Filthy property, people yelling in the alley behind, no safety latch on inner door, door connecting from room to room next door (? ) or where? The “limited parking” means parking in the lot and possibly having people double parked potentially blocking you in (as stated on the window when we checked in) or potentially having no parking at all in such a busy area. Heat did not work. The “check in” area is like a tellers window outside. We left less than an hour after arriving and working on getting a refund. Did not want to be there after dark and there was already a truck partially blocking our way out of the parking space when we went to leave. Don’t rely on the hotel pictures; they are not accurate at all, maybe photoshopped or from a very long time ago. Stay at your own risk but I would definitely recommend not staying at all. Pay less 10 miles away and have a safer, cleaner experience with an actual parking lot.

Very nice room. Smelled clean and good. Wonderful brand of shampoo and such items.

The room has no air conditioning, beds (both standard and pull out) are very uncomfortable, door had to be slammed to even shut, floors were so dirty it made our feet black, shower clogged and filled to the brim. Overpriced for what you get.

Great lil get away for both adults and children. Balcony views are awesome during day and night. Everything you need is a quick walk. Me and my family love this place ❤️

Not bad, good location to it all on the wharf and price wise was not bad either! They just don’t have lots of plugs but they do provide cords for iPhone and Android.

Great little spot right next to everything on the Wharf! Parking can get a little tricky, especially if you got a Suburban but it can be done. Clean rooms and great staff. We will return for sure! Wheelchair accessible rooms and elevator.

Been here twice. Great place for the price and the parking is included. They even let us check in early and park our car.

If we could give negative stars, we would! Absolutely the WORST hotel room ever. Should be renting them out by the hour! The photos are incorrect — the rooms have never been updated, bathroom was nasty. I just posted pics — hope this helps someone else avoid this rat trap!

Definitely old school with mix of modern and nostalgic. You are absolutely paying for the location. Everything cool on Fisherman's Warf is a short walk away.

Inexpensive and no better location than this.

Nice clean rooms. Big rooms with smart TV's and really comfortable beds. I've been here a number of times and I have had a different room every time. Comfortable beds fits every time. Friendly staff too. They even have on site parking and considering where it's at that means an awful lot because parking is hard to come by around there.

Real advice! Find another hotel. Don't be fooled by the pictures your seeing as you try to decide whether or not to stay here. This hotel is beautiful in pictures however what they won't show you is the loud music that play next door at the 7eleven all day/night and the bus tours that are also going all day. 2. Their are no fridges in this hotel which are extremely needed. Why is a fridge so needed you ask?. 3. Their is no a. C.! apparently this hotel was built during 19th something and owners of this place obviously won't update this cockroach of a hotel. 4. This hotel has no clue about what temperature water to give you. All the luxury of having all the hot water to take as long of a shower as you would like does not exist here. Better yet the building chooses the temp of water you desire. The only thing good about this place is it's close to the piers and are clean. All I can say is the advice I would have given myself before I booked here is realize the other places are only a few bucks more per night and now I know why.

While not exactly cheap it's still a great value considering location and the included parking. Rooms are large enough and the beds are pretty comfortable.

The best part about this hotel was the location. Although when we booked our hotel it said free parking, when we got there they said they now charge $35 a night. So they didn’t charge us for parking but just an FYI. The hotel is older and could definitely use some updating. The carpet was spotted and the many coats of paint were showing. The lack of maintenance and up keep was a disgrace. They do supply a portable fan in the closet, which helped cancel out the noise of the homeless people scavenging the streets all night long. If you really don’t mind feeling like you stepped back in time 50 years, with the dirt and filth, then this is the hotel to be with the location and price. We personally would not stay here again. I would pay the extra money for a nicer hotel.

Clean, spacious room. Clean, ample bathroom. Comfy bed and pillows. Old school hotel that is close walking distance to everything by warf. No fridge in rooms. Will definitely return here.

Good price, in comparison to the other major hotels in the area… Location was perfect for us. 7-11 across the street which provides some great entertainment. Right on the strip, so you're not far away from anything.

It is an older hotel, but it is near all the action on the waterfront. Our room did not have air conditioning but it was not an issue when we stayed in January. The parking is tight but is free.

My husband and I stayed overnight at this hotel during the California tour organized by our travel agency of confidence. The excellent location and value for money make it one of the best possible solutions for those who want to enjoy the best this city.

Excellent location. Room just for sleeping and/or breakfast and leaving. Very comfortable beds. It doesn't have a minibar but the hotel has coffee and tea at all times. Very close to areas to eat or buy something and bring it to the room.

