Yes, we stayed 2 nights last week and it was luxurious. The staff was extremely attentive and Frankie mixed us some nice drinks at the bar. Went for an evening swim then sat by the fire. The Frette towels were soft and cozy. We will be returning the next time we're in Santa Monica!

Outstanding check in experience. Love the Front Desk Agent with that Euro Accent. Added to the aura of the locale. Sammie at the restaurant was above exceptional. Highly attentive. He can predict what I need before I even knew I needed it. Outstanding server, bartender, manager… Love Sammie. Then Melody who runs the Front Desk is exceptional. Will return soon.

Just love this hotel — everyone is friendly helpful. Great energy and beautiful rooms. Just a lovely place to land every time we are in LA.

Absolutely fabulous — boutique, fantastic service, rooms brilliant — from the moment I walked in and met Seth and all the friendly staff I was impressed. The hotel has been recently renovated and is perfect right down to my favourite Lavender plants throughout the gardens! I will be back — all time favourite in Los Angeles!

Lovely load back vibe hotel, one of my favourites. A bit expensive, Having said that, rooms are massive, all are suites I think, so not bad value if you are looking for a suite. Free bike hire, small pool, good views from breakfast room/ bar.

What a wonderful property with even more wonderful staff. Everyone at the hotel was beyond friendly and hospitable but Balde and Atyanna went above and beyond their call of duty to ensure my friend and I had everything our hearts desired. A truly memorable experience and I highly recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Santa Monica. Thanks again!

Noise. I was very turned-off by the paper-thin walls, windows and floors, consistently hearing plumbing sounds and neighbors walking and talking in the room above me, traffic all night long, lawn work out in the street was as loud as if the windows were open and started at 8am. Also, this hotel has the “mushy-pillow” problem. On the good side the heated pool seems nice (but closes at 8pm), cleanliness was high, bathrooms were nice, and the in-and-out valet is convenient. Staff was incredibly kind and responsive but nothing they can do about the noise problems. Because some of the rooms are rather large with a “suite” living room in front, this might be a good choice for families with small children. I would not stay here again despite the nicely appointed rooms because it was not restful sleep.

Had a really good time here. Well located on the beach front on ocean drive it has an amazing view of the ocean. The rooms are relatively big with some good facilities. There is a restaurant on site with room service available. A pool and gym also available. The only challenge here is the pricing — a bit steep with lots of hidden costs including various taxes. But this us probably in line with a lot of places in Los Angeles.

I would have expected a separate shower in a junior suite. Otherwise OK. Pity there was no sunny spot by the pool in the afternoons at this time of year as its quite steep walk to the beach. Good breakfast and comfortable bed.

The reception staff is wholly underwhelming. The only charming thing about this place is the location.

They need newer guests bikes. The ones they have are ugly and rusty almost as if they found them. Pls get new bikes an lower the rates other then that great hotel and great landscape maintenance!,

Our room was huge. Good service. Tasty breakfast but quite pricy.

Fantastic location with a great staff and spotless rooms. We took a short walk down to the shops then right over to the beach. My first time staying here and it won't be my last!

The courtyard was beautiful and the staff was very helpful and thoughtful. The rooms are gorgeous and have fantastic views of the beach.

Great location on Santa Monica beach, walkable in both directions to Montana St and the pier. Very spacious, well appointed and spotlessly clean. Had a wonderful morning swim with our baby and then breakfast by the pool. Restaurant staff were brilliant.

We loved our suite — it felt like and apartment. So much better than the traditional hotel! They did an excellent job with the doctor both in the room and outside. The pool area was a great view and the temperature of the pool water was perfect.

The staff was amazing. The rooms were spacious. The only reason I wouldn't go back is the music they play in the pool area is old. They need to have a current playlist. If they stepped it up I'd go back there.

Nice room and set of amenities, though not over the top.

This was the most fabulous day a great start to my Mother's Day weekend the massage in the room was extraordinary. The Service excellent five stars all the way around. We will be back.

Great place, very beautiful inside and out and a great location. Staff was super friendly and easy to talk to. Room was small but very well done and we didn't need much as we were there only one night and were out most of the day anyway. Nice fitness center. Expensive but it is what it is in Santa Monica. Nice little bar area as well. Love to sit by the ground floor window and people watch.

