Joni at front desk, Omar in restaurant and ALL the valets provided excellent, friendly service. The bar staff were dull, never cracked a smile or attempted conversation even though very few patrons. Website said reno's were done, but hot tub was surrounded by girders and paint. Then it was "officially " closed for the rest of our stay. Workman appeared unannounced outside the window one morning, lucky we were dressed. However, location was good and bed was comfy. Valet was exceptional and worth the cost. Avoid the bar… lots of places close by with better staff and food.

Firstly I would like to thank Tori, Joni & David on the front desk for taking matters into their own hands seen as the Manager of the hotel wasn’t bothered about the so called high standards of this 4 star hotel or the guests staying here. It took 3 days to remove what can only be described as dog faeces on our landing floor, we asked for the mess to be tested to prove exactly what it was sitting on the floor, instead we were made out to be liars by the Manager who threatened our family with court due to the California Law, I would like to point out this was only removed because we told them it was there, the vacuum was sat next to the mess each day. Regardless of the other issues we had whilst we were there, the rudeness we experienced from the Manager who is meant to set an example to his staff clearly needs to go on course himself.

The Hilton Checkers worked out great for our stay. There wasn't anything too special about the hotel for it being a boutique style hotel. The bed was comfortable even though the pillows were a little more firm than we prefer. The hotel was conveniently situated for our time out at Pershing Square and Grand Central Market. It's also only about a 10 minute drive up to Silver Lake where we hit some great restaurants and bars.

Went there for an after after party for a wedding. Hotel staff was amazing and accommodating. If you're in the area definitely swing by and check out the bar and penthouse.

This place was nice I like the rooftop to escape they have a hot tub up there. I wouldn't say it's sanitary but everything is pretty clean. I will stay here again because it was more reasonable than the other hotels that were newer fancier high-rises. I thought the beds here we're pretty comfortable. The restaurant downstairs is really overpriced but they have nice waiting area near the lobby. And on the side of the restaurant and the bar is a secret side area where you can hang out by yourself.

Old hotel trying to be an upscale art deco palace from the past. It's old charm can be annoying at times (2-faucet showers and no bathroom exhaust fan) however. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Personally, I don't like doormen, but that's just me. I'm perfectly capable of opening my own doors. I guess people like its location. In the end, it's not worth the price.

This hotel is absolutely incredible! My experience was amazing from valet all the way to check out. The decor is lush. The hotel staff members were extremely helpful and caring. They even go as far as sending you a text message to follow-up with your experience. The room was spacious and flawless. I was impressed and extremely satisfied. One of the best stays I've ever had within the Hilton Hotel group.

Great hotel but I was a little surprised that they do not offer a complimentary continental breakfast. I have stayed in other great hotels that were not as expensive that offered the free continental breakfast. Also, no parking is available. You have no choice but to pay for a valet to park your car. Great employees and a great experience overall. I would recommend this hotel.

The location is great. The people are so nice and accommodating. The rooms are comfortable. The bed is a bit firm but I prefer that. The TV does not have a channel guide but Showtime is included. Overall, would definitely recommend. Can't beat the price.

I had a great experience — nice, well kept hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful as well. Doormen are very friendly and welcoming. The bed was also very comfortable. I wish the hotel had a pool, but thats alright. I would definitely stay at this location again.

I loved the Hotel! It was very nice and warm as in welcoming on the inside. The Doorpeople were always friendly and always opened the door for you (a welcomed surprise). Nice spacious room (double queen size). I wish the room had more lighting options besides two lamps and a very dim hall light but the windows made up for that except at night. It was a boutique hotel so some things are not standard like having a shuttle to and from the airport (which would've made life so much easier during my stay). Nothing too drastic to complain about.

Checkers has a great location near the library facing a street that, at least during the weekend, was not too busy. Checkers has old world charm without being too big or pretentious. We really liked the large bathroom, and the beds and pillows are very comfortable. (You might need to set an alarm to keep from oversleeping! ) There's a small jacuzzi on the roof with great views. I'd strongly recommend this place for anyone that needs a little more quiet than a big hotel.

I had to find a hotel last minute and this one was affordable but even better, I got such a great deal for the money I paid. It had a view, even though it's an older hotel so it wasn't as tall as others, it was a great rooftop. Room was clean and comfortable. The staff was super nice also and friendly. I've experienced a crappy staff at the previous hotel the night before at a more expensive location. This one was just great!

Very nice hotel. The breakfast food is ok… nothing to write home about. Other than that, I enjoyed staying here. The hospitality and customer service is excellent! Love those bell men!

This little boutique spot across from the famous Biltmore was within walking distance to several good restaurants, the Last Bookstore full of treasures and the Belasco Theater as well. Pricing is well within reason and the rooftop view at night is stunning. Highly recommended!

