Desperate need for new mattresses. Nice sized rooms. Very clean.

Good motel located 5min drive from the pier and 10 from downtown the hosts are very friendly although it is located near the road no problem of noise nuisance Finally I recommend it for a passage to San Francisco to taken reasonable.

Location is very good! Place is basic, clean and comfortable. Rooms are cleaned everyday without being told. Breakfast is only croissants and a fruit like apple or banana, to be picked up from the reception. We booked much in advance for decent tariff. It got tripled by the time we checked in, in April end 2018.

This place was terrible. It smelled, it was dirty, stains on bed. The best part was the manager let us leave and refunded our money. We went to a different hotel.

Rooms dirty, value for money absolutely not respected for the service that I was personally offered. Breakfast of poor quality and rude staff (at least my experience). Only point in favor of the location, quite central and on the way. But you can certainly find better.

Rooms aren't that nice but you can reach everything on the city so it's kinda fine.

The room was perfectly fine. It was nice that the sink with the mirror was separate from the bathroom — very time efficient. However, I can only give two stars because firstly, the light in the bathroom was too dim and there was not another mirror; secondly, the bathroom always smelled like smoke; thirdly, the van is too loud to let it run during the night but it also gets too cold to sleep without it and fourthly, the breakfast is a disaster. You can get apples and bananas (that is the only positive thing about it) and then you can only get pastries which tasted old and were dry. Also, pastries aren't a really good start in the day, right?! Moreover, you really have to go and get your breakfast early enough because they do not refill it and if you are unlucky you get nothing. Also, you just go and grab your breakfast and eat it in your room.
But if the location and a free parking spot is prior to you, I can highly recommend Redwood Inn.

Convenient location; easy access to a lot of SF famous attractions. No fancy facilities ; staff is OK.

Simple, without any kind of luxury. Very convenient for the proximity to the port and attractions.

Lousy service, they cater to you Chinese you can't communicate with them and the cleanliness is very bad.

Rooms were OK. We liked the location. Although it is on a busy road, it is easy to get to the pier, the curves of Lombard Street are not far and you are quick and easy by car or bus at the Golden Gate Bridge.

Friendly staff and clean rooms with great price. It is on or near major bus routes and walking distance to several major attractions. Spent 4 days with out using a car. Offered airport shuttle for reasonable price.

The gentleman at the reception was very busy on our arrival, he gave us, for example, Only on demand the keys are given … Ect. When we went to the room I actually wanted to get back out backwards, it's super dirty, the carpet is so spotty I don't even know what color the actually Mal had … In the shower hung foreign dark hair and that already on our arrival 3 days later the was still there, the bed is just put back neatly and the bed linen not changed we had the same broken blanket every day when in another Room for air conditioning you can hear a rather loud vibration in the room almost as if someone were working with a press air hammer. I was very shocked and would not recommend it to take "vacation" here … That's not worth its expensive price …

The best thing about the hotel is the location very close to Lombard Street, the price is quite expensive but you have to keep in mind that San Francisco is a expensive hotel-level city.

The people at Redwood Inn were very nice. The place can stand an upgrade. It is old looking. We stayed on the 3rd floor and our room was facing out doors. The walkway was slanted so it felt like you could fall. I walked next to the building. My husband and I called the elevator 'scary elevator'. There was a door outside of the elevator that you opened when the elevator car was on your floor. Very 1950's. You get what you pay for so it was overpriced at $140.00 a night.

Hotel is very clairvoyant and is located on a busy road. Therefore, we would always be awake at 6 o 'clock. When checking in we tried to sell some hop-on hop-off tickets, because they are so cheapest. Breakfast is, in reality, none. You can pick up a few parts (mini plunderdat muffins/-donats) at the check in from supermarket pack, on which the $5 sticker still sticks. From time to time there were apples. You have to take the parts with you to the room, as there is no food — or lounge. No coffee is provided to anyone. Because you have to cook yourself in the room, with a coffee machine that works with portion bags and cooks the coffee even like a tea.
Wi-Fi was ok (about 6 Mbps), streaming was possible.
Otherwise, the hotel is very simple and already in the years, respectively. Left in the early 80s. Even the check in does not have a computer, here you can still work with flashcards. Accordingly, there is no invoice, only a breakthrough of the check in receipt.
Cleanliness went like this when you look across the spotty carpet and don't look into the corners or under the bed.
My conclusion: Also for the price level in San Francisco, this hotel at the price is a cheekiness.
Recommendation: Preferable to book into the hotels of the well-known chains. The bonds partly equally oblique across the road and are at the same price level, but better.

It is priced quite reasonably for a place within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf. They provide free parking. While the rooms aren't super fancy, they are clean and comfortable. There are a couple of nice little cafes within a couple of blocks. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Exactly what we wanted in San Francisco: Reasonable, free parking, mini fridge, good location & Wi-Fi. The Big Bus stop is nearby and the public 43 bus is a couple of blocks away. You can *simply* walk up Lombard Street (the crooked street). Friendly staff.

