Review of Americas Best Value Inn & Suites 2*

I don't normally review places, but this experience was very bad and I hope I can help save another traveler from going through this. The only positives I can say is that the refrigerator was nice and the toilet flushed. The outside door looked like it had been kicked in, there was no secondary/security lock, the Non-smoking room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, there was only a pedestal sink with no counter top, the tile floor was splattered with green paint, the wall by the sink was filthy, the shower was pink with soap scum and there was a large clump on hair on the drain. No hair dryer and no iron (there was an ironing board). When I went to get a different room, the person behind the desk looked shocked that I said the room smelled of cigarette smoke and was dirty. I was then shown another room which smelled about the same (the person said it wasn't cigarette smoke, it was only their cleaners) and equally as dirty as the first room. Since there was no way to get out of there without losing money, I went to the store and purchased bathroom cleaner and something to deodorize the room, not to mention something to spray down the bed, pillows and floor just in case there was something there too! I have no idea if there was a free breakfast, I wasn't told of one upon check-in, but even if there was, I wouldn't want it based on everything I had already seen and experienced. The staff — of the three that I encountered, only one was semi-helpful and pleasant. I have pictures of the things I am talking about. I plan to let the company through which I made the reservations know what type of hotel they endorse.