For the price and the "name" of the hotel I find it not so good. The normal room is not attractive to the view, just like any cheap motel or hotel and the bathroom has no ventilation, poorly located toilet paper (away from the toilet), we were 4 people registered and had to ask for more towels, plus without enough products from Personal toilet in the bathroom. The valet parking is $50 + tip… ($$$)

An amazing hotel with amazing staff. Great location puts you in the middle of everything. From the hotel, you can easily head to El Pueblo, Little Tokyo, Chinatown, South Park and public transport places. The interior looks grand, and the rooms are clean. Keep up the good work, Hilton!

Stayed there Sunday-Wednesday spring break week. Our room was big and nice view. Could of done a better job cleaning though. Found a gum pack under the night stand and spider web by the vents. Our front desk experience was not all that great. I had forgotten my room key inside the room, so when we went to the front desk both agents were on the phone. When we finally got our key I tried calling the front desk because my TV was not working and they took forever to answer. When they finally did I got put on hold. Ridiculous! We went out for dinner and I tried calling the hotel to see if they can connect me to our other party room and AGAIN the phone kept ringing. Nobody answered. So I just hung up. Need to do a better job with their customer service. I’ve stayed in Hilton’s hotel before and this one was the worst by far. Sorry.

Good service. If you want to avoid valet parking fee (~$47), there are few options (I visited this place March 2018. ) SP+ garage right next to this hotel has a special weekend rate about $16 overnight. Garage at 530 S Olive St, Los Angeles, CA 90013 (3-5min walking) charges $18 for overnight.

This place is absolutely wonderful! The kids love, the adults love it. It is spectacular. The service is great, the location is prime and the rooms are hilarious. Each floor has it's own theme and the corner rooms on each floor have a theme. Like… King Kong, Ghostbuster, Spice Girls. It's awesome. The decor rocks. Once you stay here, you won't stay anywhere else.

Got in after a long flight and were let into our room early, which was a huge bonus! Location was fantastic. Service very professional and friendly. We used the spa once, was small but nice that it was outside. Room was large and clean. Only two downsides 1. The bed was uncomfortable, it dipped toward the middle and I would wake up tilted into the middle of the bed with a number body part (arm, leg) depending on what was under my body. 2. The shower was super tall and not adjustable, but the shower cap helped fix that issue overall very happy and would come back.

1. The bed sizes are not what is advertised. 2. We were told we would have a pullout couch with our bed, and when we arrived were then told such things did not exist in this hotel. So, good thing the floor was comfortable… 3. Having to deal with the crazy fight next door going all night despite the front desk being called didn’t exactly make this seem like a classy hotel. … As Hilton honors members we're used to a little more class from a hotel. If we had known that the hotel staff was just going to lie to us on the phone when booking, we would have stayed somewhere else.

Really like this hotel and where it was situated. Great views on the top deck and the jacuzzi was a pleasure during night time. Not far from the metro being just a couple blocks away. Good service also. Great breakfast.

Good hotel, the normal attention, the bed will lack firmness for my taste and the shower VERY poor, low pressure and very difficult to overshoot in the temperature of the same.

The hotel and the rooms are nice, but the front desk staff bring down the rating a lot. Never smiling, not very friendly. Not very helpful or knowledgeable. Doormen and security are very nice though. Not so great food options and restaurant doesn’t open for dinner until 530. I’ve stayed twice thinking first time I’ll give them a pass. But this time they couldn’t locate my car then couldn’t locate my keys. Was late for work. They got me a ride to and from where I needed to go and did not charge me for parking but I won’t be staying at this location again because the “face” of this hotel (front desk staff) need a whole makeover.

The location for the hotel in downtown LA is good and near the Metro station with various places which offer parking for the Car. The service in the Hotel is average. They don't provide complimentary water in the room and you will have to order the water. As complimentary Tea packets, you will get only one tea packet and 4 coffee packets. Anything above that will be for an additional charge. In short you pay for ur room in reservation only and anything beyond will Come for an additional price. The Hotel is Ok for a overnight stay, For stay beyond one night is not recommended.

This was a nice, clean, charming hotel in the heart of downtown LA. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooftop pool area has great views of downtown and is a relaxing place to spend some time just relaxing. Like most downtown hotels, the valet parking is expensive. There is a garage next door, but the cost is not all that much less than the valet. Make sure that you factor in the cost of parking when you are considering this hotel. If I had to stay in downtown LA again, I would definitely put this place on my shortlist of considerations.

The only thing that REALLY pissed me off, is that valet parking is $45 a night. They don’t post the price anywhere and they didn’t tell us at Check-in, I actually remembered to ask while we were heading to our room and quickly asked the front desk assistant. Beware. You can park at Pershing Square which is a block away for $16. Rooms are tiny, probably the smallest room I’ve stayed in. It has a big flat screen TV, and a fairly comfortable bed. Also has a small fridge, in case you bring some drinks back to the hotel. Some rooms face another building and they have absolutely no natural light, it’s very dark in the middle of the day. The gym is great! Pretty well equipped and maintained, while the rooftop jacuzzi is tiny. There’s not much to do in this hotel other than sleep or have a beer downstairs. Overall I was expecting so much more out of this hotel… I’m glad I paid a special price or I would’ve felt really bad if I had paid full price.

