I wish to place no stars. This stay was absolutely horrible due to the fact that I was mistreated by a staff member. I was told my “party” was to be shut down when it was not that at all. I also had other family members whom payed for separate rooms to come with me during this visit and they were followed while walking back and forth to my room as well as my room being watched. I have photos. Once I was told to shut it down, I nicely shut it down as well as the guest left. During this time I was NOT told that I was to be leaving the premises permanently as well for this stay. Once returned to my room, my key was disabled with all my belongings were inside. The staff member, whose name I do not know because she had no name badge on, basically did not want to give me my room back nor let me receive my items from the room. She was not understanding of the situation at all and had very nasty mannerisms with me. I have attempted multiple times to get in touch with the General Manager but cannot get an answer at the desk. This was the worst stay ever due to the fact of how I was treated by a staff member when I was calm and misunderstood because she did not deliver information properly. Actions that took place during this stay was very unnecessary as well as degrading.

Do not come here! They are a rip off, shady hotel. They keep your deposit with no proof of damage. The general manager is no help and will play along with the scam. They need to be investigated for prostitution and shut down anyways!

Racist manager! I was told that since I was not 21 (20 at the time), my boyfriend who is 23 could not book a room because I was with him. He told me the law stated that a person under 21 could not check in a room. Which is true, but the law does not state that a person has to be 21 to be a guest to someone who is of legal age to check in a room.

So far so good. Under construction was the check-in but after that every thing was on point. Loved our room. Bed was so inviting after a 6 hour drive. Nice sitting area and the little kitchenette and table a wonderful extra bonus. Clean, bright, and the price was awesome!

The price was right and the bed was soft. Room was freshly updated. Breakfast left something to be desired. All in all folks were friendly and I'd recommend it.

We had a great stay. The staff, Pam, Marilyn and Shanna were incredibly nice and helpful. The room was super clean and spacious. We traveled with a large dog with no issue. My only complaint is the other lazy, ingnorant guests who travel with dogs and don’t have the decency to clean up after your pets! Be considerate and help keep pet friendly places friendly!

The suite was great! A full kitchen, and a comfy bed. We really enjoyed the pool, and that there was a grill on the premises that we could use. My only issue was that the television reception was pretty poor, and fuzzy. Also, the internet connection was really poor, even after we signed up for their "rewards program" which is supposed to afford you a better connection. Wecould not get Netflix to stream at all, and even trying to listen to our Google music it was hesitate and drag. Over all a great 2 day stay, bit they really need to update their tech!

Pretty nice place. The boys loved the loft bed. Includes a basic breakfast. Not eggs and sausage but not bad.

A step up from motels, with nice home-like rooms. When we visited, the lobby was under renovation so they made do with trailer for check in and a guest room for breakfast. No hot breakfast, just prepackaged meals, no tables to sit down and eat. Basketballs for the court were flat. The staff are nice but clearly they had to work with limited resources as best as they can.

Great place to stay. Best breakfast ever. Will stay there again. Highly recommended.

We stayed at this location for one night as we were in town for a concert. We got a one bedroom suite and paid about $85. This is definitely a 3 star level hotel and should not be compared to higher end companies. What I liked most was the amount of space for the price point and the fact that there was a full kitchen. Some 4 star hotels don't even offer a mini frig and a microwave! The room came with a king size bed and I liked that the sink/mirror was separate from the actual bathroom. This allots for privacy and more than one person getting dressed at the same time. The carpet had some stains on it but I brought slippers. The couch in the living room was old but I wasn't there long enough to sit on it so these things really didn't bother me too much. The staff was pleasant and the lobby area was nice. There was a computer available for use and we noticed a gym; although we did not use it. Complimentary breakfast was also offered. The only thing that caused us to raise an eyebrow was that it appeared that there are some people that live there. The "hotel" looks just like an apartment complex. There are parking spaces literally in front of the doors and the buildings are two stories. We observed some children playing outside and there were other indicators that there are possibly some "residents" there. However, we did not have any security issues. If you are looking for a spacious; yet basic place to stay, this is a good option.

Wonderful hotel experience! The manager was careful to ensure his guests were satisfied with their stay. The rooms were very nice at a reasonable price. Some of the buildings and sidewalks were under construction, so this place should be even nicer in the future!

Make sure you book the loft. Its 10 times better and not much more expensive. Overall, I had a great stay. Anytime I'm in Birmingham, this is where I will stay.

Beds were comfortable but squeak. LR chair was broke, couch needs replacing. Doors sticking, breakfast was lack luster.

Very nice suites and convenient location. Kitchenette was missing a few items to make it useful though. And the layout of the room made some areas hard to walk through. Other than that, the place was nice.

The rooms were dirty. The couch had a gash in the arm and was covered in stains. The carpet was stained. The housekeeping took our towels and didn't replace them. The staff was rude and difficult. The breakfast was awful. Literally, there was nothing positive about our experience. We were told they are remodeling in March… they should shut down until then.

