It was an awesome experience to see all of these future football greats come together.

I want to start with saying April the manager is freaking awesome Charles Temples.

The sleeper sofa is a bit on the small side.
It is literally only 2 feet wide. We tried to use the phone. It was dead. We traced the cord to a blank jack. Went to the desk to complain and no one was there.

It’s near the freeway
It’s in a weird location though at the top of a hill and a bit hard to find.

No room phone, no mattress on the pull out chair, refrigerator didn't work and no maintenance there that day. Then they didn't want to comp us anything and then made clear the manager was unavailable.

Checked in around 7 a. M. After traveling on the road all day and was told that my check-in time will cover me until the following day and low and behold 9:30 a. M. The same day rolls around I'm getting a knock on my door and they were asking me did I even check in and. And they told me I needed to check out at 11 or pay full price again I was not made aware of this before actually checking-in and paying. I was misled and deceived either way so I immediately left and will never stay at this location again.

They wouldn't book me a room because I was white. True story. It's sad to say but that's the truth. It was only 9: 30 p. M. Then they told me they were closed.

Very clean place to stay. Small pool. No vending machines? But they did have a great breakfast!

If you're pulling a trailer or camper or driving a large U-Haul or semi, I do not recommend staying here. You have to go up a steep hill and parking is very limited. There's only a small gravel area big enough to turn around in as soon as you come up the hill and there's no other good place to turn around if people are parked under the entrance or at the far end of the lot. Other than that, it's a decent stay. Rooms are clean and beds are comfy and they have a large selection of TV channels. Breakfast is good too.

This was our second stay. Both times staff was very friendly and helpful. Pool, fitness center, and room were all clean. Breakfast was hot and ready when promised. Choice of firm or soft pillows. We’ll be back again.

Ray W. At the front desk was AMAZING. She helped me fix an issue with my reservation and went above and beyond. This is my second time staying at this hotel and thanks to her there will be many more stays to come. The room is clean and very comfortable.

Smelled odd, probably because the AC unit leaked condensate all over the floor, so the floor by the window was always damp. And they put me in the handicapped room, so that room wasn't available for people who may have needed it, and the shower was at my chest. The rest was pretty standard quality for a Holiday Inn Express.

Overall my experience at this hotel was extremely satisfying, my room was nice and neat and also quiet. The free breakfast was very adequate yet on point. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and professional with me.

Great hotel close to airport with very helpful staff. The room was clean and updated. The common areas were also clean and well maintained. Breakfast was a plus!

Stayed here last night. Was tired from driving 10 hours and needed a place that would accept animals. I had to pay $25 extra for my dog and was put in a handicapped room why idk. I also noticed when I woke up the next morning that there was a band aid in the shower that I didn’t take off. Do not stay here. I also had to ask for a blanket because they only had sheets on the bed.

Not up to standards. Trash at entrance greeted us. Cars parked under the entrance awning that weren't used for just checking in was also very much a hindrance. Not worth the cost at all.

When I checked in I had a maintenance problem. I called the front desk. Two of the maintenance personnel showed up immediately. They were very friendly and fixed the issue right away! The hotel is lovely!

I've stayed here for 6 week when working out of town the last 2 weeks they been having issues with their cable service this week now television doesn't work AT ALL call the from desk they say oh the guy will be back in 2 days REALLY who want to sit in the room and watch your smartphone the entire time of your stay that what you'll be doing here at Irondale Holiday Inn express.

There’s only 2 things I wish they had in addition to the amazing service they already provide! A USB charging port and softer toilet paper. No complaints.

Very nice and clean rooms. The front desk was pretty nice. And the internet speed it good.

Great location very close to the highway. You have a number of restaurants that are very close to the hotel so it makes it really convenient to grab a bite to eat.

Staff was extremely friendly and focused on great customer service. Room was very clean, comfortable and modern. Nice amount of available amenities. I can't stress enough how friendly and helpful the lady at the front desk was. I wish I had gotten her name. We stayed here on March 23, 2018.

A good place to stay. Close to the highway and places to dine. Quiet for the most part. I was there at a time when there were hurricanes and people were fleeing and needed a place to stay.

