Oh Pavillions… The place is dirty, shower curtains moldy, the sheets feel like they have already been slept in, as in not washed or changed, moist and warm. There are bugs in the bed and cockroaches in the room, and it's expensive on top of it all, they charge over a hundred dollars a night! The older man is very friendly, the other guy is a very strange character. Obviously not recommended but… This is where me and my would be wife spent close to a week, exploring santa monica and going for romantic walks on the beach, so this place is part of a memory I hold dear in my heart. If you're not in love, don't go there. Actually, don't go there if you can help it.

Disgusting. Bed bugs and blood and stained sheets and pillow cases. Absolutely horrible. Charged my credit card $260. Without authorization. We left after seeing a bed full of bugs anf drawer full of them. Have pictures and contacting the health department.

There motel sucks its stinky, dirty, ugly and much more. I also doubt that they waah there sheets and comforter.

This place truly sucks try to avoid it. It's not clean it's basically a one man operation.

The service alone was great and the food is finger licking good.

He keeps the place nasty. One Customer leaves and often times he doesn't change the streets. The rooms are run down with mold, needs to remodeled BADLY. Its really unfit for any one to stay. His staff are drug addicts good guys but nickel and dime cheap. Sid lies so much, the police are sick of him. This man has no since of humanity or compassion. A real ish-jew. Its a wonder L&I haven't shut this place down for good. There are many other places to go within the area. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Somebody is going to put a bullet in this man head and be done with it…

If I could give a negative rating. I would…! where do I begin sexual harassment, black mold, bed bugs, over priced, owner is a smuck to put it nicely… etc etc etc… Stay far far far away unless glutten for punishments is your m. O.

Yucky place. It's a dump. Every once in a while in late evening early morning when looking out the window viewing a quite neighborhood at that hoir, there is a swat team on top of the building's roof with rifles, No joke! Swat team surrounds the neighboring buildings as well, you see them on the roof tops with rifles. Police cars, dogs and cars block the intersection of Ocean Park bl. And Cloverfield scarey thing about it it's always very late in the after hour. And the only detection of these unfortunate events is that the emergency lights are on from so many police cars. Relatives stayed there one night and never will again. Dingy colored bed linens, no towels, dirty shower and floors. And for the price!? Only and only if, you are truly desperate than get a room. You've been warned!

This is my favorite hotel in all of California every time I come here I stay here first it has a very historical feeling to it it is not dirty like people say on these reviews it's the sweetest place ever it's just wonderful I love this place give it a chance you'll agree.

Very nice staff and owner but woke up with bed bug bites everywhere. They said their was nothing they can do. I recommend on NOT staying in this motel.

It had a soft bed. But I wouldn't stay there again. The electric wall socket didn't work.

I'm going to put it very plain and simple. One is better off sleeping in their car and showering at the local gym.

Worst motel ever, they booked me for the wrong dates and when I spoke to them about it I was given nothing but attitude and rudeness. For the 6 hours I managed to stay in the room for my 100$ purchase I was able to enjoy a filthy shower with hair all over the floor, mold and dirty linens. You would be better off sleeping on the street, don't give these guys a single cent.

Very clean, family owned, warm friendly feeling. Very close to the beach and the promenade hostel feeling where you can meet interesting people from different parts of the globe. Highly recommended.

It doesn't need no stars at all this place is so horrible it has big rochaes and rats and the place is discussing no room service owner is very rude to the customers.

The owner overbooked so that when I arrived, there were no rooms. He then proceeded to offer me a room in his HOUSE. Hotwire, who I booked through, accepted his lie that I didn't check in. Thief. And he did it during Rosh Hashanah. Never will I use HOTWIRE or Pavilions Santa Monica again.

Warning, warning, warning. Booked in here 6 years ago, can't believe it is still operating. We stayed for 5 minutes then checked out, the drugged out fellow on reception was nice enough, even though he was unable to give us a refund…

What can I say? Its in beautiful city… better weather n dog friendly… not the nicest but location is perfect. They are definitly in need of improvement… parking is great and not far from beach or mall…

All I needed was a place to sleep and keep my belongings. This place did just that. All the staff was kind and polite. I will definitely recommend and return.

It was a godsend. The staff here was very nice. It may not be 5 stars but I found peace.

This place was absolutely horrible. The lock on the door was broken. The bed sheets were dirty. There was blood on the back of the door. Disgusting! They manager refused to give me a refund when I first got there. I slept in my car instead.