The room was beyond comfortable, even if the fireplace was non-functional. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. With the forthcoming renovations, this could quote possibly be the best place you'll ever take your rest.

Sonesta Es Suites is great. The staff is fantastic, the breakfast is good, and the beds are soft. I loved my stay minus the weather while I was there. 20° is not optimal weather. I would recommend.

Best in class. The rooms are apartments and if you are on the road a lot this is a great feeling that you have home amenities. Love this place.

The staff at this hotel is outstanding. My only complaint would be the broken sofa and chair in our suite. The room needs to be updated with new carpet and common room furniture. Also, for a suite that could sleep 7-8 more then a love seat and side chair is needed. The beds and pillows were great! And the kitchen looked updated. Overall, if we had furniture that could have been used, I would have given this a 5 star rating.

I liked it a lot. The room was very large and the breakfast delicious.

Great rooms with kitchen and two bathrooms, clean every day, convenient parking, food in the dining room-buffet, there are volleyball courts, football and gym, loved it here.

Good service. Huge rooms. Felt like my own apartment. Breakfast has everything one would expect. Gym is a generic hotel gym. Includes soccer fields, basketball court, and volleyball net.

Great location. Not far from the highway. Very spacious. Lots of children so a bit noisy.

The room was very big… more than I anticipated! Also, the supplied breakfast was delicious and served it with good service.

Room was just "okay". A bit rough around the edges and could use a bit of upkeep, especially in the bathroom. Exterior entrance was poorly lit, and could be a security issue.

I recently stayed at the Residence Inn Inverness. Wow what a pleasant experience! The first person I met on the staff was Courtney she checked me in. I had left my credit care at the previous location. When I returned thirty minutes later she remembered my name. She checked me into the exact room that I had requested with in five minutes. I really appreciated that because I was very tired. My room was clean and quiet. The next morning I didn't even have to leave the property to eat a nourishing breakfast. In the dinning room is where I met the next very cheerful employee Marilyn. Not only was she very courteous she was also informative. Marquice did a good job cleaning my room and was very polite. Terry the manger was very helpful with making sure my stay was a enjoyable one. I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend.

Room was okay, not fancy or renovated. A one night stay for $130 was a bit expensive. Staff was really nice. The free breakfast in the morning was delicious. Marilyn, the am cook, was very friendly and the food she prepared was fresh.

Thieves and poor management! A member of the housekeeping staff stole my cellphone from my room and management failed to respond. Numerous phone calls to Ops Manager, Marques went un-returned. No offers for compensation, credit, or so much as an apology. Not the way to treat any customer — never mind one who spent 30 days at this property. Recommend another Marriott property anywhere else in B'ham.

EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE TODAY is apparent at Residence Inn Birmingham Inverness. I am a Platinum member of Marriott Rewards and stay about 100 nights a year. I stayed at this run down Residence Inn with my family to start a vacation. The morning before we were to leave, the front office and manager Markiese had someone at the front desk call me to let me know that it was my responsibility to have let them know that I brought my dog and they were going ahead and conveniently charging me $100 non-refundable for bringing my dog. Apparently they had a maintenance guy out trolling the parking lot and he was apparently creepily spying on my girlfriend! They indicated when they called me, "Hey we're pet friendly! " When I called the lousy customer service department at Marriott Rewards Platinum line to discuss and talked to "Charlie" there, she could have cared less! In fact, she called the hotel, conspired with them and then indicated that I should have seen the 3 inch sign posted in some non-descript location at 10 o'clock at night in the dark, indicating that I was to tell them that I had brought my dog. Charlie said, "Well have you ever stayed at a Residence Inn before cause that is their policy? " in a snotty fashion. I thought this was funny as I am at the Chesterfield, MO location twice per month at least for 2-3 nights at a time on business.

I love this place, if I never leave I will not be upset.

Very nice room. Spacious and clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. It was quiet and we had a good nights sleep for two nights.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE *** This is nothing but a run down apartment complex with no credit or background check required. Nothing but low-lifes and drug dealers gathering the property, complaints to the Manager gained nothing, as he looked like he was on drugs also. The rooms were less than reasonably expected for the 3 star rating and $100/night price. Yes, they we spacious and essentially a small 1 bedroom apartment with the living room/bedroom partition knocked out, but I did find bed bugs and requested to be moved to the manager, Larry was rude and very demeaning.

Infested with BED BUGS. I stayed here for a weekend while visiting family. The room was okay, if you like to have bed bugs crawling all over you in your sleep. I ended up haveing to throw all of my stuff away after returning home and seeing the critters. The employees are rude and lazy. I can't believe this place still gets business. I'm appalled. I'm sure "george" below is an employee there trying to help Themselves bc there's now way these fools provided that service. What a joke.