We've stayed at several Holiday Inn Express. This one so far was the worst of them all. There was tissue stuck in the peep hole of our room door which kind of creeped me out. I was hoping the building was having some renovations. There was scraps andrandom holes in the wall.

The hotel could have been a little cleaner as you walked in. The hotel was very friendly and my check in very simple. My room had a few issues with finding hairs in the bathroom and in the bed. This is one of my huge pet peeves. Breakfast was good and quick.

Check in was easy but it was downhill from there once we settled in for the night. TV Didn t work. Shower flooded bathroom floor (curtain too short). Kept feeling something crawling on my skin. Little stnk bugs all over. Breakfast wasn't much better. Bagels were either weren't completely defrosted or were stale. However, Gabrielle, at the front desk was kind and understood how disappointed we were. We were compensated with enough priority points for a free Holiday Inn stay. Unfortunately it will not be at this one.

Had several issues but they were all handled quickly and professionally. Overall great stay! We will stay again soon!

One of the worst hotels we have ever stayed at. When we made the reservations several months ago we were told they were puppy friendly, well when we got there we were told they had a management change and there would be a thirty five dollar charge for our puppy. Then when the wife got one of the carts so we could carry our things into our room one of the staff girls said where are you going with that? No water pressure at either the sink or the shower, you'd have to run around in the shower just to get wet. All in all if you are serious about staying somewhere I'd recommend the Hampton just down the street or just stay in your car. If this was the only place to stop for the night I'd keep going somewhere, any where has got to be better than this dump.

This place was terrible. Some of the staff were very friendly and others were okay. Here are a list of things I dealt with while there. The AC fell out of the wall (yes you read that right) The toilet was stopped up constantly Cleaning crew did not clean. No made beds no nothing! The room smelled like dirty dogs. I asked someone to spray. … I asked each day. It's the most 'cleaning ' they did There was mold… Lots of mold Also there were spider webs. I'm talking it could've been used as Halloween decor spiderwebs. It was large and taking up a lot of the wall. And most definitely real. No one changed the towels in the bathroom The breakfast was 3 out of 5 You get the point by now im sure. Also I stayed at a different holiday in recently and it was much better. I'm not saying they all suck, just this one.

Great hotel. Very affordable and accommodating. Loved breakfast and found the concierge to be extremely helpful.

When I stayed here the side entrance door was broken anyone could just walk in off the street bypassing the front desk. Check-in was a breeze. I slept well comfortable bed. Housekeepers need to do a better job cleaning the shower.

Ashley, the front desk worker was very disrespectful to us. Even after trying very hard to be nice to him, he repeatedly talked to us like we were children and was not someone I would want representing my business. Also, the hotel was undergoing renovation, and there was materials and tools laying around everywhere. Whomever is doing the work is not being told to pick up their things when they complete their work for the day. Thankfully we had no kids with us, but that would have made for a huge safety hazard. The room was clean, but one of our beds had broken springs and was basically a 1-person bed. There was also a terrible musty smell in the bathroom, and the bathtub drained very slowly. We had about 4" of water in the tub after our showers. To top it all off, the fire alarm went off at midnight, and we all evacuated. I felt awful for the families with small children. But… NO ONE from the hotel ever came outside to notify us that it was safe to go back in, issue an apology, etc. No firetruck or emergency personnel ever showed up. We stayed outside for about 15 minute before the alarm went off. Upon seeing no smoke… all of the guests decided to go back in and go to bed. The next morning, we tried the continental breakfast. Everything was good except the milk in the small cooler. It was very bad… clumpy and curdled… even though it was within the expiration date and did not smell bad. We believed the cooler was not cold enough to hold milk at a safe drinking temperature.

Comfortable beds, satisfactory breakfast, pleasant staff. The rooms don't appear to be cleaned very thoroughly. We enountered quite a few issues with the lights not working, the toilet not flushing, etc. Don't expect the suite style rooms to be very spacious. The "pull out couch" is a tiny cot, the kitchenette does not include counter space or a sink. I was here for five nights. Overall, not a bad experience but there is much room for improvement.

