Quaint rooms with history, there's a booklet which tells you about the famous people who have stayed in your room, the ghost stories, and plenty of information about the surrounding area. The bed was comfortable. The shower and bathroom areas feel a bit cramped, but work well. We had a closet in our room which was nice Guest services were great, and the bar has a good happy hour which went till 9pm on the nights during the week during our stay. There's also a place attached to the hotel which is also a bar, and the place where you get coffee in the morning, called the Rendezvous. We only got coffee which was much better than having to self brew gross hotel coffee in the room. Overall we enjoyed our visit and would come back for another.

Stayed here last night and absolutely love it. The building is so beautiful and the inside is decorated well. You can really feel the authentic vintage vibes in the room too. We stayed in a queen room with private bath. Bed was comfy and everything so clean! I really like the shampoo they provide as well. Definitely would stay again!

This place definitely has cool feel to it. The lobby and rooms are a little eccentric. Cool coffee place/ bar that has a good selection and is reasonably priced. The rooms and hallways are definitely in need of an update however. The room we stayed in had very old brown carpet which made it difficult to determine if it was clean. Also the beds could use new frames that have headboards. Overall neat place just in need of a little investment.

Still enjoying our evening of staying here at the Monte Vista. The cocktail lounge was wonderful with Stephen bartending. We met a girl named Beth who recommended a place for dinner. It was wonderful and now we are back at the cocktail lounge to enjoy karaoke. We are staying in the Debbie Reynolds suite and it is lovely.

Staying in a hotel like this is not for everyone. It's "different", vintage, classy, but still clean and modern and the aura is positive and welcoming. I had never stayed at the hotel before but I was so happy that I did. I only booked one night, I stayed in the Michael J. Fox room which had a personal bathroom (I don't think all the rooms have those). The decor is elegant and intriguing, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and there are two different bars just in the hotel you can go to not including literally being located in downtown where all the other bars/restaurants are. The convenience was wonderful! Parking is tight (have to get there early to get a spot) but not that expensive if you don't get a spot. I enjoyed my stay at the Monte Vista. I highly recommend it if you want something memorable on your trip! I'll definitely be staying there again in the future!

I love this place. The rooms are old and smallish, there are even “traveler” rooms with shared bath, and some look inward to no great effect. Still, the place has charm and history and character. Some rooms give a great view of the town or mountains. There are fun bars and breakfast places attached and the location is perfect. Can be a touch noisy. Staff is awesome.

Looking for an old time experience… this is the place to be. Old time atmosphere with history galore. Rooms were 1900s motif. The environment was top shelf for that time period. The front desk was loaded with knowledge of the hotel and area. The early evening was definitely youthful.

The service was great. The stories and history of the hotel are unforgettable. The room was on the small size, but plenty of room for 2 of us on an overnight stay. When I'm back in Flagstaff this will be where I stay. Without a doubt.

Great place, very nice help. It is an older hotel vintage, but nice and clean. Bar downstairs is a dive, but crowded and cool. Bar upstairs was nice. Cool place, loved location to downtown and the trains. Will go back.

Decent hotel. Great location. Without the haunted factor it would be a 2 or 3 star. Rooms could be a little cleaner. Bathrooms are very small but worth a visit to say you stayed there.

Front desk clerk was very friendly. We arrived early and she gave us a tip that there was limited free parking around the back of the building which was a huge help. Overnight stay was good also — — we overheard a neighbor's baby at one point, but ambient sound is a factor you must consider when booking a historic hotel. You might hear a neighbor or street noise and that can't be controlled. The lounge was great for a late nite drink, darts, or a game of pool. Overall this was a great winter weekend getaway! This is a historic hotel, so naturally it's very dated. This is our second time staying here, and we chose it because of its location. It's easy to stay parked and walk to where you want to go. It's also a very social hotel with the lounge areas bustling in the evening. If you are looking for simple comfort in a good location, this should meet your needs.