Stayed here for work a couple of times. Super relaxed vibe away from the bigger hotels down the road. Great to take one of the bikes for ride down to Venice along the beach. Feels like Melrose Place. Nice pool and great good from memory.

Very nice hotel. Just across the road from the beach, with big rooms and all round good service. Breakfast was nice. Also has a pool. Free Wi-Fi.

Quite simply one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Great service, location, facilities. The only niggle was the noisy water pipes next to our room but it did not ruin our stay.

One of the most beautiful hotels hands down I have stayed in. Came for business and everything was perfection. Its rare I say these words by the way but it is refreshing when a hotel gives you everything you expect and more. The gym was clean, new equipment with a great view. Room service was timely. Decor was spectacular. Restaurant downstairs is a hot spot. And its small enough that it doesn't get crowded in lobby like some others in the area. Very classy spot.

I loved this hotel! The staff was beyond accommodating. The hotel itself was very quaint, with the feeling you were staying in a friends home versus another hotel room. The pool area is nice and quiet and simply a lovely place to spend your day. The location could not be better with the amazing views of the ocean! And to top it off, free surfing and yoga lessons :) 5 star rating all the way! One of my favorite hotels I have ever stayed. I would highly recommend! Julie Nye.

In the perfect pocket, just above the noise, just before Malibu. Serene, comforting, welcoming. Rooms are ENORMOUS and, while not exactly my aesthetic, they are profoundly relaxing. Maybe the best place to stay in LA.

An extremely restful oasis, tucked into the Santa Monica cliffs overlooking the Pacific.

I love this hotel except for the problems I have had with service. I frequently stay here and am perplexed at some of the problems I would not expect from a smaller Santa Monica hotel. The first time I came here with my wife we pulled up in our car and had it parked. We were then left on the sidewalk with no help with our baggage — it was late, but when we entered the doorman was sitting in the lobby just chatting with the check-in attendant. After check-in he did not help us take our luggage to our room. This seemed strange and like we were not good enough to stay here? The second time I came, Zach, from the restaurant downstairs berated me for not calling to come have my dinner tray picked up and told me I needed to do it from now on. The next morning I got a wake up call without ordering one. Coincidence? The third time I stayed I again ordered room service I got the lecture, from Zach about the tray, and he left off part of the order. When I called back to receive it, he came and was very insincere in his apology as to his mistake. Also they gave me a free drink ticket for the bar for being a returning customer. I did not use it the first night and when I returned the next day from work they had removed it during cleaning — I guess I did not use it fast enough. I travel all over for my job and I have never written a review in my life but come on. Your job is customer service. That is it. It is not Lord of the castle where everyone is here to stay under your code.

Really big rooms with lots of space. The hotel is centered on the pool courtyard. If you want ocean view, specify that when you reserve. Sparkling wine upon arrival is a nice touch. Free use of beach cruisers was also a bonus particularly because the hotel is not right in the middle of it all. We walked to and from the main walking area and it took us about 10 minutes so the bikes were nice. Poolside Lemonade (cocktail) was memorable with its frozen watermelon ice cubes.

I travel to LA about a half dozen or so times a year but usually stay in Beverly Hills’ or downtown so I decided to try staying in Santa Monica for a change of scenery. Oceana came recommended by my agent and even though it was much more expensive than staying at one of my old haunts I loved the stay. If you have never been there before you wouldn’t necessarily know its hotel and it’s surrounded by small apartment buildings and blends in – the only giveaway is the valet stand outside. Inside is lovely, although they were finishing up a renovation when I was there. The girls at the front desk were very friendly and efficient. Rooms: big with lots of color. Well decorated and large rooms make you feel at home. Bathroom: clean and modern. The hotel itself (or what wasn’t under construction) is gorgeous. Really different but the small size also makes gives it a private touch. Very quiet area and safe. Staff is excellent all around. Only thing that bothered me was the weather. It rained almost the entire time I was there – not the hotels fault obviously – but sucked that I couldn’t enjoy the location as much. I would recommend this hotel highly if you can afford paying a little extra to stay here.