Smells like mold, wasn't vacuumed, and the bathroom door doesn't close. It looks like they're upgrading, which is a positive. And the staff is super friendly. Coffee and tea in the lobby all day.

In general the hotel was very clean, had a very pleasant staff, and well kept common areas. However, our room was extremely humid with a very distinguishable damp smell in the air and the air conditioning shut off in the middle of the night. The staff inquired of us at checkout if we enjoyed our stay and we responded honestly about the air and humidity in the room. They offered us nothing in consolation for our discomfort. Was disappointed at how it was dealt with because otherwise it would have been a pleasant stay.

My family did not have a good experience here. The first room we were given was damp (linens on beds, carpet, chairs) and incredibly musty. We asked to switch rooms and were accommodated nicely by the person at the front desk. The second room we were given didn't appear to have been cleaned thoroughly at all. There was hair all in the bathtub and there were peeled off fingernails all throughout the carpet in the main part of the room. It clearly had not been vacuumed well and I insisted on a new, clean room, as I have a crawling baby who likes to pick everything up and put it in his mouth. Gross! Our third room was fine and like I said, the people were nice enough, but I was not impressed by the cleanliness of the first 2 rooms and that ruined the experience for me. We had been traveling all day and had 4 kids, so moving rooms 3 times was a huge inconvenience. We asked to speak to management about our experience. I have tried calling a few times but my calls were never returned.

I would give it a lesser rating due to cleanliness, but taking into consideration that they are remodeling, the staff was super nice, helpful and it actually had a continental breakfast as advertised… I feel they deserved at least a 4. I would like to recommend dog waste stations though since it is a pet friendly hotel. I'm sure not everyone will utilize it, but its worth a shot ;)

Nice hotel just off of I-20 in the Birmingham area. Our room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast had a good variety and was appetizing, including the cinnamon rolls. The Wi-Fi was quite slow, which seemed to be he only issue we experienced while here. It should be noted that (as of July 7, 2017) they are currently renovating the hotel's rooms and entrance. There will be some inconvenience related to the ongoing construction. Otherwise, this is a good hotel and we have enjoyed our stay.

My room was clean and the staff was friendly. Breakfast was pretty good with many options. The pool was a bit green. One room my group stayed in didn't get cleaned while we were out of the hotel one day. The staff quickly cleaned the room after room cleaning problem was brought to the clerks attention.

Friendly staff, and the breakfast was really good in the morning. Where to start with everything else? The first room I had was pretty terrible. The first thing I noticed was that the room smelled like urine. The toilet doesn't flush unless you hold the handle down. The shower wouldn't drain properly, so you might be standing in your own filth while you shower. The cable has a lot of static on the TV. After the staff listened to my complaint, I was upgraded to a "better" room. This room didn't smell much better and the shower does not keep the water from the floor even with the shower curtain, but I was too tired to complain anymore. I probably wouldn't stay here again, but again the staff was at least nice.

The location is just off I 20 and nearby to several key spots including shopping and food. 15 minute drive to downtown assuming no traffic. The breakfast is pretty good for hotel breakfast. Pancakes, waffles, muffins, eggs, and some meats and cereals. The service is very good. Hotel is overall quiet and the staff is friendly.

Yes it has been updated, but the little things were not attended too. No water in the fitness, no water in the snack shop — snack shop was completely out of everything for that matter — trash was overflowing in both cans in the breakfast area, etc. Great effort Holiday Inn Express but you have some loose ends to tie up.

Room was clean and as expected. Only one issue, and for me it's a big issue. The Internet speed was barely at dial up standard. For a major brand hotel outside a large city it was unacceptable. No hotel should provide such substandard Internet service and claim that they even offer Internet service to their guests.

Stayed here quite a few times over the past four years on business trips. The hotel is typically very quiet and the room is always clean. Easy location just off of Interstate 20.

Everything was pretty satisfactory, the Wi-Fi has problems, but the night desk fellow was more than helpful with fixing it. These particular elevators gave me a fright with their shuddering and creaking. Take the stairs.