The pros: closest hotel to Pier 39 and other main attractions, parking is included in the room rate but it's first come, first serve. The cons: no mini-fridge, no a/c (we there in March so this did not matter), Wi-Fi is spotty, ants on carpet near garbage can and in lower dresser drawers (not many but enough to be a concern that we did not unpack luggage nor keep food in the room), dated look but it was built in the 1950s so that's to be expected, so all in all overpriced ($300/night + tax for the king suite) for what you're getting IMO. The other: noisy Mason Street while you're sleeping (yelling, loading/unloading trucks, garbage trucks). Was our first time to SF and its location and free parking were the biggest draw for us. Would we stay there again? Maybe, maybe not, depending on our needs but I felt we could have gotten more value for our buck.

This inn is very good! Conviant location, within walking distance to many restaurants, many attractions, and very close to many transportation stops in order to get to further places. The rooms are nice, the decoration is modern as well as are very clean.

This is a nice hotel located in the heart of fisherman's wharf. I'm giving 5 stars for their excellent service, location, and parking availability. (there's plenty of parking at the hotel) The staff were all very friendly and helpful. When we had a problem with our reservation and pricing, (I recommend only booking through their hotel and not an outside booking service) they were very quick to assist with the issues and go above and beyond to give us a good rate. They were great about staying in touch as well! The rooms were quaint but very nice, beds are comfortable, lots of TV channels, and the consistantly hot showers is always appreciated! Perfect location to fisherman wharf restaurants and activities. Everything is literally just a few steps away. Thank you wharf inn and staff for making this such a great trip for us!

I told the clerk while checking out and he didn't seem concerned at all. He was sick and coughing on his hand and touching everything around him… even tho it was close to the shops and the fisherman's wharf it was not worth the money over charge parking and charge to check in early (which I have never been charged at big hotel chains ever before)

Cheap stay for a room that was used for only sleeping 1 night. No a/c but we knew this already. My boyfriend says there were insects that bit him — it seemed clean otherwise, but do not recommend for this reason. Staff was friendly and kept our bags while we had lunch before check in and then for breakfast before checkout.

The outside and hallways are a bit scary, but the room was pretty good. We would have like a deadbolt on the door. We upgraded to "ocean view" which was a joke. If you went out on the balcony and leaned over the edge you could see a peek of the ocean. But the location is worth it! It is easy walking distance to pier 39 and all kinds of public transportation. Plus free parking! Is it the Ritz, no. But for San Francisco it is a good hotel at a good price!

Small rooms but affordable and free parking. It isn't lavish but it's a good place to stay that won't break the bank. Just around the corner from the wharf and within walking distance to many points of interest. Beds are comfortable. No mini-fridge in the room.

Nice place well located. There's no lobby. I needed a bath before I stayed but there was no. Only in the rooms.

The location was great. Walking distance to everything. The beds were comfortable. The price was a bit high and the shower could use some updating. Did find a few ants in our room also.

Doesn't have air conditioning but I've come to learn not many places in SF do, it also didn't have a mini fridge like it said it did but that didn't bug me. It seemed pretty clean on the inside I mean as clean as a motel will be. I was able to get up first thing in the morning and have coffee on the beach with my husband and it was a stones throw from pier 39 so that was cool. You can also uber it to China Town or little Italy if you are craving either of those types of foods. Parking is 15$ extra if you get there before check in which I guess is worth it if you otherwise would have to park somewhere else. There's a baked potato shop across the street that looks amazing.

Great location next to the wharf, secured access to elevator/rooms, nice staff and clean spacious rooms! I gave the rating a 3 because no where on there website did it say "NO" AIR CONDITIONING! It was a cool night so the fans they provided helped and we slept okay.

Rooms were nice and clean, with friendly staff. Room was right by fisherman's wharf. Location was convenient, but lots of noise at night.

Here you pay for the location, this is namely phenomenally very close to Pier 39, the rooms are normal Motelstandard but without breakfast, we paid €200 for 4 people per night, which is probably one of the more favorable options for high season in San Francisco.

I mistakenly booked this hotel through a third party, and the third party was more than willing to accommodate my request to cancel the reservation with the hotel's blessing. The first person I spoke to at the hotel — — three days ago — — — told me I needed to contact the third party to settle the matter. Since then, every time the third party or myself have contacted The Wharf Inn we've been told there isn't a staff member on site that can authorize a cancellation. This morning we were told there wouldn't be such a staff member for another two days. The reservation is scheduled to begin tomorrow. How can anyone run a business like this? I don't understand all these other reviews that mention positive, helpful staff. In addition to this overall massive problem, everyone I've spoken to has been very anxious to get off the phone. I may update this review after being forced to stay one night but that seems unlikely.

The Hotel was very nice No breakfast. We see that these are docks transformed into a hotel.

