A beautiful Masjid. Every one must visit.

The mosque is huge in terms of scale. One of the minarets was being repaired during my visit. I wish that visitors maintain silence during their visit because people still pray at the mosque. The tiling and art work are very intricate and impressive. This place is a must see when visiting this beautiful city of Istanbul.

An island of freedom in the middle of Istanbul's sweltered and crowded historical center. Open area, landscaped for walks. Plenty of benches, beautiful views of mosques, a minimum of outlets. In the middle there is a structure with taps with water to drink and wash. To get from Ataturk Airport here you can drive 6 stations on the subway, and boarding the tram T1 (from two directions of the tram to choose the one that is in the same direction, where your subway was going)

A historical site that is always crowded. Especially filled with people during the month of fasting. A good resting place where you can view the various mosques and minarettes surrounding you.

In the period of Ramadan the evening is full of people who do picnic. Crowded.

The most iconic symbol of Istanbul is I think is the Blue Mosque. And the next is Hagia Sofia. So the green space/park between the two has to be equally special. A nice resting place to catch the breath (while taking in the beauty of the exterior of these two architectural and historical marvels) before resuming all the touristy walking.

Such an interesting place whereby the land contains famous Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Hippodrome of Constantinople. A beautiful square full of greenery and tourists and corn sellers you may enjoy leisurely stroll while listening to the guide or the recorded history. It is a must to visit while in Istanbul.

Fabulous square in Sultanahmet area with vistas of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. The public square is one of the massive open spaces in Istanbul built for relaxation in an historical neighbourhood. The tram station of the same name provides ready access to the public. For a taxi you have to walk off the square to a lane accessible by traffic.

Saya tumpang makan malam di tempat makan. Semua makanan saya bawa sendiri. Kemudian saya minta air panas, sebab bawa ada bawa 3 in 1 sendiri. Tapi dia (receptionist) salah tafsir yang saya minum air yang disediakan dan dia maklumkan ada CCTV. Saya faham dan saya kata saya akan bayarlah sedangkan saya ambil air nescafe 1 bancuh ketika itu sebab dan habis 3 in 1 untuk keluarga saya. Dia kata sepatutnya kena caj 10 lira. Ok saya tiada masalah sebab saya pakai cawan dan sudu dia, untuk upah dia cuci cawan dan sebagainya. Jadi saya berikan 20 lira. Dan dia buat — buat tak ingat atau buat — buat tak tahu nak pulang baki. Nasihat saya pada semua pelancong2 Malaysia jaga — jaga ya. Kalau bagi duit ada berbaki sila buat penegasan. Bukan di hotel ini sahaja tetapi di semua tempat. Tempat tidur, aircond, lif, bilik air semua tiada masalah. Tetapi saya terkilan dengan sikap kurang jujur dalam urusan duit untuk pulangkan baki. Saya minta maaf ya.

The place is convenient to visit most places historically. There are descriptions of them in several languages. Nearby you can have a snack, there is going to most groups.

It is better to familiarize yourself with the objects you will see on the square before you walk in Sultanahmet Square (Hippodrome). Not having information about the fact that the columns and obelisks are on the Hippodrome, you will not be so interesting to inspect the area.
Next to the objects are installed stands with description. If you are more or less fluent in English, you can read all the information on the stands. There is no description in English.
Interestingly, the tops of snake columns in the form of heads of snakes are in the Archaeological Museum of Istanbul. So, to fully inspect one object, you have to visit two places.
Also on Sultanahmet Square is the Museum of Turkish and Islamic art, which is included in the list of museums of maps. Not far from the square, the way through the market, you can get to the museum of Mosaics, which is also on the list of museums of cards.
The Hippodrome is in close proximity to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and, accordingly, the park located between Sofia and the Blue Mosque.
In the spring the park was also dotted with flowering tulips, flowering trees and seagulls. :)
Beautiful place. Like all historical Istanbul.

