My husband and I stayed for 2 nights. From the warmest welcome at check in to wonderful staff throughout the hotel, we were so well looked after. The staff are all local and so hospitable, happy and friendly. The room was spotlessly clean and with a wonderful view over the ocean, you didn’t even have to step outside to appreciate beautiful Tonga. Breakfast was a ‘fill yourself up for the day’ buffet with great variety of food and the easy relaxed atmosphere at the pool, with poolside bar and restaurant made you want to just stay there all day! As soon as we walked through the doors of the hotel we felt relaxed and just decompressed from life. With a great art gallery show piecing really interesting cultural artwork and carvings to the soothing island music played by the pool and relaxing surrounded by carvings in the gardens, the hotel manages to create a really good ‘island atmosphere’. Rick Sinisa in Hibiscus Tours Tonga is super helpful and friendly so you can manage your trip and get to do everything from getting tattooed to island tours and so much more. I’ve travelled extensively and stayed in some 1st class hotels and I really think that what Jason, the manager has achieved on this tiny island with this hotel is outstanding: Anyone holidaying in Tonga and wanting a really comfortable, clean, well run, hotel with great food and staff in a central location to bars and other restaurants, then this is the place.

I love The Buffet Breakfast Only top$35 black coffee is yum, scrambled eggs, toast, Muesli, yoghurt & honey & bacon & ham & cheese omelette, juice, lemon water, etc tempura sushi only $18 Best in The Kingdom at other ordering station beautiful environment to be in only the best!

Really enjoyed our stay here. Probably the best hotel in Nuku’alofa. Rooms are great — spacious with tv, air con and everything you need. Staff were lovely and friendly. Especially loved the staff in the pool bar. Great pool area too. The food was also very good!

We had a great time together with the Cooks they booked a Room and it was awesome and wonderful environment. Got a snack and it was very nice…

Tanoa have amazing staff and a friendly atmosphere that makes you want to stay. Not only we have a beautiful room but it meets all expectation. Ms Maata Lavaki or Ata for short was exceptionally great in her customer skills and friendly approach. Everything was perfect! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who want to visit Tonga. Will definitely book again in the future. A big malo 'aupito to the staff at breakfast, you guys rock.

Although geographically not spot on, nevertheless it is great especially considering I have been at Greenwich as well. Just a feel good moment to see the sign.

Hotel is lovely. Facities are great. Room is great. People are friendly. Breakfast options limited such as only homemade jam and peanut butter (No marmite etc. ) Restaurant food was nice but on day two, first I found metal shavings in the sushi, put down to knife sharpening! And they were good about it. Then we both got food poisoning and can only put it down to that food. Pool towels are like hens teeth really frustrating. And the linen/towels have stains. But this is the best place we have stayed in tonga and would contemplate stayng again.

Not a hotel review but the restaurant is where I went! Food was nicely presented but for some reason not as tasty as I had anticipated! The servers are awesome! Keep it up guys.

Checked in 29th March until the 3rd April 2018. Weather not the best, heavy rains and flooding in Tonga. Tanoa was the best place to be sheltered. Felt safe, with all amenities available. Highly recommend.

I checked in at this hotel on Friday 23/03/2018 and the service has been great. The rooms are cleaned regularly. There is a reception staff by the name of Lisa who has been exceptional right through my stay at the hotel. She has a great friendly approach and has been very helpful throughout my stay. I have stayed at many hotels in the past, but her customer service skills is outstanding. The security guard at night was also very helpful throughout my stay. I highly recommend this hotel a place to stay if travelling to Tonga.

Lovely clean modern hotel by the sea. Close to town nightlife bus station as well as the ferry terminal. All within walking distance. Hotel staff were fantastic and friendly. Couldnt wish for a better experience.

The first few days were nothing special. But then Tropical Cyclone Gita hit. And the place went into overdrive.
If ever one needs attention and support, it is in a time of need — and the time of need arrived.
Jason (the unorthodox (in a good way) GM) and his wonderful staff went above and beyond what was required of them and for that we would like to retroactively give them our heartfelt thanks.
A fantastic group of people with a lovely property. When you're not using three-day old pool-water to shower. :-)

A clean and friendly hotel good for a few days stay. Close to shops and town and very friendly staff even the maintainance team,
who were working hard always had a smile. The breakfast could have been more diverse and sometimes it gets a bit noisy from the road and the roosters in the morning.

Had such a great experience at Tanoa hotel, friendly staff especially Samanda who was always going above and beyond to assist us she was very helful and helped us get settled making sure we had everything we needed and giving us directions around the hotel, our room was very spacious & clean, the pool was great to dip in and the breakfast buffet was superb as always one of da many reasons why I love to book a room at Tanoa… highly recommend this hotel and if you need anything ask for Samanda she's the best and we really enjoyed her service very much and hope that everyone else can be as helpful with great customer service like her.

Nice newly renovated hotel. The restaurants serve delicious meals all day around. However, there were ants on our bed and yellow stains on the bed sheets.

It was a nice note. Good clean amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would have preferred a better food selection on the menu as most of it was fried in some form or another. Also, the hotel had no hot water for the first 3 days, they were waiting on a part/engineer from NZ to fix it.

