Review of Palihotel San Francisco 3*

DO NOT STAY HERE** (see attached picture for bed bug bites) A friend and I booked a room at Mystic for 2 nights to spend the weekend in SF. Little did we know we would eventually wake up in the morning covered in bed bug bites! Right after checking in, we were told the elevator (THE ONLY ELEVATOR) was out of order and we had to carry our luggage up 7 flights of stairs to our room (#707). The elevator was out for the remainder of that day and the next day. The room itself looked nice and was a compact size which we honestly didn't mind, it was perfect for two girls here for a weekend but it was all deceiving. My friend woke up the first morning and her right eye was swollen. We didn't think much of it and thought it was allergies so we quickly dismissed it. The second and final morning we woke up and there was a line of bug bites along her left arm and her right hand. We thought it was hives from an allergic reaction so we quickly checked out that morning and went to Travelers' Urgent Care (Dr. Savage) who then confirmed it was indeed bed bug bites. We rushed on back (after picking up prescribed cortisone cream) to explain to the hotel staff who was not accommodating by any means that Room 707 was infested with bed bugs. The man covering the front desk at the time seemed baffled and didn't believe us. He ACTUALLY asked if we had written record from the doctor confirming the bed bug bites. (? ) We tried showing him the bites on my friend's arm and hand as proof along with a bite on my arm AND all he did was shrug. No words of apology, nothing at all. He just told us he was going to have a specialist come in to check out the room and he would then provide us with a report via email confirming whether the results were positive or negative for bed bugs. We don't NEED a report. We already knew from the doctor that there was an infestation. No compensation, no words of apology from the hotel. We then asked if the hotel had a washer and dryer for us to wash and kill off any bugs from our clothing and he referenced a dry cleaner next door but remembered they were closed. We left the hotel speechless. I will NEVER refer any family member, friend, enemy, or stranger to Mystic Hotel due to my experience here from this weekend. No one deserves to go through a miserable experience of bed bugs. And for those who don't know, bed bugs can easily latch onto luggage, clothing, and shoes and later infest your own home.
