Old Marina Inn Hotel

Owners are very sweet. The rooms are larger than average — there a lot of room to move. The pricing is fantastic for such a close location to the beach. I would definitely recommend staying here if you're in Monterey and don't want to pay an extreme amount for an average hotel.

The old Marina Inn is quite old but cozy. We were there for almost 3 weeks. The room was nice sized and had a fridge, coffee maker and microwave available. Basically it was clean and everything worked but it was also all quite old and I have, for example, the screw for the drawer handle simply have to tighten with the hand again something.
Shops are easily accessible and even within walking distance (approx. 400 meters The nearest real shop).
There are also many possibilities to go outside eating out in the vicinity. (Burger King, Japanese, pizza, …) And about 1 mile away is a Denny's.
For our purposes it was super located and pretty good.

It's a okay place to spend the night at but be wise the owners try to slap u in the face with the prices.

It was overall, a quiet time and if you consider that its not a luxury stay and have stayed at similiar places further inland you will greatlt appreciate that I did not see any bugs whatsoever. That alone was nice. Staff was ok but I would have liked her more if she would smile and not give me a lecture about running my motorcycle too long and wake the other guests which seemed innecessary to tell me. A mature man and alone. I can park a motorcycle without waking up the paying guests. I just felt it was innapropriate and not exactly polite seeing how I too was a paying customer. And my bike is not a loud Harley.

Best value in the area. Quiet, clean, 1950's motel.

Very quaint. Very close to a card room, a liquor store and a nightclub. Could use an update inside but fairly modern.

We were lucky to find a reasonably priced room here on a weekend when many other motels were already booked out or exceptionally expensive. The staff is so nice, the location is amazing – close to the beach, to food and shopping options and only a couple of minutes by car from Monterey depending on traffic. The rooms are a bit old-fashioned but very clean and spacious. We'd come back any time – highly recommended!

Staying at the Old Marina Inn is kind of like stepping back in time to the 1960s or so, during the age of mom and pop motels. The motel is indeed family run and its furnishings and style reflects the '60s as well. But not to worry, I found our room to be spacious (perhaps even huge), clean, and functional. And because there's only one story, the room was very quiet. Other aspects of the room were good as well. The bathroom was small, again circa 1967 I think, but in very good condition. The TV was HD and had a great variety of channels with a functioning guide. And the bed was very comfortable as well. The motel is about 20-30 minutes from the Monterrey Bay Aquarium, and is located near a number of places to get food like Starbucks and Round Table Pizza. The family managing the motel were pleasant and seem to take pride in their establishment. While $130 (the motel's going rate) is perhaps not a great bargain given the lack of amenities like a pool or a free breakfast, I do believe it to be reasonable for the area. The Inn will certainly be on my radar the next time I visit Monterrey Bay.

The place is a dive, even for the price. Room are not nice and the owner is very rude. I accidentally provided the wrong credit card and then she wouldn't switch it over to my correct business card because "it costs too much money. " They even had me email my credit card to a personal email address. This violates banking Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI) because they are not encrypting your credit card information, but I had no other choice. This wouldn't have been an issue if you could make reservations via a website. Definitely not for business travelers. I'm severely disappointed.

Great friendly staff and super affordable rates! So close to the beach and so convenient for everything you'd need on a road trip.

Large clean room, clean sheets and bathroom, Stayed two nights and would stay again.

Pretty dated decor. Other than that, worth the price. Parking lot can be a little noisy at times, but in the room you can't hear anything. Very convenient location.

I stay there a couple times a month when I go fishing. Usually you can get a room for 55$ tax included, unless the fair or a MAJOR event is happening. King bed-comfortable. Large room-clean and nice clean bathrooms etc. Yes the water is cold if your the first shower early am. I suggest let the water run for 3-4 min remember its an older hotel you pay less but its worth it. The tile in the shower is clean and comfortable to be in. Great cardroom close by as well The Marina club (Not Mortimers) small club but great poker 21 and black jack. The rate for room\value un beatable.

The family enjoyed there stay at this motel, the rooms were big, spacious and clean. The beds were very comfortable. Great Place would stay here again and a great rate compared to others.

This is no Motel 6. And in this case, that may be a good thing. This is an older motel, but it's very clean. The king bed in my room was surprisingly comfy. My room had a small fridge, a microwave, and coffee maker. It also had a tabletop electric fan that was nice for some dither noise during the night. If you just need a place to say for the night, like if you're in town for some sort of event, this place is worth considering. The rate was the same as Motel 6, at least when I stayed there (I'm writing this review the day after), especially if you don't want to get a room at one of the more expensive places in town.