My husband kids and I stayed here from the 20th through the 22nd while in LA and everything was wonderful from the service to the accommodations. It’s a small hotel right on Ocean Avenue so it’s overlooking the beach and coastline. Really gorgeous spot and it’s not a long walk over to the local attractions: promenade, downtown Santa Monica, beach. It’s a little further if you want to go to the pier or Venice beach but still easily reached on a bike or a 15-20 minute walk. Service was excellent the entire time. When we arrived the management left champagne for us and cookies for the kids – very sweet – along with a handwritten welcome note. Valet stand employees including Brice were very helpful and sweet with our kids when we were getting outfitted with the hotels complimentary bikes. I love the decor in the rooms. Bright, cheery and very appropriate for the beachside location. Also loved the toiletries and wonderful towels. Luxury all the way but still kid friendly hotel. Can’t wait to come back on our next trip.

Came here with the kids, wife and in laws for a family event happing in Santa Monica. The girl, who made our reservation, Lea, was so helpful and got us a kitchen suite with a pullout to accommodate for our week long stay with two kids fewer than 10. Very thoughtful and it ended up being the right call. It’s a very good hotel for families because of the big rooms and small facility and safe area meant it was easy to keep track of them and we felt very secure. There is a courtyard and pool right in the middle of the hotel and a small lounge restaurant as well. While we were there they had ongoing renovations going on so it was a little less than perfect but it didn’t end up affecting us much except for the lack of a pool which was a disappointment for the kids. Can’t say I felt the same but it would be nice not to have to look at a construction site going on. The great customer service continued beyond the booking through the entire vacation. One of the servers suggested we go walk down Montana St. For a more upscale shopping and less crowds than the promenade on third street. Good tip. Also suggested a good sushi restaurant about 15 minutes down the street for our night without the kids. Great tip. Very personalized and service-oriented.

My husband and I stayed at the Oceana during a trip to LA before the New Year. It’s a boutique hotel with an intimate courtyard layout and only a few rooms but it’s definitely a luxury hotel both in quality and price. When we checked in the front desk girl was very pleasant and friendly. She later gave us a good restaurant tip for a small seafood place close to the Santa Monica pier that had the best fish tacos. The room we stayed in was decorated nicely and extremely comfortable in every aspect. One thing I will point out is that the wireless internet was a little slow and went out for a few minutes one day. It was a little annoying but my husband called down to the desk to let them know and they got it back up. Seems like such a nice hotel should be able to fix this. Besides that I have very little negative feedback for the Oceana. I was also under the impression that the hotel was very close to “downtown”, when in fact it’s more like a quarter mile away. Initially I thought this was a big downside. When we did go over to the downtown area and walked down 3rd street promenade and after going to the pier, I now realize the location is actually perfect. I personally wouldn’t have liked having to hear the noise from all the performers, musicians, and general traffic over there. We had a top floor room facing the water and saw some really spectacular sunsets out from the room every evening. Breakfast was delicious. Service is very good.

What a find! Great hotel just opposite the cliffs of the incline and Pacific Ocean and about a 10 minute walk to downtown Santa Monica. From the outside it looks more like a fancy apartment complex and sits among others just where the commercial area ends. At first I thought it was far away from the town but in fact its close enough to walk or bike (they let guests take them for free to cruise around) but you don’t have to listen to it when you are trying to rest. That said, they are in the middle of construction on the hotel so we tried to make sure we were out of the hotel during the day when it was going on and noisy. Stephanie at guest services was extremely helpful with reservations and left the sweetest note waiting for us in our room thanking us for staying there despite the construction and letting us know we could go to her with any issues. That was just one example of the brilliant service at the Oceana. All of the staff presented honest friendliness and were very helpful. Top notch across the board. Special touch was when the valet brought my cell phone that I had left charging in the car before I even asked. If after the renovations are complete the hotel looks as beautiful as the service is exceptional, this may just be my new favorite hotel.

This was my first time staying at this hotel and I was there for just a one night stay. The hotel was under construction at the time, something I wasn’t told when I booked the room, however it ended up being no big deal. The pool area was a little disconcerting as it was the most unfinished area but the service more than makes up for the ongoing renovations. Caroline at the desk was very welcoming and friendly, the server at breakfast was also wonderful. The breakfast at the hotel is really good, 100 percent worth it. It’s a small buffet but everything is fresh with very high food quality. Really good scrambled eggs and fresh pressed juice. The rooms are amazing! They are big and well designed. It’s pretty much the size of a one bedroom apartment with a sitting area and large bathroom. Beds are comfy and other than the construction going on the rest of the hotel was very clean. No issues other than the work, so I would definitely stay here again.
