Excellent, 6 star service, huge thanks to Nala M. I was looking for a Hotel on Saturday due to my Apartment getting fumigated and was looking for a cheap hotel at last minute. Thankfully Nala took care of me and got a me a great clean room and provided great service. Thank you again!

Friendly and helpful staff that's good at directing and recommending. Room was a bit dated but everything seemed clean. Really thin walls though.

To start, we didn't end up staying at this location due to what we found upon getting to the location. Front desk staff was very nice and I believe they know they are working at a subpar hotel, they didn't even question us when we told them that we didn't want to stay. 1 Mold in the room 2 Light fixture was molded and rusty 3 shower head was calcium covered 4 smokey smell in room 5 cigarette burns on the bedspread Hopefully they fix issues at this location in the future!

Staff was very kind. Breakfast was fine. First we had trouble even getting our key to work, no big deal. TV did not work. Cigarette burn right through the blanket. Multiple strands of hair in our sheets.

A very accommodating place to stay (especially with occasional events happenings nearby). Our group and I requested if we could book an extra night because we were too tired. The staff took good care of us!

Average Hotel. The room had a cigar smell (although smoking is not allowed), however we were moved quickly. The pool is super small and not heated.
"Free" breakfast is only breads, cereals and juices, nothing spectacular. If you're just looking for a place to spend the night this is a good option for the price.

It is a centrally located hotel to move to several places in San Diego. It's close to one of the terminals.

I forgot the young lady that helped me out but she was very nice and helpful when I went to go see my son graduate from the Marine Court this was in November the 1st thank you very much.

First of all, No hot water so I had to take a bird bath. That alone should be one star. There were "shady individuals" lurking around the grounds when my friend and I arrived in the evening. Everything in the hotel was dated from the decor to the bathroom fixtures. After all of this, I do not think I would be staying there again.

Good Place to stay if you're here for MCRD San Diego. Decent Place. Only thing is room smelled heavily of cig smoke. Ironically there was a placard in plain view stating no smoking. Oh well. Breakfast was pretty decent as well and the one women employee was very helpful in cheering up the mood. I cannot remember her name but you don't need a name to know who I'm talking about. Keep it up.

Nice and clean. Basic but great for the price. Paper thin walls though. We were disturbed late at night by next rooms TV.

Clean and spacious room. Bathroom was really clean. There was plenty of parking available. Front staff was nice and friendly. Will stay here again next time im in the area.

This place is in a fantastic location, it's clean, and the majority of the staff is awesome. The amenities are pretty solid, too, especially for the price. It's always nice staying here.

The staff was helpful and very professional, they helped with every question and helped with directions. The room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Didn't even hear the outside traffic. I plan to book here again my next visit. This visit was a special early Bday present for my 14yr old who's been asking to come to Cali forever… first time to Cali… he especially enjoyed the continental breakfast (waffles) … thank you for a stress free lodging experience. Cj.

Fairly priced, good location with some good eating options nearby and close to the airport. The rooms are no frills, the carpet is outdated. Bathrooms were clean but hot water was non existent so if that's on top of your list be warned. Internet was spotty at best in the room and Ok in lobby area. Staff was friendly.

Wonderful, Friendly customer service from Sandy, our shuttle driver, and Nala & Dobri, the Front desk clerks! VERY clean room! The tub was shining which tells me it was cleaned really well. Fairly spacious in-room refrigerator. Had an issue with a non-working light which turned out to be an outlet problem. Even though we told the office we could wait until the morning they fixed it right away. Please do NOT be swayed by the exterior. The rooms seem to have been upgraded in the last several years. Very nice stone counter tops in the bathroom & area just outside the bathroom. This outer space also has a large mirror which works great as a secondary area to use for getting ready when more than one person occupy the room.

Staff here is very nice! The breakfast that is offered is waffles, toast, yogurt, some cereal and fruit. The bathrooms are updated the rest of the rooms are stuck in another year. The rooms are very clean, and close to Starbucks, Jamba Juice and a great bagel place! We would stay here again.

