At the moment I walk in I got a good welcome.

I have already given an earlier 5 star review, but I left some of my gear, i. E. Grape juice and my sports bottle. They were kind enough to put it in cool storage till I would be coming back next.

Front desk was super helpful and rooms were clean and comfy. Small gym, washer, dyrer, pool and hot tub. Breakfast in the morning was great, way better than most hotels you go to. Would defienitly stay again.

It was a great hotel. I can see they recently did some remodeling. The beds were a little hard but that didn't stop me from sleeping the whole night. The room was very spacious and clean.

Elevator seems questionable. The door seems to be a bit untrusting. Seems like it doesn't close properly or all the way. The rooms are nice, very roomie. Comfortable bed. Clean, spacious, nice bathroom. Quiet at as well. Close to a few fast food places. Would recommend.

Love this hotel! Rooms clean and staff are always nice. We stay every time we travel up to Salinas. Breakfast is basic waffles, cereal, bagels but everything else is nice.

Very nice clean hotel. They had just refurbished interior and it was extremely clean and comfortable. We're always certain we will get good service and clean rooms whenever we stay at Best Western Hotels.

Been coming to this place and it's a good place to spend the night. Nothing too fancy and there's food all around. Was going to give 4 stars but remembered their breakfast option sucks. You will only find fruit, bagels and juices. If they had better breakfast options I would rate better.

This hotel is not safe. I realize crimes can happen to anyone, anywhere at anytime. We all do our best to protect our loved one's and ourselves. We buy our cars with our safety in mind. We buy home security services, surveillance cameras, and bright lights to protect us at home. But what about when we need to stay at a hotel/motel? Will they care about your families safety like you do? Does the hotel have their own security officers? Does it offer a secure, private parking garage or area? Suppose something happened to your family, you, or your property while staying at a hotel. Is the hotel partially responsible for any damages incurred to you or your car? To help protect your family and yourself, might want to keep one or all of those in mind when staying at a hotel. The Best Western hotel on Kern St. Fails in every aspect aforementioned. The hotel is located in a nasty part of town notorious for prostitution, large homeless population, drugs and armed robberies. There have been 2 homicides in less than a year across the street from this hotel. Salinas Police said they are frequently called to this area and this hotel. Vehicles parked at this hotel are definitely not safe. The police Dept. Has a stack of reports filed from people who were legally parked there and who's vehicle was broken into and robbed. The hotel does not have security officers and they won't call the police either.

Terrible. Staff are rude and unattentive, particularily the older man at the front desk. He approached me as I was unlocking the entrance door to our room. With his voice raised he said "visiting hours are over at 9 pm". He continued on a rant in front of other hotel guests, causing a commotion and humiliating me for no reason. He insisted there were numerous loud people in the room. Realizing no one was in the room, he walked away foolishly. Very unprofessional and humiliating, to say the least. As if that isnt bad enough, my mothers car was broken into in the hotels parking lot. We called local police to file a report. The officers told us this hotel has a long history of vehicle break ins. After a little research, we discovered 7 vehicle break ins were reported in less than 7 months. The hotel is not responsible for any of it. I suggest you check your insurance policies and deductibles if you plan to stay here. Rear window replacements cost about $500. According to the reports, all cars had the rear window smashed with a large rock. You would think the hotel owners would at the very least remove these large rocks but they have not. In fact, they haven't done anything other than deny the problem. There have been 2 homocides reported at the hotel across the street from the Best Western so far this year. Hope you dont interrupt a break-in in progress (if you do, you might be no. 3). The staff told us they do not have a parking lot attendants nor any security officers.

Great for the price, front desk people super friendly. I felt lucky to get this hotel, monterey was 99% booked and th e 1% available was super crazy expensive. Breakfast was included — not awesome but enough to start. Nothing fancy but good.

This hotel is great. I would highly recommend. The staff is great and professional. The hotel is clean and they make you feel very safe. Right next to In and Out Burger.

Larry is pretty cool, other than that it's in the hood. Not that bad though. Places to eat are within walking distance.

Came here to break up a long drive for Thanksgiving holiday. Great room. Was given a free upgrade to a suite, which is super nice. I thought the room would be super noisy because it was next door to a McD’s but I didnt even notice it. While the bed was a bit hard for my taste the room was very nice and clean and the hotel was easy to get too.

First, I want to warn you. Your family and you are not safe if you stay here. This hotel is located in a very bad neighborhood. There have been 2 homocides at the hotel across the street just feet from the Best Westerns entrance. The neighborhood's prostitution infestation is evident once the sun retires for the day. This hotel sits between a 24 hr McDonald's drive thru and a budget hotel. The highway is directly behind it. The entrance side faces a huge, "budget-friendly" apartment complex. This means lots of traffic, vehicle and pedestrian, 24 hrs a day. The parking lot for the Best Western is a magnet for thieves. Our car was broken into and our belongings were robbed during our stay. We were parked in the hotels parking lot, inches from the windows of rooms facing the entrance. If you intend to stay here, check your insurance policy coverage and deductible (average cost to replace an entire back window is around $500). The hotel is not liable for a single penny. They didnt even bother calling the police nor did they bother informing us about our vehicle despite being well aware it had been broken into. My daughter reserved and paid for 3 nights for us (Fri, Sat, Sun). We stayed only 2 nights. The Best Western brand can thank the negligent owners of this hotel for tarnishing its reputation. We will never stay at any Best Western ever again due to this entire experience.