This is a comfortable and clean hotel. It has a rustic and friendly atmosphere with access to almost anywhere one would like to go in the city. Additionally the area of location is pretty clean and crime-free!

Nothing special about this place, nice little place for a last minute stay and you don't want to break the bank. Free parking as well which is tough to find in SF hotels. Location is good. Minutes away from most places (excluding traffic).

Pretty good for the price and location. And free parking! The staffers are really friendly and willing to help. If you don't like the smell of smoke, do pick the non-smoking room when making the reservation. Walking distance from lots of attraction, piers, restaurants, grocery stores. I'd recommend the owner to change the cover of each bed because the dark red mosaic cover makes people feel it's dirty. Recommend this place if you have a car & would love to have a walk tour to some of the attractions.

The room smelled like cigarette smoke. The carpet was dirty and stained. The smoke alarm was broken. The shower head wasn't attached to the wall. If you're just looking for a place to spend the night, it's fine. Don't expect anything nice.

The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. End of the good thing. We stayed her because its in the middle of everything and we weren't spending much time here and only staying for two days but never again. First when they found out my parents were handicapped they asked if we wanted a handicap room and my mom said yes… the lady told us it was on the fourth floor?!?! I'm not sure how that makes sense. Bigger tub maybe? so we stuck with the room we have. Next the elevator was last inspected in 2014 it was supposed to be inspected the first of last month. If it has been they haven't posted the new inspection paper. The balcony is slightly slanted and the bars seem sketch. All the outlets either as loose or pooch ou. My parents room had a shower cap over the fire alarm for reasons we don't know. We plugged a phone charger and it shorted the bathroom light. Their AC was unplugged before they moved into the room and after one look at the plug I wouldn't let them plug it back I. My room had AC that worked one night but the next night when my wife turned it on it smelled like something was burning and no nothing was on top of it. They dont have extra blankets. And the shelves in the fridge are broken. Oh and the toilet runs forever when you flush it. And finaly after being out of the room from 11 am until 1030pm we came back to a clean room which was nice but also a random sink full of water.

The place is way overpriced. Toilet seat was broken, towel rack was broken, old TV, blankets were torn. Overall, 0/10

Location was perfect, bed was comfortable, room was very clean. Cooling system was working only intermittently but weather was fine so luckily we didn't need it.

Besides the fact that its close to downtown, its decently priced in comparison to the other hotels in the area, and there isn't any homeless people waiting outside the door-which there shouldn't be to begin with. Would not recommend for a future visit the beds were ABSOLUTELY uncomfortable, and i'm not one of those picky bed people whatsoever! I could feel the springs sitting down and actually laying on the bed for a nights rest was dreadful! I actually ENDED UP SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR because it was THAT bad. I had the worst back ache for 3 days. Not enough parking either if your out and about make sure you go back by 6-ish to park your car or you'll be s. O. L.

Nice clean room and parking area! I was surprised when I walked into room 23, beds are comfortable, plenty of room to move about, plenty of coffee in room, Wi-Fi was great. I parked car and could walk to Warf area, Pier 39, Ferry Building also used public rail (no charge) Sat. Nov. 30 back from Ferry Building to Warf area. Managers available, very helpful, made the stay enjoyable and asked for business when I checked out. I will stay again.

This is a great Hotel near the hearth of San Francisco. It is just blocks away from the crookedest street and a Bus stop away from most of the major touristy attractions. The managers are a great couple of people, and they offer free donuts to everyone in the morning. Also, remember to ask for toiletries in the front desk, since shampoo is not provided in the rooms and there aren't any drugstores nearby. Overall a great place.

When travelling on a budget this hotel is a good fit. It is very clean, great location, and the staff was very friendly. The map they gave us at check-in was great and we used it extensively to get around town. The refrigerator/coffee pot/microwave was very convenient to have. We had a great Wi-Fi connection the whole time. **Definitely heed the warnings in other reviews about the noise — Lombard is a very busy street and there is definitely some street noise, but you can also hear everyone who steps outside of their hotel room (and often guests hang out outside their room to smoke, so if there are noisy people you will hear every word they say like they are in the room with you). We were fortunate and only had to deal with this minimally, but if you had a rowdy bunch like another recent reviewer mentions I can only imagine how irritating it was. ** Also, while very clean and adequate, the rooms are not overly comfortable. The beds and chairs are thin. This was our first trip to San Francisco, so we didn't spend a ton of time in the hotel, but the time we did spend in the hotel we were tired and a little more comfort would have been nice. All in all, it was a good fit for us this trip, but if I went back I would spend the money to stay somewhere a little more comfortable.