We made our reservations online. Called, multiple times, and spoke to staff at Howard Johnson San Diego Sea World, 3330 Rosecrans St to ensure our three rooms were on the ground floor (my wife is disabled) and the rooms were connected (medical reasons). Also confirmed total cost including taxes and fees. On the morning we hit the road for our vacation we called once again to confirm all was as it should be and were assured all was in order. Upon checking in Dave told us the price quoted did not include taxes or fees, the only room on the ground floor was out back and the other two rooms would have to be upstairs. Dave did offer to give us three rooms side by side upstairs. What part of “my wife is disabled and can not climb stairs” did he not understand? We decided to go ahead and take the room downstairs since we’d been driving for ten hours and we were exhausted. We opened the door to the room and the stench hit us. Old cigarette smoke mixed with mildew. Thought maybe the place just needed airing out and tried to turn the AC on. Try as I might, the AC didn’t work. Back to the front desk where Dave tried telling me I did not understand how a simple thermostat works. I explained, I’m an electronics technology application engineer. Dave laughed in my face. We cancelled our reservations with this property, called Best Western and enjoyed our vacation in clean, well ventilated rooms with excellent, knowledgeable staff. Now you know.

Nice hotel. Rooms are a bit cramped but parking is accessible. I enjoyed my stay there. Just a short drive from the sights of San Diego.

Free breakfasts from 6am to 9am. Well-equipped rooms with coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge.

It was a nice small place that supplied the most that they could offer. The breakfast was nice and the inn keeper was extremely kind. The location was convient too because it was across the street from a lot of restaurants so a car was not needed to travel. The rooms had two beds and a bathroom with a counter top in front of the bathroom. I satayed there to see my cousin graduate from the Marines. I highly recommend that others stay there if they need to stay for a few days.

Room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast every morning. The downfall, watch your banking statement closely. I've had issues of bogus charges they deny. My bank worked with me.

We got bitten by bed bugs all over. The water pressure in the shower was weak. The shower water temperature at night on the third floor got very hot but on the first floor in the morning was barely warm. Rooms were large. The AC worked well. The beds were comfortable. Flat screen TVs were had good pictures. Due to the BED BUGS we would not stay here again or recommend to others. We told the staff about it, but they could not find a manager to speak to. They said they would check for bed bugs and if they found them they would give us a discount on the room rate. They said we could just leave and the discount would go back on our card automatically. For bed bugs, I would expect a full refund immediately.

BED BUGS: We thought this place was perfect. Rooms were clean. This place was picked because of it perfect proximity to MCRD and other places we planned to visit. It was comfortable and we didn’t notice any of our bites until the day we were leaving. Currently I’m covered with more than 100 bites and my husbands just surfaced today with more than 200. We will be contacting the hotel and Wyndham resorts!

Nice hotel for the little time we spent there. Would definitely stay there again if needed. Washer and dryer were decent and worked well.

Nice but shuttle service was always booked even though they said it would be available upon booking rooms.

This place was awful. Pros: Early check in sometimes available. Office staff is friendly. Cons: Room was barely clean. There were no fitted sheets on the beds. There were two flat sheets, a stained white blanket, and a tattered "comforter". If we rolled over funny, the bottom sheet would pull away from the top of the bed, and the mattress would be completely visible. I got to take a shower with a couple bugs. Don't know what they were, but they died easy. TV didn't work. Wi-Fi didn't work. $101 for the room (which was the discounted rate…) and we could not wait to get out of this room.

Perfect for a short stay wanted a hotel next to the Casino View Center definitely walking distance. Also the staff was friendly, rooms were clean.

The staff was nice and professional but when you pay almost 200 a night for a old room that dingy, dirty and just not up to par with comparable hotels, you feel ripped off. There were stains on the blanket covers, the entrance to our room had cracks in the floor (the Door mat was on the inside of the room) which seem weird until I looked underneath and knew why. They were trying to cover it up. The cable box wires were too short so you had to literally be standing in front of the TV to use the remote control. The wall AC unit smelled funny and every time it turn on and off, it sounded like an airplane taking off. The floor felt sticky and dirty so we left our shoes on. And the location of our room had parking right in front but it was angle so every single time you had to leave, a three to four-point turn was required. The room wasn't entirely all bad. It did have a small microwave and a refrigerator and the bathroom was actually decent but again, for the value, I would not even pay $100 for this room. They really need to clean better and just remodel so their pricing is justified.

It has been pretty great! Clean rooms. Good service. Close to a lot of restaurants and shops. Definitely would come back!

Low-end hotel. Just for a couple of nights. Very noisy.

Incompetent staff, rude and often annoyed with simple questions, don't bother talking to the staff at the front desk they don't have time to waste even talking to paying guests. If you have a choice stay some where else, this place doesn't need your business.

From the façade (and probably name) of the hotel, it doesn't seem like the hotel would be impressive on the inside; however, the rooms are quite nice for the price. Besides a slight problem with the thermostat — it was fixed after a bit of tinkering — and the speed of the Wi-Fi, everything else was pretty solid. Nice bathrooms, TV channel selection, and beds. I didn't try the breakfast, so I can't speak to that but Einstein's Bagels and Starbucks is across the street. Go and treat yoself to a nice breakfast instead of the continental — your body is a sanctuary so treat it like such.