My husband and I were at the Wharf Inn for 3 nights the first week of August. I can't say enough nice things about our stay. The staff was super friendly and accommodating (they even helped me get a later check-out time after an airport snafu) and the room itself (the deluxe king with partial ocean view) was immaculate! The Inn was either in walking distance or a short drive to everything we wanted to do. It suited us perfectly. The bed was clean and super comfy — a real treat to fall into after a full day of sightseeing! The amenities are basic, true. However we didn't come to California to sit in a hotel room all weekend! It had EVERYTHING we needed. (If there's something you need they don't provide, there's a 7-11 across the street! ) There is no AC, but in August the temps are so that it wasn't needed anyhow. We will absolutely stay here again! Thank you to the staff at the Wharf Inn for making our weekend getaway something special!

Great location Spacious room. Discreet Wi-Fi.

The bed and carpet were new. The bed was great to sleep in. The room was facing the wall but was able to walk around to see the city. They do warn guests that water does fluctuate. Our air conditioner in our room was not working. You can open the windows. It is walking distance for attractions so it starts to get noisy around 8am.

California King Beds. That's the best thing about the place. Amenities are very basic. No fridge, no AC. Parking is included in the price. And it's only a few feet from Fisherman's Wharf, so easy access to everything fun. Security, despite its looks (this was built in 1959, after all), is very tight. Absolutely no access to the hotel without a card key.

My husband and I checked in on May 16th, 2017. The staff was helpful in directing us to parking and also in giving directions to local attractions. Having never visited California before we were delighted at the hospitality we received. I ALWAYS check for bugs before we even bring in our luggage and this room passed with flying colors. It was clean and comfortable. The bed was soft and our air worked just fine (built in to the heat) All three staff members that we encountered were full of smiles and very professional and they ALL were very helpful to us!

The amenities listed for this place should be corrected. They do NOT have air conditioning in the rooms. You don't learn this tidbit until after you have checked in. The first 2 days of our stay it was unusually warm in SF and our room was stifling hot. The only (mimimal) relief was from a ceiling fan and a small desktop fan that was connected to an extension cord that I don't believe would pass a fire safety inspection. On the third day it cooled off and they had the heat on. However, we could not control the temperature and the room was still too hot! Cleanliness was also an issue. No plastic liners for the ice bucket. Who knows what people might have used it for before us… yuck! They supplied reusable plastic cups that the cleaning staff just rinsed and placed back near the sink without sanitary covers to keep them clean… another yuck. I didn't notice because I was preoccupied with the heat, but my wife said that the floor didn't appear to have been vacuumed during our entire visit. On a positive note, the bed was comfortable.

The Wharf Inn may not be the Hilton, but the rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, staff is friendly, parking is free, and in a world where your charged for everything, it was a great place to stay. Pier 39 is super close, dinning and entertainment is everywhere. Yes, the noise can be an issue, but not as bad as others post, get over it. This place is a hidden gem in our book.

First of, FREE PARKING! I'm giving this place a 5-star review for two reasons. Front desk staff is customer driven and beds/pillows are comfortable. Steven, if you're reading this, keep up the good work! Steven was a joy to interact with, we had many questions about main attractions and public transit. Steven took the time to guide us and provide us with a map. Also, the front desk staff really knows the city… which helps when your touring. Hot coffee is available 24/7. Overall, hotel can use some remodeling along with soundproof walls. If your a light sleeper, earplugs are a must. It's a hole in the wall hotel but it has its charm.

I stayed here for 3 days while in San Francisco. I must have had one of the older rooms. I got a good deal through the Oracle conference. I was on the first level. It was noisy and I could hear everything outside my room. The room was comfortable and had everything I needed. The closet was huge but the motion detector to activate the light was not working. The front desk staff was friendly and check in and out was easy. Location is also not far from the financial district or the bay which is a plus.

Dont let the sketchy exterior fool you! The rooms were very clean and well done. The best feeling pillows and mattress I had on a hotel stay in a long time! Had a great night sleep!

Loved the place its a lil hole in the wall but good front desk and close to everything we wanted to do in San Francisco.

The Wharf Inn was very accommodating. We arrived early and were allowed to park at the hotel. The room was decent. The location is very cliae to fiaherman's wharf which is great for tourists. It is a noisy area and was noisy at night. But overall my stay at the Wharf Inn was enjoyable.

Okay, so the room is only a so-so room, and a little shabby, but it was clean. You could not beat the location! We were in walking distance to everything. The beds were brand new and so comfortable that we were sound asleep as soon as we got into bed. They were some sort of seedy looking people around, but nobody gave us any trouble at all. After all, you will find homeless people in big cities. We were two "older" women traveling together and were never afraid. I would definitely stay at The Wharf Inn if I went back to SF.