I want to say that this met my expectations — afterall it was fairly expensive. However we were sorely disappointed with the level of cleanliness in our room and for something that was fairly new, it had already started to look dated and run down. The pool area was smaill given the size of the place and the menu was average. The chicken nuggets were the best thing on the list. With all the great produce available I couldn't understand why they served potato chips and not kasava and taro chips. Why there wasn't more local cuisine when they had the expertise and ingredients to take Tongan food to the next level. Pasta with a creamy sauce. In Tonga. Seriously. It made no sense. The F&B staff were average except the breakfast shift who always had a smile and went over and above to make sure we had what we needed. We've travelled through out the Pacific and it is always sad to learn that local people work twice as hard for half as much. Tonga is no exception. The location was great though. An easy stroll in to the town centre and a good walk to the markets. Nothing outstanding. We hope our next visit will be better.

We are at Tanoa as I write so I'll start with the transfer from the airport which was great — our driver had good local knowledge. We arrived at Tanoa and check-in was easy. However our room was very small and smelled like a public toilet. Maybe they needed to change the water in the bucket before mopping the floors? The bed was comfortable. Taking a shower was a hazard because the bathroom totally flooded wetting not only the entire floor but also the toilet and toilet paper. Poor design. We asked to be moved to a different room which happened quickly and without fuss. The lunch/dinner menu is underwhelming with very little variety. In saying that the cheesy garlic bread and the chicken nuggets were awesome. You would expect a menu change for dinner but it's the same all day every day. The buffet breakfast has the usual suspects and the drip coffee is good. Servicing the rooms can take a while so don't expect that things will be done by 3pm. We just asked for a towel change and had the room done every second day. The pool area is small for the size of this complex. There is a cultural night which costs 40 pa'anga per person for a platter and show. We paid and received a platter to share but others around us received a platter each. There was no difference between these platters but the inconsistency was obvious. The show was performed to pre-recorded drumming and singing so not entirely authentic.

Very modern and newly (Q1 2017) refurbished to a high standard.

The staff were friendly. It was very noisy both in our room and in the main foyer. One night it sounded like there was a pool party and we could not sleep, sound carries and you can hear conversations taking place outside. We stayed three nights and found the water front rooms far too small for two people. It was cramped with nowhere to sit but on the bed. On the second day no one had made up our room by 2.30 so I went to reception to ask for it to be done. By 4.00pm no one came and we ran out of toilet paper so I called again and someone came to make up the room. I thought the food was average and limited in range. I had a chicken fried rice dish that was soothered in so much soy sauce and old tough chicken I could not eat it. The decor was nice and the bed comfortable. It was pricey for what it was. No balcony or deck to sit on to enjoy the lovely view. I would think twice before going back.

Nice and renovated place. Good pool. Food was ok also especially Fish & Chips at the Pool Bar which was made from fresh large chunks of tuna. Delicios…

The food was ok, my worst nightmare was when the waitress told us they dont have any fresh coconuts and Limes? Really Secondly the fresh topical Tongan juice on the menu came straight from a box as it was so sweet none of us wants to drink. Thirdly the Poke was tasteless, I felt the waitress was more annoyed that we asked her questions as to wanting to suggest something else?

Went to the hotel for dinner only. Quality was good as was the service. Would happily go again.

I have been saying at the Tanoa for 5 days. Hotel has only opened recenty but is fantastic. The staff are all very helpful, particularly Louise on reception. The bar and restaurant are good too and by Western standards are fairly priced and of good quality. Everything is new and clean and everything works in the room, not a single fault I can think of. Get in quick because I suspect this place is going to become very popular and if they keep trying as they are it will be well deserved.

Nice start to my relationship with Tonga as was my first trip and stayed at dateline/Tanoa. Lovely friendly staff and my first dinner was amazing! I'm really fussy with coffee but made to order and Rachel's coffee is excellent she listened to what I wanted. Definately stay again here again. Rooms basic but comfortable, apparently typically Island style without bedside lamps but has air conditioning thank goodness! The pool is sublime, sad to leave!

Quality Accommodation in Tonga and friendly staff.

I stayed in the west wing of the Tanoa International Dateline Hotel for seven days and six nights, from 10/11/16-16/11/16. When you walk in the lobby there's a huge open space with a ton of furniture. I did like the fluid space starting from the lobby area into the breakfast hall, then around to the dinner area by the poolside. Basically on the entrance level, there are no dividing doors to separate one room from another. Their banquet hall is in the middle of all that; surrounding it is what looks like it folding doors that could open that up for an event or stay closed. I love the open floor space, it’s a huge eye catcher for event planners and guest will never really feel left out. To the left of the lobby is the west wing, we were told the other wing wasn’t available yet so we took the room 1008. The staff there is pleasant and easy to get along with, everyone is really there to help. There are between two to four receptionists on duty at any given time of the day. Teini is the receptionist I remember the most because she was always so patient with our room key changes. In the breakfast hall Apollo and Leisiahi were always so helpful, especially when the continental breakfast changed to charge per meal. I already forgot the bartenders name from the lobby but she was the sweetest, I’ll have to post the photo I took with her. My favorite maid was Ana, I could easily tell when it was her shift because she left my room spotless.

Naaah the chinesse administration have gone since da goverment took over the place has back for business. Again.