It was a clean and nice, the rooms were clean, and the other amenities were decent. The shuttle services were perfect if your going somewhere, and despite the bums walking around the neighborhood, everything was OK here.

Nice small inn. Has good rooms, the normal breakfast, and acceptable (for reading) Wi-Fi. Is on a busy road so kind if hard to get out of if you need to go left.

Transients walk through the premises. Luggage dissappears… not enough parking in the front of a person's room overflow parking is behind the building where it's more of an alley. It doesn't feel fire code safe in the front or the back … free breakfast or not gotta be a stupid schmuck to stay here.

I personally enjoyed my stay here. We were here for the weekend and we're happy with the survive we received. Staff was friendly and attentive, if we visit SD we are definitely checking in here again.

We wanted to stay in San Diego on budget and chose the Howard Johnson Sea World. The hotel is located pretty much in the middle of the city so that it is a short 15 minute drive to the beach or to downtown. It is a good location if you want to do things in different parts of the city and you have a car available. Outside of the hotel you will find some restaurants and shops, but there is nothing really fancy there. When we arrived we experienced a warm welcome. The complementary Wi-Fi is a little tricky, but once you succeed in getting connected it runs okay. From time to time we had some drop-outs through. We missed house keeping a couple of time. We figured out that if you put the “do not disturb” sign up and they pass your room they will not come back later. Sometimes they forgot to refill some small items (like coffee filters, showering shampoo, etc. ), so the house keeping service was not the best. The rooms have quite thin walls. We had some room neighbors that preferred to spend their evenings outside talking, we could literally understand every word, so you might want to bring some ear plugs just in case. Overall the stay was okay for the money we spent. Probably there are better hotels around. We might return one day, but also consider other places.

We stayed for 5days. Our Frist room smelled like it had mold and we had incident with the sheets not being clean. The second room was okay but smaller. The location of the hotel is perfect. Very close to a lot of restaurants and sea world. At night its hard to fine parking so you have to make sure you get back early over all our stay was okay but we wont be back.

I Booked one night and I have to say this place is great! The front desk clerk (Dobri) was very courteous and he remembers your name the first time you check in. The room was nice, everything was clean and the rooms are good size! I got the king size bed and its pretty comfy. I'll definitely be back when I come here for work.

Booked 2 nights and was excellent! CLEAN room! Free breakfast to get you energized and going. $4 shuttle to sea world! Right across the street anything you need, restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy, star bucks. Perfect.

Not bad for the price. It was clean and not too run down. Walls are thin and breakfast was lacking with only bread, pastries and waffles, two kinds of cereal and juices, and coffee. Nothing else, not even peanut butter or bananas or yogurt. Wi-Fi was good and the bed was comfy. Parking is free and laundry facilities were nice.

Do not stay at this dump. You cannot get wash clothes, the front desk people are shady and if you like the smell of weed you will love this place. It does have a pool but the three chairs are broken and the grounds are dirty. Thumbs down.

Room was clean and staff was ok. Refrigerator was full of mildew and save had no batteries. Location is great to make excurses because you are near to a freeway. Walls of the rooms are very thin. Depending your neighbor it can be loud. Parking and wireless are free. I can recommend to stay one or two days to explore san diego.

I stayed here for two nights when visiting San Diego with family in June, 2014. We spent most of our time in downtown and nearby area, so the location is perfect. Not sure if the hotel is new or recently renovated, but at least that's the impression I got. The room (with 2 queen beds) is quite spacious and Wi-Fi here is also excellent. In addition, there are lots of restaurants around the hotel, all in walking distance. I had a great time staying here. For those who's visiting San Diego, definitely consider it.

Awesome hotel, near all stores and seaworld. Excellent staff and the breakfast and shuttle is a Big A+! I recommend this then all other hotels. Free parking, Wi-Fi, breakfast and airport shuttle and seaworld shuttle.

We came to San Diego to see our son graduate from the Marines Boot camp. I wanted to stay someplace fairly close but not right on the freeway, This place worked great. The room was very quiet, the beds were great. I am always sore staying in hotels, but these beds were very nice and comfortable. I slept great. The rooms are basic but large. Ours had a fridge and cabinet to put our food in. The shower tub combo was large and clean. The room also has an air conditioner, which is needed because of the humidity in the area. The manager, Dobri, was very nice and patient, he changed my room right away when I requested a downstairs room. He was very nice to us.