This is the open area between the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque or Sultan Ahmed Mosque. There is the path that are over the surface of the original Roman Hippodrome. There are a number of Obelisks including an original Egyptian One standing proud in the square as well as fountains. At the area nearer the Hagia Sophia, we found the “Tulip Carpet”. This is quite an incredible sight but the duration of this event depends on the weather and the duration is short as the temperatures rise rapidly for the summer months.

I highly recommend all tourists from around the world to visit all the historic monuments around here. It is literally breathtaking. It's a place where you'll never forget.

Nice cosmopolitan place. Find yourself immersed in the heart of the SultanAhmet district.

Beautiful square, very well cared for. View safety pins from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. Source dancer, benches to sit on. Guarded. The point of departure of the tourist bus that run through the city. There are food stalls and local souvenir shops nearby, also exchange houses and restaurants.

First day of our arrival: a nightmare! No smile or hello to greet us on the part of the receptionist. Room located in the basement with dirty linens right next to the front door. Inside no place to lengthen his suitcase or hang his clothes. Full of chores on the sheets. Oppressive atmosphere with air conditioning down. The TV didn't work and couldn't pick up the Wi-Fi. Very unpleasant smell due to mold on the wallpapers. Window with view on the stairs allowing to climb on the ground floor, dust on the curtains and dirty toilets. Bed of 1, 5 seats for 2 people.
After arguing for 2h with the receptionist who said that this was not his problem we slept in a room that had just released and therefore not clean.
The next day we manage to negotiate with the hotel manager to have a room worthy of a human being by paying 70 euros extra. It was already much better even if the room remained fairly basic.
I put 2 stars because the location is superb but I advise you to book another hotel than this one for Sultanahmet because for the same price you have much better and with a nicer staff.

I saw him walking and said, that makes this obelisk only here, then when the guide told us that it was Egyptian and brought him and missing parts, one sees it with more affection Ajja.

Everything is close enough Most of the historic monuments are present here. Well connected to airport by public transport. Trains are off course heavily crowded. There are lots of shops for shopping, number of restaurants from cheap to costly one. Bazars are good option for shopping.

Really nice open space, nearby to many of the attractions. Lovely gardens filled with beautiful flowers for spring. Lots of food vendors and places to sit and take in the beauty of the old town.

Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul is a special place in the atmosphere and energy! Each time you walk through it, admire the mosques, which are located on each side. And how nice to dine in the restaurant, on the Terrace to watch the top view of this beauty!

The best old part, spiced is colorful! Absolutely to live and see. Secure well-connected and mystical.

Super central to sights, clean and safe especially by discreet military and present tense. Food and shopping facilities are also available.

Right bang in the city center. Topkapi place, blue mosque, hagia Sofia are close by. There are some cheap hotels for stay around the square. But restaurants around the square are expensive. Walk towards taksim square or to the periphery to find cheap eats.

Here is the area where most of the tourists are concentrated, teeming with people from 11 a. M. To 5 Ppomeriggio, then seems to empty, except the areas of outdoor spaces, this during the winter season.

Very beautiful. A lot of serenity!

Windows are quite thin so we could hear all the fraffic and the minaret. Each morning I woke up at 5AM for that reason.
Had to wait for more than 10min for the worm water to come to take a bath. There is no hot water at all.
There is a mold in the shower cabin.
No free parking. Forget if you want a coffee in the morning. Maybe it was a really good place in 2012 but in 2018 it does not worth the money you pay. Never again for me or my friends.

The Hippodrome was the racecourse in ancient Constantinople. It was the sporting and social center of the capital of the Byzantine Empire. The Sultan Ahmed Square is in the same place today in the Turkish city of Istanbul. The word "hippodrome" derives from the Greek words hippos ("horse") and Dromos ("Way, Path"). Horse and carriage races were popular leisure activities in the ancient world.

This place carries a lot of historical place around it. You can rest here with good street food options. Make sure to clean after yourself tho.

The fact that two historic buildings meet here increases the curiosity to come here. Also easy to reach (tram station). And everywhere seats, Wells, single sellers (be it cotton candy/corn).

