This was a busy Hotel and well laid out. The staff was extremely friendly and proactive. My only concern with the room was how dirty it was, how poorly it smelled (air conditioning unit and bathroom) and how many items there were in the room and bathroom that needed to be addressed. It's as if someone had started a remodel, but didn't finish it. The room desperately needed to be deep-cleaned in every aspect. Again, all of the staff were extremely courteous, respectful and professional. For what that hotel has to work with, I think they do a decent job.

My wife and I had spent the day driving up the coast and weren't sure about driving back home or not, but we didn't want to break the bank staying overnight in the Monterey Peninsula. We paid $118 (with tax), which was about as cheap as there was in this area. The room was simple, but clean. The staff was friendly. And the area was ultra-secure. They had a guard checking our parking pass when we came back from dinner and a Salinas PD patrol car passing through the lot the next morning. They even had a cute cat (named M6) roaming the grounds. So we were more than happy with our experience here. Thanks, Motel 6!

I liked the convenience of the location, the room seemed clean and was comfortable. The bathtub didn't have a plug, so I had to improvise to take a bath, but other than that, the room was good. It was a noisy place — mostly other customers I think — maybe the rooms could have had better sound insulation. I very much appreciated the dog-friendliness of the place — lots of grass and and areas to walk (clean up bins placed for dog poo weren't stocked with bags, but I always have my own). I'll definitely stay there again when I'm in the area!

Room was terrible. The neighborhood it was in is dirty. Silverfish bugs in room. Comforter had large stains on them. No fan in bathroom. Pool was closed. Service people were nice. Defenetly not worth the money spent on the room.

I had the office clerk give me her name on a piece of paper at the Kern st motel 6 in salinas I don't remember her name but I wanted to leave a complement about the office staff as a group they made me feel at home as you say at motel 6 "they left the light on for me" THANKS.

Booking was available to do online which was convenient, check-in was extremely fast for how busy the attendants were! The room was not very clean, the ice bucket had dirt remnants all over it, and there were cigarette butts on the bathroom floor. Cleanliness definitely has room for improvement, hospitality was great though. The room was not worth the price.

Check was fast and the clerk was very friendly. The room itself was not up to par with what I have come to expect of motel 6. One of the beds was missing it's top cover and the blanket had a very visible cigarette burn on it. When we went to lock the deadbolt it was broken and would not engage. The top slide lock was working but had obviously been kicked in a few times and been replaced. I had to move the bed against the wall so my young child would not fall off in the night. In doing so I discovered a half eaten granola bar and other trash under the bed. The floor had not been swept very well or mopped at all. Me and my kids feet were very dirty with in minutes. The second day the cleaning service was much better but they threw away the plastic cups and did not replace them. Also the remote for the barely worked and the Wi-Fi that I paid for had very bad signal and kept disconnecting from any device I connected with.

The door of room 202 was extremely difficult to open and close. Unless you absolutely slammed the door with all your might it could be pushed open with force. We asked for a “do not disturb” door tag at front desk and were told none were available. We asked for no maid service the following day as we were only there for two nights. When we returned the following day after being gone till after dark, we arrived to A WIDE OPEN DOOR! Housekeeping had not gotten the message apparently and cleaned our room, and subsequently did not lock or even adequately close our door. Thakfully, and amazingly, none of our stuff had been stolen. The floor near edge of bed was dirty. The toilet bowl had black stains and in desperate need of bleaching.

Quick and friendly check in process. Everything in the room was in good shape and worked. (The TV remote battery cover was missing but the remote worked fine. ) Staff responded quickly to a request for extra towels.

I give three stars only because of the excellent service I received from the clerk at the front desk. I wish I had her name. Motel 6's are usually very good and could be rated at least a four if not a five. In all fairness, part of my issue is some of the clientele were somewhat unsavory and I know you can't control that. The neighborhood is a little seedy to begin with. My only other issue is the room service was somewhat inconsistent and one maid sort of coaxed me into not making her give the full room treatment as I was a multiple night guest. One day I found there were not any plastic cups and another day I was short a towel. These are not big things in themselves although they leave you with a nagging feeling things are not up to par.

One of the nicest Motel 6 properties we've stayed at! We travel frequently throughout the west and count on Motel 6 to keep us in budget. Unfortunately, we've discovered that each property has it's own standards, many of which are quite low. This property was lovely, clean, and well managed. The staff was prompt, pleasant and helpful.

Not enough amenities for the cost. Nothing other than soap in the room. Not even coffee, shampoo or lotion. Dicey characters around the property and didn't feel safe. If my husband wasn't with me I would not have stayed. Light bulbs missing. The tub looked like it had either mold or soap scum. Very scratchy and thin towels.