Hotel Monte Vista puts you right in the heart of downtown Flagstaff. It's central location was conveniently located next to a lot of good restaurants and shops and served as a good home base for exploring Flagstaff. The Rendezvous Bar was the highlight of our stay. The bartenders were fantastic! They were friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and make great recommendations. We stayed in room 307 Debbie Reynold's room. The room was spacious but dated, kinda like the whole hotel. Parking was a pain and the hotel has a very small lot that can only accommodate maybe 2 dozen cars. We had to pay hourly for street parking nearly the whole time we were at the hotel. Unfortunately soundproofing was definitely needed. We heard whole conversations from our neighbors and were woken up several times from the Saturday night crowd of downtown Flagstaff even though we were staying on the third floor. We didn't experience anything paranormal during our visit which was the main reason for selecting this hotel.

One of my favorite hotels. I'll go out of the way to stay here. The people are friendly, it's surrounded by great shops and restaurants, and there's the best dive bar in the basement. The lady at the front desk is the best!

This is a great hotel, with the best possible location in downtown Flagstaff. A Thai restaurant, a coffee shop and bar, a Cocktail Lounge, and free live music on weekends. The rooms are themed after the movie stars that stayed in them, and there is a complete history in the room amenity brochures. It has an elevator for those whose joints are worn out, and is surrounded by great restaurants, shopping, and bars. The only disadvantage is the terrible parking issue. They have 28 parking spaces "reserved for hotel guests", and at check in you are given a pass entitling you to use them, but, the lot is already full. Having taken a quick stroll through the lot, only about 25% of the cars had one of those passes on their dashboard. So you are left to spend 10 bucks to park in the public parking garage across the street. I found this to be particularly annoying as we have been coming here for 20 years without ever having this problem, and especially as we were warned not to park in the adjoining bank parking lot, because they actually have trespassing parkers towed or booted. I could live with this issue if they didn't advertise parking for guests, but if they're going to advertise it, they should provide it. You should try to stay here, but be aware you will probably have to spend an extra 10% just to park your car, as their "parking for guests" is meaningless.

This hotel is an amazing piece of Arizona history. There are so many stories associated with this building. When you walk into the lobby you are instantly transported back in time. The front desk is a monstrous, beautiful solid wood with an old clock above. It is stunning. Spanish tile and wrought ironwork complete the ambience of this hotel. Many famous people have stayed here and it is noted by plaques on the doors of the rooms. Our room was comfortable and mixed modern and vintage furniture and decor seemlessly. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. What a great experience!

Worst night ever in a hotel. Yelling, screaming, loud cars and street partiers all night long. Do yourself a favor and never stay here. Hopefully it will be quiet during the day so I can get a few hours of sleep. At least the TV worked but it still didn't drown out the noise. Too bad for us. The morning after this terrible night I asked the desk person to switch our room. The second night was much better as our room was on the top floor in the furthest room from the bar noise possible. It was a much better experience with much needed sleep. I must say that all the staff at this hotel were extremely pleasant and accommodating — very refreshing.

Lovely clean old fashioned hotel. Parking is a challenge so better to just pay across street $10 a day. Choose higher floor if noise from street bothers you. Comfy beds and very clean bathrooms.

My husband and I just spent two of the best nights in the most beautiful hotel ever. We have stayed in a lot… you could not have had a more gracious, friendly staff, from front check in to every single person working there, even the very busy owner took time for a nice chat sitting out on (the bench). The beds were very comfortable, bathrooms, were as clean as could be. Thanks to every one there for making sure we had an awesome stay. Will be back.

First off, 3 stars is a bit harsh but I can't really give it any more. The hotel is very historic and fairly well maintained, but we stayed in the hostel portion of the hotel. Our room was very small, the bathroom is shared as well as the shower. Neither were very clean and we didn't really use them. The room was right above a busy street and bar so it was a bit loud. All that being said, the staff was very very friendly and the hotel's website did a good job of preparing us for the noise as well as the shared bathroom. Everything could have been a bit cleaner but we definitely got what we paid for and what we were expecting. This hotel is good for a night or so and if you're tight on cash or don't want to spend more than about $100 for a room in town. Look for other options if you're with family or trying to get a good night's sleep.