I love the Hilton Checkers. Great location, friendly staff, fabulous rooms. For being in the middle of a very loud part of the city, the rooms almost feel soundproof. They have a restaurant and bar on the property, and there are many other options nearby if you want something different. Also — just saying — between the quiet rooms, comfy beds, and prompt room service, if you happen to be hungover, this is the ideal place to recover. 5 stars.

Lucky enough to stay the night here after going out in the city. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. I love all the marble in the bathrooms at this hotel. You really feel like you are somewhere spice.

Initially, I was disappointed my reservation was changed and I did not get the 2 beds I asked for. However, the staff was extremely helpful in working with me and I was given concessions which more than made up for the lack of beds the first night.

The downtown location is central to a lot of Los Angeles destinations and makes things fairly accessible. The rooms are clean, comfortable and the views are nice if you are high enough. The staff are helpful and friendly. The bar area is nice and the top floor offers grand views of downtown Los Angeles.

Excellent location to go to the Staples Center, the hotel is a little noisy compared to other Hilton. I booked a standard room but got a room with two windows that seems a little larger than a standard. Overall, a great experience.

Conviently located to all major points of interest in Downtown Los Angeles. Rooms are spacious and the check-in is a breeze if you pick your room and upgrades in advance with the HHonors app.

Very friendly staff quickly checked me in to a room on the tenth floor. The room was quite nice, with plenty of space and a comfortable bed. The bar on premise served a few decent beers on tap and had really tasty food as well.

I stayed here for work for the night and had the phone ring and wake me up 3 times throughout the night. Near the airport but they charge for Internet and don't self-park, they claim no ownership of the parking garage under their building and let their customers get shafted, claiming "I am sorry sir but we have no ownership in the parking structure. "

One of my friends came to stay here and the people in customer service were so rude, they had some type of attitude. When she went into her room it was so dirty. She hated it. Even the food was disgusting. Nasty food shouldn't be worth 20 dollars. Worst hotel.

Always wanted to try Checkers … was very underwhelmed… Front desk staff were very sterile … no warm happy feelings there. Room was just ok, had much better accommodations at other Hilton's and actually better at Hampton Inn properties. Room view overlooked air conditioning units on the next building and had no esthetic value … The hotel was within walking distance the restaurant we wanted to visit, the neighborhood was very sketchy for the two blocks we walked for dinner … (Not recommended walking after dark in that area)
Breakfast was served in the on site restaurant, consisting of a small plate of fruit and a choice of toast, coffee included in the room charge. The waiter was ok except he placed a receipt folder on the table and informs us " You May Place Your Tip In Here"
Like he was worried he would not be left anything … The only person who was actually kind and smiling was the woman at check out … very nice person … Lastly the parking of $48.43 was insulting for the location. Double tree 3 blocks away was half that rate for valet.
Checkers may be a cute boutique hotel but not worth the the money. Double Tree by Hilton just blocks away equally priced was a much better value with a totally better feel and really had atmosphere missing at Checkers …

Overall experience was great! However coming from a different location, and experience staying at hotels, was disappointed there was no fridge and the expected payment for Wi-Fi in the hotel room. Otherwise the room was great, bed and bedding was so comfortable. Was super happy that I was close to everything downtown.

Aside from it being a Hilton property, I was VERY disappointed in our stay. Staff was lazy in getting room service that was part of our hotel package and we found out after the fact that we booked that the rooftop lounge and pool was already booked for a private event and there was no access. Being that the main reason we chose to stay in this hotel, we should have been informed upon arrival or before so we could have found another hotel with the amenities promised. To make matters worse, that party had an "Animal House" event on our floor after quiet hours and from 10pm to 3am we made several calls to management and security did not solve the issue until 3am. The only condolence offer for our awful experience was $100 off the room. I feel as a Hilton customers should be treated better than that. We will NEVER stay at this hotel again and really reconsider other Hilton properties in the future.

I actually really like this hotel, but the gentleman I just spoke to regarding reversing a charge on my credit card regarding 'incidentals' was extremely rude. From what I understand, 'incidentals' typically refer to a hold placed on your card in case you damage the room. He told me that it referred to everything from room service to parking. After clearing up the misunderstanding, I asked him if he could instead charge these 'incidentals' to the Hilton Honors member who the reservation is under, and he rudely said, "No, he has to call us and ask us to himself. " I have NEVER experienced such terrible customer service at a Hilton. Especially at this Hilton where everyone else is so wonderful. Matt in Valet and Isabella at the bar have always been very accommodating as well as other front desk associates whose names I don't know. Anyway, overall, I love this hotel. I just would really prefer to not have to deal with this particular gentleman again.

I really like this place a lot. I stay in a lot of hotels, and a lot of Hiltons as well, and this is near the top of my Hilton experiences. Beautiful room, great location, friendly staff. I really couldn't ask for more.

Everyone at the front desk was very helpful. We got the junior suite and our view was indescribable. I loved valet parking and the roof top pool. Will stay here again.