Absolute hellhole, each room first smells very very musty they are drab very old cheap furnishings very depressing rooms. The sheets had stains on (they'd tried to clean them but stubborn stains remained) there was pubic hair in the bed also. The building is ugly and seedy looking but the absolute worse thing about this place is the kind of people you find outside I was absolutely petrified the drunks scream stare and yell in your face one guy punched my handbag from underneath as I was trying to walk quickly by and notake eye contact, there were als several larger an looking guys with pit bulls some having 2 each, we prebooked through Expedia and we didn't even stay one night as the walls were what seemed paper thin you could here every word from the loud people next door we were whispering I was very worried for my belongings as they kept trying to open the interconnecting door which was to me terrifying very loud and just awful.

This hotel was perfect for what we were looking for, centrally located to fisherman's wharf and walking distance to so many other places. The room was not very large and there is no AC but the room was clean and even in August we didn't need AC, plus we didn't come to San Francisco to spend a lot of time in our hotel room so the size wasn't an issue. The front desk staff were super sweet to us. It gets a little noisy at night but the front desk had ear plugs when we requested them. Overall I enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to someone looking for good location and price.

Based on the high price and good pictures, I thought itd be great for a vacation weekend stay. But while tge guys at tge desk were clean cut and friendly, the rest is a shabby motel. The couch had gashes on it, the wallpaper was stained and peeling, the carpet had stains, and the halls and stairs were old and grimy. We ended up going to a different hotel, which for the same price gave us a clean room and equally easy access to the wharf.

Right on Fisherman's Wharf! EVERYTHING is in walking distance. Spent 3 days/nights here and walked 23 miles. Shops, museums, Pier 39, Alcatraz ferry, Golden Gate Bridge (3.8 miles), the famous San Francisco trolleys. Walked to them all with zero problems and 4 kids. Reviews say rooms are outdated but it just gives it that old style charm. Signs are posted about water temp fluctuations, however, I never experienced any what-so-ever. The Wi-Fi was a little spotty, but let's be honest. You're not staying here to be in the room on your phone/laptop. The price you are paying is WELL worth the location. Did not need a vehicle the entire time I was here. If you want to be close to everything. Stay here! You won't be disappointed.

You will pay top price for something worse than Motel 6. Also, my car was backed into in the garage and they are acting weird and saying "the cameras do not show it due to angles" and they are "not liable". I never asked them to pay anything, I asked them to tell me who did it. SHADY! That is apparently how you treat a customer that pays almost $300 a night for your 1 star dirty motel.

This was the worst motel I've ever stayed at. I've been to cleaner hostels then this place. Not only that but the night time security guard was one of the biggest creeps I've ever come across. My girlfriend and I were walking back to our room and he followed us back then "hid" around the corner from our room and spied on us. When we opened the door to confront him he claimed that he was security and we were being noisy…. Neither of which I think are true. If he was indeed security and we were being noisy then why the creeping around? Why not just knock on our door and give us a warning? This little weirdo had red flags all over him. The walls in this place are so paper thin that I could clearly hear the people next to us converse. You can also forget about having a normal shower, as the water temperature fluctuates at an insane rate. Everything smells like chlorine but there was no swimming pool or hot tub on site. The only good things I have to say is that the front desk staff was very helpful and pleasant and if you enjoy fisherman's wharf then this is a prime location to stay. In conclusion, the overpowering smell of chlorine, the outdated dirty rooms and the creepy "security" man left me with the impression that I might be murdered here.

Growing up in SF and spending lots of time on the wharf, I always wished I could be one of the lucky people staying at the Wharf Inn and hang out on the balcony watching the people go by. A zillion years later, whenever we return to the City to visit family, I get to stay at the Wharf Inn! It's wonderful! Service is great. Location can not be beat. Affordable for those of us on a limited budget. I would highly recommend this hotel. Wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else.

Spend the weekend in San Francisco and booked at The Whalf Inn. You can't beat the location. The staff was excellent and very helpful. Not to mention the plus of having free parking was great. Only complaint is that the walls are very thin and you can hear EVERYTHING that goes on in the rooms next to you. The hotel is pretty run down looking and is in need of major updating but was kept in clean condition. We would stay again however and all in all wasn't a bad experience.

Me and my daughter went down for a over night, girls night to Fisherman's Wharf. I am pregnant, so it was important to find a location close so I could come back to the hotel and rest when tired! It was a PERFECT location. The front desk staff was WONDERFUL and it was pretty secure. They let us park the day of our checkin at 10am, and got us in a room too that early! We walked back and fourth all day and night. The next day we checked out at 10am but they let us leave our car until 3pm! So we spent a whole extra day at the wharf and shopping. It was easy access. The only thing is one of the guests car alarm went off all night when the big trucks would go by, and it is a busy street, so didn't sleep all that great. Got a room with a balcony, even though it says no smoking, people stand on their balcony and smoke and it blows right into your room. Also the lamps and outlets sparked when plugging in cell phone and turning on and off. For the money and location though, I would most likely stay again.