Complete dive, but cheapest place in Santa Monica. Everything is old and worn out. Our room was basically clean and did not smell bad, as with other reviews. The guy who checked us in was a middle aged hippie type who smelled of ganj. He was friendly enough, but the last thing he did was ask us for a $5 key deposit. I paid it. When we checked out two days later, the guy working in the morning looked in his book where key deposits are apparently kept, and surprise… no $5 bill. He declined to return it to me since I had no receipt, and I told him that's ok, I knew it was a goner when I gave it to the thief who apparently works evenings. So… stay here at your own risk… it is conveniently located in a decent area, but get a receipt for anything and everything lest you, too, get screwed.

Considering the high cost of accommodation in Santa Monica one of the few alternatives. Nothing with luxury or coziness, Wi-Fi sometimes goes, climate and TV.

Not even hookers would stay here,, slept with our beach towels covering pillows & used them as blankets. No screens on windows & bars on the window were any easy invite into our room. Gatorade cap held the bed frame in place on the floor, cigarette burns on the walls, someone already crapped in the toilet before us (nice welcoming present), But hey we had the best TV in the whole place, 1978 Sanyo! Then we were asked if we left the remote in the room?! Wtf!

On the surface it seemed pretty sketchy but actually it was totally fine — awesome location — and very friendly. Its one of the few places around that accept dogs, so people stay here cos they can bring their pets. This makes for a nice atmosphere for those who like dogs. For the rest, I didnt come to LA to hang out in a motel I just crashed here so it was 100% fine.

Rooms were filthy with urine sheets — bed bugs and cigarettes on the bed.

Not worth the 96 dollars to stay here. Bed was ok, but was very small.

Yes it sucks n loud n dirty but I got a dog n for this month I shall ruff it… tuff it… … annywaayysss. Soon they gonna shut it… the one star for the dog friendly policy.

Was exausted… had a hot shower… and bed… under a hundred in a town with $200 motel 6… you figure it out. Lol.

This is a long one but something that needs to be said. First off, too expensive for its size. Secondly, I was promised a smoking room over the phone just to get there and have them tell me there is no smoking in any of the rooms. Creepy stains everywhere, dirty towels, tons of bed bugs, smelled faintly of vomit, no toilet paper, clogged shower drain, and we have reason to believe someone was in our room while we were out. If that wasn't all bad enough, a man who works there who is maybe in his late 40s, white, very thin with a high voice was at the service desk, I asked him if he would send someone to clear our drain and he snappily told me I had all day to mention it to the owner (he never sent anyone) he argued back and forth with me because I was trying to tell him that the state of the hotel was unsanitary, and he needed to send someone to come fix the overflowing shower, which he didn't seem to care about one bit. Back in my room I had the window open and heard a shocking interaction between him and a guest: the guest asked if he worked there and he yells back "what do you think. " Honestly the man who owns the place is a very nice person so I feel somewhat guilty writing this, but I firmly believe anyone staying in Santa Monica should just throw down an extra $50 to stay somewhere decent.

THIS PLACE IS SO DISGUSTING AND UNSANITARY! The bed sheets were dirty and stained. The restroom was not clean at all. The toilet was dirty and smelled so bad. The shower was dirty as well and has mold. There is so many roches everywhere in the room. When I tried to cancel and get my money back owner was so rude and said that is what I had paid for.

The rooms were clean without any bugs. The air conditioning worked great. One feels safe in a room even at night. The owner is a kind and understanding gentleman who goes out of his way to help the guest. He makes one welcome at his place. For the price and even above it one would not find the better accomodation in Santa Monica.

This "motel" is worse than its reputation — — — — — 'Psycho's' Bates motel has been compared — but this house of horror makes the Bates look like the Beverly Hilton. — — — — — — the only resemblance was the guy on the desk who looked like Norman Bates — took my cash and gave a blank receipt which said 'transaction failed' — — — so you can guess where my cash ended up. Everything other guests have written is true — — — bedbugs, cockroaches — — — a bathroom from hell — — with no toilet flush and a notice to put used toilet paper in the bucket next to it, — — — — Drunken 'guests' kept us awake as they sit at tables outside your room, — — — — — — If you don't want to catch a serious disease-STAY AWAY!

No stars! This place is disgusting. First room that was shown had hair all over the bed like someone had slept in it and sheets were not cleaned or changed. Front desk clerk stated he had no key for that room and if I wanted in and just to let him know and he will let me in. I told him I wasn't comfortable with leaving my stuff there, he then said to just take all my stuff with me every time I leave. So when I tried to cancel he said I'd get charged for the room. Then quickly said he would show me a better room. Upon entering I checked the bed and the sheets were stained with blood. I looked at him and all he could say was it was such a shame. I don't recommend this place to anyone.

Stayed here 3 weeks, since I got a new job in the area. It is not a luxury place, but the beds are comfy. I did not find any bug bed problems as the other reviews said, I stayed in 3 different rooms.

