every questions today have. Pool is nice. Worth the price that's for sure.

The room has a rather large mini fridge, microwave and TV. The shower is rather small. However, the overall room is nice and clean. The outside is simple but well-maintained. It is really easy to get to from the highway 101. The staff are also friendly. It is about a 20 minute walking distance to the downtown area of SLO.

The Sands Inn and Suites we're neatly tucked away in the Heart of the City. It was a stone throw's away from restaurants, shops, museums, and nearby parks. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. They were quick to help us situate our party despite Limited room availability. The breakfast provided was decent and offered a variety of choices. The rooms or modest, but had all of the necessary amenities. The tub, toilet and sink or a little small for my liking but the comfortable queen size bed made up for it. A really great place for an overnight stay at a decent price. I would definitely stay there again.

Great experience here. Nice rooms, breakfast was solid, and the workout room got the job done. Daniel was extremely helpful about where to go in the area.

Downtown, rooms simple but ok, ordinary continental breakfast, swimming pool ok but hot tub was dirty.

Clean rooms but a bit dated. Dog friendly and close to town. Overall good value.

Older but very clean and spacious, fair price ($98+tax) for double queen, and dead on food rec from the front desk. Really, 3.5 because of the age and lack of parking for a full house, but I'd stay again.

The room was nice and relatively inexpensive, but what really set this place apart was the full continental breakfast, nice large pool area with lots of tables, and the patio or front that was open for socializing at all hours. The staff was nice and friendly at the front desk, and they were very accommodating with our every request including coffee at 8pm!

Rooms are nice. They have a hot breakfast with things like bacon or sasauge eggs and waffles. Staff is really friendly and helpful.

Bathroom wasn't cleaned. Hair all over. I had to buy products and clean it myself because we arrived late and there were not any housekeepers. Very thin walls. Could hear guests next door talk clearly. Won't stay again.

Clean rooms, comfy beds, nice pool area. Breakfast was NOT even good but that doesn't lower my rating for this hotel. Good place, nice staff, good price. Will stay again.

Front desk was nice and everyone was helpful for our class but I called two days ago on the 800 number for the manager. Jason answered and stated that he could not transfer me due to I called on the 800# but the manager would return my call. I have never heard from the manager. We rented on section of the conference room and were told we would only be charged for one section even though both sections were opened to us. We spoke with the front desk person regarding the bill at the time of check out and he said the manager would take care of it. I am not sure if the definitive answer is that it is taken care of since there is no call from the manager nor is overcharge taken care of.

Fantastic, pet friendly, super clean and very nice all round. Stephan was great on the phone when we called at the last minute to book a room. We booked the Junior Suite, but it's massive and it rocks. Very unique and beautifully maintained. At the desk a very nice lady gave us a pet basket full of care stuff for our two dogs. Absolutely brilliant!

Nice place, good price, good breakfast and good people.

Front desk people very nice and accommodating. We brought our dog and they gave us a doggie basket with treats, poop bags, extra sheet for top of bed (in case Fido slept there) and a spare towel. Room was comfortable, (but try not to be on the first floor near the ramp as the cleaning carts use that all day) and pool was great. They had a DVD player so we brought our current Netflix shows. Inn is on the main street and close to everything. Will be back.

Stayed here for one night. Its very good hotel.

We called to let them know that we would be arriving very late in the early morning hours and asked if they would be available. They said of course, but when we showed up we had to wait 30 minutes outside in the cold before someone came running down the street. The rooms were ok, just your standard motel room and the breakfast wasn't very good. I won't be staying here again.

Our experience was very good. We stayed in May 2014 as part of a cross country road trip and I commented to my husband that I wished we could stay at this hotel all the way home to MI. The gentleman at the desk was very efficient and friendly and the room was clean and the beds comfortable. You won't be sorry to stay here.

Really zero complaints. Booked through hotwire for $65 per night. I would say it is equivalent to a Hampton Inn, and I am a hilton honors member. This is a comfortable clean hotel with a nice pool, hot tub and a great hot breakfast. Dont think twice about this place, unless as long as you dont mind outside entrances.
