We were on our way to Napa for our anniversary when the fires started. Our daughter recommended this place and we are so please! It’s such a beautiful hotel and service is wonderful. They had a a bottle of champagne in our room waiting for us.

Love Shutters. One of my favorite hotels in the world. Great staff, ambience, rooms and amenities. Eye-wateringly expensive but there you go.

Always enjoy my stay at Shutters on the Beach. This trip was no different. Stopped in for a special occasion with my wife and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Even though we live in Silver Lake, it's nice to get away to the ocean at shutters. We always rent a bungalow. Some state that it's in need of renovation. I'd have to say it's a welcome throwback to the late 90s when I first started going here. Dinner at one Pico is always Pleasant. Another fine weekend stay at Shutters on the Beach. Thanks to the management staff for making our weekend special. It will always be remembered.

Location is great. Food leaves something to he desired. They could definitely step it up a bit for the prices they charge… At least the orange jiuce is fresh.

Excellent brunch location. Parking looks like a cluster but they have a system that works! Lemon Ricotta pancakes were divine! You can ask for a table by the window but there's views from almost every table. Friendly service. A bit pricey but if $16 mimosas don't bother you, you'll be delighted!

Probably my favorite stop on the trip. Great beachfront property, cute rooms, wonderful lobby, terrific breakfast room all right on the beach within walking distance to either Venice, the Pier or Santa Monica. Grad a Bird or Lime and enjoy!

Exquisite place. Direct on the beach like no other place in Santa Monica or Malibu Beach. Extremly friendly and professional staff. Happy looking faces, always smiling, professional. Well done Management, congratulation. This place stands out from all the luxury establishments in the area. No rival in sight, not even the Loews next door can compete. Staying in the SHUTTERS is the next best thing being in paradise. One steps out of the hotel directly onto the sand of the Santa Monica Beach into a paradise lined with palm trees. The pier is just the right distance away. One can see it but can't hear it. Yet a 5 minute walk to have all the entertainment on could wish. The SHUTTERS ON THE BEACH HOTEL is truly on the beach like no other place. Its interior is original, clean, vibrant. A restaurant (in and out door) and bar filled with light and leave no wish open. If you visit Santa Monica and you have not been to the SHUTTERS, you have not been in Santa Monica. The SHUTTERS is a must go. I highly recommend it.

A stunning, boutique hotel! Its absolutely amazing. We stayed here for a wedding. The wedding venue was really nice. Great place for celebrity sightings if you're into that. I fell in love with this place and will defintiely come back!

What an absolutely amazing experience my wife and I had at Shutters on the Beach. The rooms were immaculate and beautiful while the ocean views from our room were incredible and was the icing on the cake for us. The Lobby was well tidied and the staff very friendly and outgoing. All-in-all, I would rate Shutters on the Beach a 4.8/5 and would recommend it to anyone looking to lodge in an amazing hotel while in the Santa Monica, Ca area.

Good food, interesting chi chi menu. Appetizers were really good, but my entree was just OK. Good cocktails. Wonderful view. Traffic and parking in the area majorly sucks.

This would have been a 3 star review, but the manager made all the difference and saved the day. Here is the problem: the food great, the service is excellent, the price is from another planet. A piece of cake for $14 + tax is too much, especially considering that the plate had no garnish around it to fill the empty space. Maybe perhaps use smaller plates to make the size appear bigger or lower the price to more like $10 and allow people to enjoy a tasty slice of cake :)

Wonderful Hotel in Santa Monica. As a destination wedding photographer I've been lucky to shoot a lovely wedding reception there and it's an absolute gem on the beach with beautiful views. Can't wait to be back :)

Excellent service and good atmosphere.

Went there to grab a bite with a friend. I got salmon sandwich. He got a burger. The food was alright. I wish they had a better beer selection though. They only had a Guinness out of the darker ones. Will go again since it's conveniently located.

What a nice holiday that was.

My three girlfriends and I had brunch there on a Sunday morning after biking by the beach. It was a beautiful morning! I put my name down and they ask for your cell phone number to text you when your table is ready. Which was convenient way than having to hold on to a monitor.
The hostess said it would be 20 minutes wait. We walked around next door to Casa Grande hotel to wait inside and relax. It seems we didn't wait long until I received a text that we should make our way back to Coast. When we returned our table was ready. We were seated beside the window over longing the beach! Our sever was very nice and accommodating. We got our orders and the food was good. I had coffee and my three friends had mismosas. I ordered the clam chowder and my friends got salads which was really good and another ordered a club sandwich. Overall, we had a pleasant experience, the food was good and we didn't wait long at all.