This motel is in excellent location for the beach, shops and freeway. It was perfect for our 4 day stay. They are located in a historical part of Santa Monica & are bound by city laws with they can do as far as remodeling. Our room was SPOTLESS! walked around in white socks and had no sign of any dirt. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was very accommodating to any and all needs that my husband I had. We were on our trip for a little vacation so we did not go to hang out in a room we went to see the sites. All we needed was a great place to sleep & shower for each days adventure. I see all the negative reviews and am led to believe the negative ones come from those with a champagne taste looking for a room on a dollar store budget. Yes the room is not the Hilton. We found it much more quaint and personal. Had the opportunity to meet the owner and his wife. What amazing people they are! Yes we will be back and yes we will stay here again.

Onestar is way to high, PEOPLE LISTEN WE STAYED THERE AUGUST 15, 2015… Believe me stay away. This is the most disgusting place I have ever seen or stayed at. Let me explain, the bathroom shower had black mold on walls and ceiling. The toilet had urine on it from people before on seat. The cabinet that held sink up was falling over. The bathroom door hinges were pulled out on bottom and top hinge had one screw holding door from falling, the sheets had recent spots and stains and crumbs from people before. The comforter had crust food on it, not to mention the TV is from 1990's and the remote they give you does not work. Then the closet if you crazy enough to stay in room 8 has a white blanket that is all stained and has been there for god knows how long. Then wow fancy curtains all all the room windows are sold old the backing is rotting off and you can see right through. There was no other hotels/motels open so we slept'd in our clothes on our 5 beach towels on top of bed, oh yes the bed. Sleep on edge and you roll right to middle, great mattress. The most disgusting dive and that is being nice, save your money and sleep in your car if you have to if your only option, we met customers in parking lot and they all were disgusted.

Absolutely terrible after checking in getting to my room discovered and I'm believably overwhelming sewage smell so unbearable I had to leave upon checkout the gentleman at the window replied to my disk comfort of smell I don't blame you unacceptable unbelievable disgusting.

Bed bugs! We are traumatized. It started horribly when at check in when motel manager asked for a 10 dollar cash deposit for the room key. I had a 20 dollar bill that was snatched out of my hand and put in a book. I asked for the change due to me. We then were given many excuses as to why we weren’t going to get the change. My daughter (23) looking puzzled as to why this man is behaving this way was told by the manager that she needed Botox. It was completely offensive and he said it to her 2 more times while making fun of us for wanting our change for the 10 dollar deposit. The manager did say we were getting the best room. If that was correct, I would hate to see the worst. We were handed on key to the room, a TV remote and a piece of paper that showed a Wifi connection with out a password. We entered the room and looked around. It was run down to say the least but I could deal with that. I wasn’t expecting a 4 star hotel. I pealed back the dirty comforter to clean sheets. The mattress had blood on it. I could go on and on. We figured we could buck up and deal with it for 2 nights stay during our busy weekend as long as week didn’t have to deal with the manager. I don’t think he even realized how rude he was. We quickly left and spent the rest of the day and evening doing tourist activities. Late in the evening the nightmare started. I woke up at 3am. I used the toilet, that I cleaned myself and went back to bed.

Worst place ever there were drug addicts outside there was dirty sheets fleas everywhere toilet barely worked the sinks were dirty the locks were busted take my advice and don't ever go there.

Do not stay at this hole. Its a dossers hostel not motel. The tenants. Yes tenants all have a drink problem and sit outside drinking and smoking late into the night without a care for other customers. Awful.

Room was cheap, beds were comfortable, bathroom very tiny, door didn't lock, good hotel when your super tired and just need a quick place to lay your head down for the night! Staff friendly.

Dark, dingy, crowded. This market is a bummer. And the quality of items isn't great either. I can understand a market in a small space, but the way this is laid out only allows one cart down an aisle at any time.

One of the most repulsive motels I've ever stayed at. It ranks along side places in Mexico that I payed $10 a night for. Honestly, the manager is indifferent and didn't seem to care about my concerns of mold, no hot water, dirty sheets and pillows. There was remnant black hair on the sheets and the comforter was filthy!. For $85 per night, I can accept outdated but not dirty. Disgusting night. Would have been miles ahead sleeping in my car for the night.

For the price I'd have to say I guess I couldnt expect anything more but they could have kept this place a little more clean when I stayed here I killed a small roach but after that I didn't see anymore.

Flea Alert! I stayed here one night and that was the worst nightmare in my life. I was bitten 100 times by fleas and was able to sleep 10 min whole night. The worst thing was knowing that you are laying down on hundreds of fleas and had no choice! Stay away it took me a week to clean myself up from fleas.