Awesomely cool hotel right in the middle of downtown Flagstaff. This place is quirky and charming. We had a comfortable stay and enjoyed the bars downstairs. Highly recommend.

This hotel is by far the best around, especially in Flagstaff, Arizona. The hotel is historic and very well maintained. The staff is some of the friendliest and most accommodating I have ever met. The Night Auditor, Brandon Nelson, was most helpful and went above and beyond to assist myself and the guests who accompanied me. He is a great asset to this hotel. The service I received here included free Wi-Fi which was definitely a resource I greatly needed for business purposes. The room was clean as was the entire lobby area and the restrooms. This hotel is run very well.

Easy access to downtown area. Unique and eclectic decor. Certain rooms are named for past and present celebrities. Elevator available. Two great bars. A great staff. Prices are extremely reasonable for this historic hotel.

At the Monte Vista, the reason to stay is more about its location than its rooms. When I party downtown or attend a gallery opening and want to be able to walk back from my libation-filled evening, I stay at the Monte Vista. Their own basement bar has been known to host some mighty sound parties, too. And there are at least 4 more bars and 3 or 4 breweries within a short walking distance. It's my kind of centerally-located rest after the night's fun.

I've been in Flagstaff since 1989. The "monteV" is a great low key, fun, hang out spot. Good priced drinks and connected to Rendezvous where you can bring drinks between the two bars. Karaoke on Tuesday nights, super fun. Pool tables, arcade. Upper and lower levels. Good atmosphere. Some stinky locals but that's always been part of Flagstaff's scene.

It's a nice place in the center of Flagstaff. Still it depends on what you are looking for: the hotel has two bars (open till 2am), karaoke and some good ghost stories. The street right in front of the hotel is pretty noisy till 2 — 3 am. If you are looking for some sleep, you'd better find another place — earplugs don't really help. Besides of little sleep: our room (217) & bathroom was clean and comfortable. Still we were a little irritated about a ridiculous tiny tap?!? All in all I call it an experience.

We went to their Cocktail lounge after our wedding. They handled it very well when we descended upon them with close to thirty people. Their house drink, the peach harvest was really tasty! I can't personally speak for the prices, since my friends were buying drinks for me, but they said the drinks were more expensive than at Charley's. I liked the amount of space that they had. The music was louder than preferable, so it was hard to hear each other.

Great place of historic value. Love the vibe, the ambiance, old mixed with new. Center of downtown flagstaff. Fun place to visit.

The bar is great. Happy hour drafts are $2.50 and they have a great selection of beer. The rooms are celebrity themed with who stayed there and some of the rooms are haunted (according to the binder in each room). Besides the ghosts, the beds are comfy. Loved it.

Super old awesome place. The kind we're the sink is in the room. If that bitters you don't come. If you like weird places this the spot for you.

Great hotel in the center of Flag. Room was simple, but very clean. They have a great guest book that gives the history of the hotel and tons of information from numbers for taxis to restaurant and activity recommendations. Two things: The downstairs lobby connects to a bar, a lounge and another dining place so it can be noisy into early hours. I was staying on the 2nd floor right over the bar but had no problem sleeping. Parking: They have a parking lot on the side of the building but it works on a first-come-first-serve basis. There is street parking available or you can park in the public garage for $10. The staff at the front desk was very nice and helpful. Would def. Stay here again.

Was a very unique and quirky hotel, but this is to be expected with a historic hotel. The staff was very polite and the rooms were clean. The hotel itself was not exceptionally nice, but did have a nice charm to it. Would recommend for other travelers.

Historic Hotel, centrally located. Lots of dining, drinks and shopping all within walking distance. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms are dated and a little small but I was expecting that so I wasn't bothered by it. Parking would be my only complaint. They only have about 20 of their own designated parking spots. If those are full, you can pay $10 for garage parking across the street or park a block away for over night parking.

The service is little slow but they have good selection.