I was at a business lunch at the upstairs dining room. Very comfortable, nice view from a window table. My food was excellent, grilled sea bass and vegetables. Fish was fresh and perfectly cooked, moist and flaky with no hint of fishiness. The service, however, was pretty bad. We had several long (up to 10 minutes) stretches where out waiter simply disappeared. Coffee and dessert (a pretty good lava cake) took forever. Prices seemed competitive for similar restaurants in the area.

Santa Monica vibes on the beach at this luxe hotel. Grab a seat and a drink at the patio and soak in the sun all afternoon while you people watch. All the seafood was lovely.

Super good food and drink, but the potato chips are the true highlight! Great service and an amazing view of the ocean. Popular, but not packed. 10/10 would come again. (Valet parking, definitely a plus. )

Their bathrobes are too rough. It’s like they’re normal bathrobes but they’re covered in sandpaper. Also, the conditioner that they give you in the shower is cilantro scented. What the hell is that about?!

Great service and amazing location/ view But the rest is eh! Way overpriced. Food is mediocre. 3 of 5 dishes were sent back because they were cold. Fishy taxes were added to the bill. Also to the parking fee… dont think we will return.

Exceptionally classy venue with a close up and uninterrupted view of the beach. Done with your five star meal, or need to step outside to take a call? Find yourself on the beach in about ten paces. This is an excellent location for a private event.

Luxurious for the employees… as well as tbeconservative New England theme in decor. In house spa, food and accessibility to the beach and boardwalk make it a great short stay. Short because it is rather expensive after you add everything up.

I had a perfect unhurried lunch here. There was a good selection of food, my Cobb salad was delicious. Enough craft beers to choose from and my companions enjoyed their wine. The pace of service was perfect, attentive and polite. All in all an excellent lunch.

I used to come here all the time. My girlfriend was working here. She lives back to Europe and this is the first time since a while. Still loving it. Great food and stuff is so helpful and so friendly.

We went for the lobster brunch at the restaurant. The view is absolutely beautiful. Lobster crab cakes and lobster Benedict we're delicious. I left very happy and sufficiently full of lobster.

My friend booked the reception for her daughter's baptism here. I've got to say — it's pretty amazing. Staff is thoughtful and attentive. Food was spot on and interesting. I've no idea what it cost but, on an absolute basis, it was an amazing event.

Where to begin? The first day my family and I (11 people including kids) ate at one of the hotel restaurants. We were literally at our table for an hour before the server took our order. Not great and food was average at best. That night the AC would not cool the room lower than 70-71 degrees when the bedding is very heavy. Second night the AC had gone even more south and the temp would not go below 75-77 degrees. Without a doubt the hotel tried to relieve our discomfort, even sending up a cheap fan and light blanket. But for $1000+ a night, this was unacceptable. I'm sure our experience was isolated and not the norm, but it is what it is. We won't be coming back. Damn, we're here another 2 nights.

It's a hotel that's has a restaurant named One Pico. It has a ritzy feel. It's clean, open and fresh. Went for a birthday lunch. They have Beautiful shutter windows that look out toward the beach and catch the breeze. Celebrities known to be spotted here as well from time to time.

Location unsurpassed. Happy hour on deck by Ocean 4 to 7. Very social. Staff is top notch. Shutters property is actually ON the beach with attractive living spaces. Free bike usage for adults and kids. This complex is good enough for the super rich and famous and those who like to be around them. Everyone is treated the same. Excellent choice for Santa Monica. Love this place.

Very nice place and excellent location in front of the beach and people very environment, food and drink very well the reason why not give 5 stars is because LIS employees are not so friendly.

Make sure your appearance is high class and Caucasian to walk into the restaurant. I'm white but clearly was too casual and 'different' to be served. I wasn't greeted with a smile or acknowledged. But saw others walk in after me get treated as such. Last time I checked money is money and don't see why anyone should be treated differently based off how casual they are dressed. I asked for a seat outside for 1, I was told there weren't any. I wasn't even offered a seat to sit inside so I left. The woman on the phone I put a formal complaint with had the same attitude as the guy at the restaurant. Extremely disappointed that I couldn't enjoy a nice lunch on the beach after I worked out. All I was wearing was a hat tank top and shorts. Guess I had too many wrinkles.