To eat: it is very expensive goes towards Eminönü (5 min with the Staßenbahn) there the prices are definitely favorable overall rating 2 +

A historic square, now mainly as a place for local recreation and entertainment, but its history is worth your understanding.

Beautiful, many people, historical architecture. But beware, at night it is very insecure for tourists.

Is a place to relax! The square is surrounded by museums and mosques and restaurants and shops, but here, you can just walk around on the clean smooth pavement between trees and grassy areas, stop to read the plaques and kiosks explaining history and monuments, or just sit on a bench and people-watch: children at play; scantily clad women in 5” platform shoes; women completely covered from head to toe; entire families sitting together and eating sandwiches or roasted corn bough from push carts. Tourist police patrol the square but don’t seem to have much to do.

Very good place to walk for a while. Very quiet at all times and with several interesting monuments.

Beautiful square with the most important mosques nearby and a nice fountain in the middle. A Stone's throw from Topkapi. Too bad for the constant presence of police and military in buoyancy.

Terrible. Be carefull of the room in basement its full of mold, terrible smell and dangerous for your health.

The room in a basement full of junk and very dirty. No ventilation. Dirty and broken towels and bedding. It smells like moisture. To go down some old staircases without a banister to nape. Dirty and horrible is little, I really don't even if I get paid I would go back in there. I've never seen it. Amabiliddad Little, on the other hand. The driest receptionist Q La pajama. Don't you dare come!

This place is full of life, we can also see Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque on the other side so we have a beautiful view which is breathtaking.

Great atmosphere is this square. Paved pathways with 'squares' of grass to sit and relax. Great touristy atmosphere and a lot of restaurants along the square. Very clean and well maintained.

Be prepare and search for another hotel as well because you may ain't get what they promise on the phone and get a rude attitude of the receptionist (the lady) the day you get there.

Probably the only place in Istanbul each tourist visits. Rightly! Be aware of huge crowds.

Good place for relaxing and too clean. You can relax it here for hours with some ancient buildings available near to the square. Especially Hippodrome.

Nice view. Quite clean. But as a solo male traveller, I'm annoyed at the Turks who tried to lure me into bars every 10 minutes using exactly the same script. They are active from 6pm onwards. Good thing: if they already recognize you, they won't bother you anymore if you already said no.

I had a great time in Istanbul I still want.

I loved the hotel. It was so quiet, clean and the staff very friendly. We were on 4th flour and we had an amazing view. But prepare to hear prays at 5:00am because the church is across the road. We pay 65euros for 3 nights! Its also at the center of all sightings. We will totally stay there again if we visit Istanbul again!

I did not like that the people (receptionist) do not speak English well I do not speak it but I defend myself. It is expensive for two days I came out more expensive than the Grand Hotel Palace (near the airport of Istanbul) as I was told is. An old Ottoman house this hotel.

Recently taken by terrorists… It's a lovely place. Large space included between the two imposing mosques. The sun makes everything more glorious.

Special place, worth a visit, awesome architecture.

Very well maintained and with a spectacular view to say the least.

I was staying in this hotel for only 5 days but they had amazing hospitality and they are very very very kind people. Room service was great no complaints what so ever. It was also within a great price range and n the last day they offered us a complementary breakfast.

I must honestly say that I have been deeply dissatisfied and disappointed to leave the hotel. Starting at the reception with which there were problems because the rooms did not meet our requirements. A small TV which did not work, a very small bathroom. Etc. We were also told that there were no parking facilities, except for an overpriced parking lot. The hotel management had given us the advice to park the corner, as this car park would be free. In the end, we have to take over the entire penalty for the towing service! What a shame! No excuse nothing. Just outrageous. The only positive thing about the holiday was the surroundings in which the hotel stood, the sights and delicacies were fantastic. :)

Very friendly stuff who make you feel at home. The first room we got was OK, but upon request to change a room (which was granted) we loved it. Ask for higher floors as there are more quite. Great location, tram around the corner, great view!