Room was nice and clean service was great the free breakfast was not so good I got to breakfast at 8 30 there was no food everyone was waiting I left at 9 15 and went to McDonald.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. When we first got into our hotel room we had to kick out about 10 ladybugs and 1 spider. Not exactly the welcome we wanted. But, we had no problems with unwanted guests after that. Breakfast was great. Loved all the variety. The cinnamon rolls were so good. You could tell the eggs are made out of powder. Loved that they had a high chair for my baby. Made eating so much easier! We asked for a crib, so they knew we had kids with us. Therefore, putting us next to the outside door was not smart on their planning. From 8:30 (when we put our baby and kids down) until 11 we would hear that weighted outside door open and slam shut. Same thing would happen in the mornings. It would wake my kids up whenever that outside door would shut. Overall, it was a good hotel and I'd stay here again.

My stays have always been nice. I stayed there every time I had chemo, but I stayed on the ground floor. The room was always clean and neat.

Checking in was nice, but checking took longer then needed and was not friendly and as long it says they offer shuttle service on their site they need to honor it.

A quality hotel. Staff was friendly at check in, room was clean and quiet, and breakfast was out on time in the morning. The only negative was that the bed was a little lumpy. I would stay here again.

This Holiday Inn Express was wonderful. The staff were pleasant, the room was great and affordable, and breakfast the next morning was delicious.

The worst experience in a hotel I have EVER had! STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE. There are great hotels right across the street. There isn't enough room to write all that went wrong. But I will state that starting at 11:30pm after I lied down after a long day of driving I heard doors slamming on the 4th floor. Guys talking, yelling, laughing, slamming, etc. I called downstairs to ask for assistance and they said they are, 'Special Guests'. Who are they? Friends of the owners and we can do nothing about it. Bob Patel and his brother own the place and Holiday Inn refunded my money and the Holiday Inn 'Brand Management Team' among others are reviewing if they will keep the 'Patel Brother's Hotel' in their franchise. If you want a good nights sleep and don't want drama, weird charges on your credit card, terrible service and accommodations, I'd suggest staying in a nice hotel. 01 miles away.

I am an avid traveler, avoid this particular hotel at all possible their morning staff especially Koe mistreats (extremely rude) to customers, I woke him up at 0530 (while he was at work) and he was very upset he was asked to do his job and he refused to do it — he was too tired.

Where to start? There were so many things wrong here. I booked my room through our travel service. The reception people could not get it right. Then at departure, I was given a 5 page bill for charges I did not incur. The front desk attendant said it was taken care of, and we were good to go. 4 days later I see my credit card statement. I was charged an additional $198.00 for who knows what, I called the hotel, and guess what? they don't know why either, yet, as of this review, they have not refunded my money, and now I have to file a dispute with my credit card company. DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU ENJOY HASSLES! FYI, you can walk the stairs much faster than the "slow as molasses" elevators they have there.

I travel every week. This hotel didn't have my requested room available, the hotel manager was barking out orders to the staff from her office. Wallpaper peeling by managers name at check in. Placed on same floor with about 20 teenage kids that ran the halls, sat outside my door (at the end of the hall) on the phone, went down the stair exit from 6pm — 2am. At one point, I had kids screaming from the pool below my window, some running down the hall and one banging on the wall opposite my bathroom — shaking the towel rack. Then were going again at 7am. Maid service was tapping on the door at 8am to clean. Channels on TV weren't clear and even jumpy on the screen. Kept loosing internet service while attempting to work. Being the frequent traveler and Priority Reward Member, hotel should offer feather pillows in rooms also. There were none. Only restaurant near hotel was McDonalds.

Hotel and staff are friendly, hotel is clean. Wifi is buggy, they can not seem to get their newspapers delivered, or their Orange juice machine fixed. Closest restaurant chain, Olive Garden, a few miles away.

I would say, room are holiday Inn standard, very comfortable. Breakfast buffet (included) is poor and starts at 6, 30 A. M. They were not ready on my stay up to 7am. Light was on at 6:55. Lounge had 2 bins completely overloaded by breakfast trash and was not cleaned till 7, 15. Everyone had to leave plats and napkins on the few table available. A very pleased stay out of the breakfast problems.