I had a very bad experience at this Motel 6. First, I was put into Room 135 where I heard loud noises (like a jack hammer several times) when people in other rooms would turn on their faucets. Sometimes the sound was preceded by a loud whistling. No one could have gotten asleep in that room. Then, I was given a second room, 150, which turned out to be a double-room in which I could hear the loud talking that was going on even though it was after 10 pm. The room also had a faint smell of weed. Finally, I was put into room 112 where I was able to sleep. I was hoping for some kind of discount for the inconvenience of having to pack up twice and move — something which I've never had to do before in any motel or hotel.

I was very happy with this Motel 6. All of the beds are queen size, which is not the case at all Motel 6 motels. The staff at the front lobby were very pleasant, the room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and it was nice and quiet inside and out. My one complaint is that they don't have cup lids for the free coffee in the front lobby, and I spilled the coffee while walking back to my room, and I would not be able to bring it with me in my car. Overall, though, you can't beat the price or the value!

The room where we stayed the first night was very dirty and it smelled like smoke and dirty socks. I could not sleep there another night as it was causing me to cough so much. The girls in the front let me and my family change rooms. The room did not smell but it was dirty. There were hairs all over the tub and the skirt of the bed was dirty. I would never come back here. I reserved 4 rooms for two nights and one of the rooms did not get cleaned while we were out. The other rooms were also dirty. We come to salinas about 2 times a year and I will never stay here again or recommend any one to stay at that motel again! 9

I'm not one to complain, but over the past year I have stayed at the motel 6 in Santa Maria, Los Banos, Hayward and Salinas. Four times the heater in different motels the heaters have not been functioning — both those operated by thermostat and the under the window models. It seems to me, this cannot be a coincidence. Either the motels are skimping on maintenance or the heaters are disabled as a cost cutting measure.

Your maids where very nice. You need to make sure that you have all of the stuff for all of the rooms all the times. You should sometimes go behind them to make sure that they are doing a great job for you. Another thing is you might want to check all of the rooms door handles. The one on the room was very hard to open. The security lock was very loose.

The same day I was to arrive I requested a room on the ground floor so I could move my equipment in there without walking up steps. So they gave me a handicapped room in the front. It was clean and plenty big enough. It was not noisy and everything worked. The wooden seat in the tub (for handicapped people) had screws that were coming out of the wall, but no big deal for me as I did not need it. The place was quiet at 11:30pm when I arrived. I did not see any people. There was a security guard out front with a night stick. After I drove around back to park there was a Salinas police car also in the parking lot driving out. So it seems they are keeping an eye on this motel. It was up to Motel 6 standards and was at a good price, and a great value for the money. I would go back.

House keeper needs to clean better, when we got there on Friday the floors were very dirty through out the room and bathroom and under beds! Bath tub had what looked like someone cleared their throat and spit it in tub, after our first night there we thought for sure housekeeping would clean, we were gone for the day and when we came back it was the same! The only thing done, was one bed was made and a few new towels added.

My stay here on a Sunday night went smoothly, checked in with no delay and went to my room which was nice and clean. No noise or anything to keep me awake, slept well. Thanks Motel 6 Salinas North!

I've stayed at a lot of motel 6 in my travels. This one is by far the cleanest. Rooms look totally renovated and great TV with all the desired channels. I want to give a personal shout out to Hermes on the evening shift. He was awesome! Give him a raise!

Easy to find front desk clerk was super friendly pleasant and helpful. The room was clean smelled clean and bed was nice and comfy. We had no disruptions of noise or neighbors. Only thing was that our parking spot got taken and we had to park a ways from our room. I would have liked it if each parking spot had the designated room marked on there. But other than that it was great.

Real dump. Lucky to get hand soap. I think place used for hookers. Scared to go outside. Homeless people hang out.

Room A/C very efficient; ice machine worked. Quiet at night. Minor wear and tear in room. It would be much cleaner if they would wash down the bathroom walls periodically.

Room was nice, clean and beds great. Was noise from guests next door most of the night. The staff should have told them to be quiet. Would be nice if the room included breakfast of some kind and Tea for those of us that don't drink coffee.