Room — clean, nice, lots of space, comfortable bed. Breakfast are good. Location is ok. I like that there's alot of food options within walking distance and that is right next to the freeway. Overall service was a 3* out of 5 because the night receptionist was rude and made me feel discriminated. My friend that work for Best Western booked me the room at friends and family rate. However when I got there Larry (the receptionist) asked if I work for best Western. I told him no but my friend that book the room for me does. He than asked about her information and where she work. I called my friend and told her what happened she told me she submitted in the paper work with my name on there to the hotel. Larry than asked if he could talk to her. I told him, she doesn't speak English well. He rolled his eyes and told me she could get fire for this. At that moment I feel Larry was bring rude and racist. I feel like he was thearting to get my friend fire. He later did offered to change our rate to the friends and family. So we accepted that and stay at the hotel. However I feel Larry's behavioral toward this whole situation was wrong and rude. He could of simply told me my friend booked the wrong rate and show me the friends and family rate. Instead of asking to talk to my friend on my phone, than rolled his eyes because she only speaks a little English and told me she could fire for doing this. I will never stay at this Best Western Salinas ever again.

Sweet hotel personnel, clean rooms, free breakfast. Above average hospitality, and very clean, but hotel itself was basic. The staff make the hotel the best out can be :)

I stay at lots of Best Westerns all over North America. This is a pretty property in a bit of a sketchy area. The breakfast attendant is wonderful and does a great job. Maybe she should be put in charge of training the front desk. "Lazy Larry" was the single worst front desk person I have had the displeasure of meeting. The type of person who gives off the vibe that the guest is there to serve him and not the other way around. The only reason I am giving this a two star is because of the breakfast attendant.

We visited Salinas to see Kid Rock in concert. The room was clean & quiet! We were on the 1st floor and didn't hear any of our surrounding neighbors at all. Vanity was separate from the toilet & shower & had good lighting.

Very GOOD service I recommend asta you give breakfast for the cost of your room you rent and it is very clean all very friendly staff.

Rooms were clean and quiet, they offer complementary Continental breakfast (mini pancakes do taste better than normal ones). Initially put off about reviews about cars being broken into but had no issues with that. Make sure you take everything out of your car. I didn't grow up in a nice area, everyone around knew to not leave ANYTHING in the car including loose change, GPS/phone stands and chargers, packages and bags that look like they may contain stuff, etc. Little things some people wouldn't even think about covering/hiding. It doesn't matter if you're leaving your car for 10 minutes or overnight. Cover and hide your belongings, park it in a highly visible area. It sucks for the people who had to go through that ordeal, take it as a warning that even if the outside looks nice and clean (as this place does) that crime is still a very real possibility.

My sister and I stayed at the Best Western in Salinas, we were both very pleased with the clean, very comfortable room. They had a nice Continental breakfast in the morning. It was quiet even though it was next to the highway. I would for sure stay there again. The price was very reasonable. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.

My sister and I stayed at the Best Western in Salinas while visiting my daughter, the staff were very friendly, the room was nice and clean. It had a small frig. Microwave, and a coffee pot. Also an iron and ironing board, which I didn't use but it was there for convenience. They had a nice continental breakfast in the morning. The bed was very comfortable and it was conveniently located right off hwy 101 and next to places to get a bite to eat. It was very reasonably priced as well, I will stay there again!

Was actually not bad. Did the white glove test… passed, was impressed since someone had only given it a 3+… very convenient having In&Out nextdoor, an McD's right next to that… will let you know about the continental breakfast;)

I had a fantastic stay. The staff were all very nice and I even got some modifications done to my reservation just by mentioning that I wanted access to some things. Very accommodating and the manager asked repeatedly if I needed anything else and if I liked everything. Fantastic service I've seen in very few places and I travel a lot.

Location is easy to find. It's next to McDonald and In N Out. Night staff that checked me in was direct and not pleasant to chat with. Hotel is clean. Free Wi-Fi. Room is clean and spacious. It has microwave and a refrigerator. But continental breakfast could do more improvement on food choices. Overall, great stay so far!

The two beds are large and very clean! The rooms smell like they have been freshly painted. Would definitely stay here again.

I had a couple of issues with getting a smoking room after request a nonsmoking, the ac breaking down but finally Larry changed me to a third room and it was perfect for a 6 day stay. Management was always friendly and tried to help.

The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The complementary "breakfast" was a little sparse on selections and the coffee is some kind of instant. No too tasty. Still, this was a good stop for this weary road warrior and I would stay again. Overall, I got what I paid for.

Be careful staying at any of the motels on this street. Drug and prostitute infested.

This hotel is NOT located in Carmel at the address shown. Be sure to call ahead. Search engines are misleading.

I am not picky about hotel rooms usually, but I did not like this place. They advertise microwaves in the rooms. There are microwaves in the rooms but out of 4 rooms that we were in, only 1 of the microwaves worked. The carpets were in desperate need of cleaning. I took my shoes off in the room and 30 minutes later, the bottom of my socks were black. Plus the shower flooded the bathroom after every shower.