I've only been to shutters on the beach once to deliver packages to a customer. The front doorman wouldn't let me thru the front door. I was told to go to the loading dock and to meet the customer there. When I went to the loading dock, the loading dock manager told me to go thru the front door. They all didn't know what to do for the customers packages. And none of us could reach the customer, since the customer left the hotels number and not his personal number and the customer wasn't in their room. Then finally, the hotel personel loading dock manager took the packages into the security office till they can reach the customer for pick up. Tho it was not allowed. They allowed it under the circumstances of timely delivery.

Only visited the conference room. It was very nice with complementary coffee, juice, pasties and fruit. It was very nice and tasty. Event setting was typical fashion and the speakers were easily understood through the sound system. Parking was great, especially within walking distance. There were plenty of metered parking within minutes and it was economical $2 per hour. Best part is that it's right on the beach so the views are awesome. Look forward to saying possibly my next visit.

What a great location for a hotel, the rooms are bright and simply designed in sea shore themes. The hotel is right on the beach and close to all the fine restaurants and bars in the area. The staffs are friendly and professional, seems like they only hires young and good looking people in the front side of the hotel. Unfortunately as our corporation keep cutting our travel expenses we are getting the smaller and less ideal located rooms Within Santa Monica this is definitely the hotel to stay if your budget can afford it.

Thai chicken salad was amazing and wait service was impeccable. Definitely a nice relaxing place for a calm lunch.

Valet parking is a mess on weekends. Food was dull. Service decent but haphazard. Great on slow days.

Absolutely amazing stay. The attention to every detail by everyone at the hotel was great. They were able to accommodate emergency venue changes due to weather with ease. Every customer is treated as a VIP and the views are amazing.

Went to Shutters to meet a work contact. Say in the lobby/lounge which has a living room feel to it — — if your living room was filled with 500 people. Nice ambiance, but day too loud and crowded. Also the server took my CC when I ordered coffee and disappeared with the card for like 20 minutes. I'll have to watch my account activity for a while to make sure I wasn't ripped off.

Atmosphere is great. Seated quickly without wait, but it was a Wednesday. Salad was awesome and I don't even like garden salads. The chicken was superb. Although a small portion so don't expect to get a full meal unless you get an appetizer.

Obviously a great location. Everything is just very expensive. Ideal place to spoil yourself on works dime prerably.

I went to the bar under the veranda. If you want to have a drink only go under the veranda, otherwise it is a little posh and you'll be surrounded by old people ;-) But the cocktails are good and their carrot cake is generous!

This place is pretty awesome I love the decor, deep dark red walls, eerie painting illuminated by lamps from below, drinks are standard price. Great cheap whiskey shot/beer combos or tequila/beer. Great dive bar and seating in the back for a more intimate setting. I had a great time here.

Definitely a pretty classy place, very fancy in a lot of regards. But don't feel like you can't stop by and have a drink if you're in your casual clothes. If you're lucky enough to get a spot on the back patio, you have an amazing view of the beach. They have some cool cocktails and overall its worth a stop and hang one afternoon.

The location is fabulous, but the service is poor. My work friends and I go every year in fall. I loved my first experience, but my happiness with the service drops rapidly. When I call to make a reservation, they put me on hold for 20+ minutes. On my last stay, the staff decided to really clean the last night I was there, moving my stuff in all different places. They took one of my gift cards (I verified it was used in CA that week). When I called security, they didn't call back, made excuses, and did nothing. If you stay here, lock up your things.

Excellent hotel in an excellent location on the beach. Our room was comfortably decorated in Cape Cod style and featured a comfortable tub, shower, and a fully stocked fridge with all sorts of snacks. The nightly cost is high, but a stay at Shutters is ideal for special occasions.

White decadence, located within walking distance on the pier. Also popular with Hollywood A-listers. I'd go with someone you love, otherwise all the romance is a waste. It's exquisite. The comfort and simplicity has it's own distinguished beauty.

The atmosphere in this place is awesome. Great place to take your wife or girlfriend. Get there around 6pm to see the sunset. Food is pretty pricey and not as good as what you would expect considering the quality of restaurant. But the service and deserts were excellent.