We were surprised to find that none of the motel 6's in the area were offering their usual rates (under $100/night), so we were already disappointed to be paying $149 for a very basic room. However when we arrived, we were even further disappointed to find that the non smoking room we had booked smelled very strongly of cigarettes. There were no other rooms available so the manager offered to take $30 off of our bill to help compensate for the smell. However, when we went to leave the room to go back down to our car, the door would not open. We were locked inside. There was no way out of our room, and, apparently, it would have worked for any key to get in. The manager had to call the locksmith and have a security guard come and guard our things while the door was being fixed. Thankfully, the manager decided to comp our room altogether. This would have been a horrifying experience were it not for the way he handled things. Thankfully, we were all able to laugh about it. I would have given out experience one star, if not for the manager on duty who honestly did the best he could with a pretty rotten situation.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. For the night-perfectly normal. Very clean and tidy. Wi-Fi, as far as I can remember, is paid, but inexpensive. Breakfast is not included. Ate in the city… No complaints and no problems arose. But we only had one night in it and stayed overnight… :)

Do not stay here** by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed at in my life for the price.! and I've been to MANY hotels. *the room smelled horrible *we got 1 thin blankets *the a. C. /heat was broken *the fire alarm beeped all night *there was hair in the tub *the cost was 30% higher than what we booked *management would not help with anything *they gave us a smoking room! *the floors were sticky It seems as if the owners or managers of this location are not aware of proper hospitality services. ****Dave yourself the aggravation and dry someplace else, the pictures are very deceiving**** We ended up leaving and got a room 10x better/modern/cleaner for 10 bucks less after taxes.

Decent place for small budget travellers. Neighborhood is just ok. There's nothing much to eat except fast food. Room was standard new design Motel6 type. Clean, basic, quiet and beds are fairly confortable. Staff was ok. Parking is available but was limited.

Locations are fine easy to see from the HWY. Rooms are not worth the price being paid. Most office staff are great. Although I did have something stolen from my room one time at one of the Motels 6's. Housekeepers are great though I think there is more to do than can be handled with the current staff. Rooms are cleaned but not detailed. They could use someone to just do detail in the rooms. Towels are hardly ready when needed due to theft.

$126/night (plus tax) for a single queen room is outrageous. At check-in I had to sign four different documents and fill in a form for parking onsite to be displayed on the dashboard. Who else does this? To make matters worse my car was vandalized over night sitting in from of my room (#132), this despite there being a "guard" on the premises. When I reported the vandalism to the room clerk, she called someone (Manager? Owner? ) who said to call the police and make a report. No apologies. I know Motel 6 North isn't "responsible for damage to vehicles", but still. On successive days I was given the wrong (outdated) passwords for the Wi-Fi. And I had to have the room key revalidated each day Wake up, Motel 6! Super 8 offers free Wi-Fi to all comers, not just AARP seniors and free breakfast without all the hassle described above.

Clean sheets, clean room, friendly staff, safest value motel with a night time security guard, its' right off the freeway, nice, easy comfortable for a quick overnight place to sleep. The freeway noise wasn't bad at all. I like staying at Motel 6 since I can bring my dog and the cost is reasonable. My room had no carpet, so dander from previous pet stays is not an issue. Good rest, good value.

Bad area bunch of hookers and druggies came here on business got harassed and kicked out by by crazy police wannabe. Security guard, banging on room door while I was sleeping to check how many people in the room. The second time banging on door trying to get in he comes with police and forced me out at midnight saying no visitors when I had two beds and double occupancy. Worse place ever police said this is their business practices here at this Motel and recommended me to a terrific new place. Oh did I forget to say two housekeepers male and female entered the room to put fresh towels day 4 and stole two cell phones out the troom when I was gone. Complained to corporate and property management. Nothing done no refund… smh.

The Motel has the new, updated rooms not the ones in most of the pictures on this site. The rooms were clean and everything was working. The bed was more comfortable than most Motel 6, but this may be just this room. Do NOT stay on the backside of the Motel, there seemed to be quite a few "guests" coming to and from those rooms. The sides of the Motel are better. This was a good value for the area and convenient to the peninsula.

Surprisingly decent hotel for a Motel 6 (and in Salinas CA). I stayed three nights during the Monterey historic car races for which the Salins-Monterey hotels all book up early, and all jack their prices up 2X — 4X (so even mediocre motels will charge $300-400/night). This Motel 6 also jacked their prices up, but in relative terms, it was still a great deal (I paid twice as much for an armpit before). The room and bed were decent. A real surprise was the (simulated) wood floor rather than carpet. Much more appealing and sanitary than 5-10 year old carpet (although, they probably could mop them more frequently). The staff was also friendly and engaging, although I didn't have much engagement. Overall a real good surprise (I was ready for another armpit experience).

It's a Motel 6! You get a bed, a bathroom, a TV and coffee from the office. Room 106, although handicapped accessible, was all they had so we took it because it was in the front and downstairs. Stayed 4 nights during Spirit West Coast; easy drive from there. You get what you pay for, and we got a good deal.

Basically a bed, bathroom, and walls. Pet friendly is always nice. Shitty quality, pretty much no amenities except TV and coffee in the morning. Price is always nice. Sketchy ass neighborhood. Results in 2/5 instead of 3/5. Salinas sucks ass.
