I expected more! I arrived at low tide, I found the beach bad! (Never seen a beach so dirty, 2 meters of seaweed and and to complete cans? Bottles and other things to the beach, none that "collect! " considered one of the most famous restaurants. I was doing more. Inside the restaurants I have contact 15 employees and no with the homework to keep the beach clean! Inside… It was clean nice staff but they did not have an Italian menu and no waiter who spoke in Italian, since the owner is Italian, I expected more! I knew the place is expensive but a juice 8 euros! Not even in Italy it costs! I have to say we ate well, 2 drinks 2 appetizers 1 First pasta and 1 second. Meat 2 Sweet we paid 140 euros! I went prepared, so Ja knew it was expensive… but how can you pay more expensive than our restaurants? And not to mention that the staff "like everyone in Zanzibar" are waiting for a tip! Anyway I was curious I'm glad I went but I do not think to return! There are things you do once and then you don't do it anymore. And then there are other places and restaurants very nice and that you eat very well and with honest prices. Give at least on the menu in Italian and if possible in waiter who speaks Ilaliano. And please. Offer the customer a free Wi-Fi. After dinner I stayed without communications because they offer you only 2 hours of Wi-Fi but at the end of dinner I was expecting my taxi driver having no more Internet I remained without being able to contact him.

Very nice place, good staff, tasty food. Probably the best place in Jambiani.

The hotel itself has a bad beach. Lots of algae. Although the hotel itself is pretty, with a pool and a beautiful view.

I had paid accommodation at Coral Rock Hotel (Jambiani, Zanzibar) from January 27 to February 4, 2018.

Inappropriate place for vacation with kids or to relax. I have paid for eight nights at the hotel Coral Rock Hotel (Jambiani, Zanzibar) from January 27 to February 4, 2018. With my family I spent there only 1 night and after that we left from that place. I traveled with two small children and I explained the hotel manager that the hotel is not suited for kids; even more it was dangerous for children to stay there. The hotel refused to refund even a small portion of the money. But I preferred to lose my money than to spend another seven nights there. In overall, the hotel management is very negligent towards the clients and has zero skills to settle down the conflict situation. In the given situation and presence of evidences, they still refused to recognize the problem and to do the refund. Thus, think twice before you decide to pay for that hotel! Why I preferred to lose my money and to leave the coral rock hotel: 1. The hotel (that is a set of houses and a restaurant) is located on the edge of a cliff. The distance from the house entry to the cliff is around one meter and the height of the cliff is approximately 2, 5-3 meters. The fence along the cliff is either non-existent or in some places there were 2 strung ropes. If you stay with kids in such a place, you cannot leave them unattended for a second! If your child runs or jumps, there is a high risk he will end up down the cliff. 2. Coral Rock Hotel has practically no territory.

Great hotel, small pool with fantastic view. Delicious burgers, as an alternative to fish.

One of the best hotels I've ever been to. Very serene, very quiet. Perfect for a getaway. The food is amazing and so is the service. Wake up to the sound of the waves crashing. I just can't imagine a better place.

A real treat for the eyes and senses! We were totally wowed when we arrived at Coral Rock. The resort is on an overhang sandwhiched between two beaches and our rooms faced the beach with our own private little thatched bed overlooking the most gorgeous ocean. We received a free upgrade because they were busy with renovations. The restaurant views are amazing and the buffet breakfast was delicious, but because it was low season not the entire menu was on offer. All in all a wonderful stay! Asante Sana Coral Rock!

One of the best secret getaway that I've ever been to. Jambiani beach is gorgeous, wished I had could have spent more time here. Most rooms have sea views with crystal clear water. The restaurant serves delicious food with European price. On Saturdays, there is a BBQ buffet and on Mondays, the place turns into a night club. This place is highly recommended.

Great place to hangout, has spectacular view of the Indian Ocean. Great food.

I was staying at an apartment nearby, and dropped into their cafe. The view was stunning! The employees are very friendly and relaxed, this place has a good vibe.

Really one of the greatest little getaways I've done for a long time. People were friendly, food was fantastic and the room was wonderful. It felt very comforting and worth the little time needed. It's no 5star hotel but it's definitely a home away from home. It's a place you can relax and sleep comfortably.

Cool place on a fairly remote beach in a tiny village. Despite the location, you are in a good modern setting. Monkeys are on the grounds, as well. Good views, great pool, easy beach access and fun bar/restaurant. Only downside: a waiter introduced us to "Captain Chicken" to offer us boat rides or snorkeling or whatever. The one place I thought I was safe from the beach-going hawkers was spoiled!

Waited an hour and a half for average expensive food then they told me to "come back tomorrow" to collect my change. That's just my experience though and the place wasn't unpleasant.

Coral Rock was beautiful, its on the beach, so be prepared for some fun in the sea. The rooms are airy, but like all Zanzibar, its humid, be prepared to sweat. There was air conditioning in every room. WYSWYG what you see is what you get, they do not over promise, and they are not an over the top resort. Expect to relax, but not to be pampered.

Absolutely great place. Amazing views over the beach. Really friendly, helpful staff. The owner Neil is very cool always takes time to help and answer questions. Highly recommended!

A really lovely place to go… I so have to share this with the world, as it is my place of peace on earth. I was there in 2011… did not make it there in 2012… this year and every year I would love to go back… just to pick up the pieces and say Jambo!

When I looked (jan27/2010), Google Maps showed The Coral Rock Hotel off the west coast of Zanzibar. Wrong! It and the village of Jambiani-Mfumbwe are on the EAST coast. // That aside, I will say that my travel pals and I received a warm, albeit cordial, welcome at the hotel — — after 26 hours in-transit in the air or in airports. After a couple of "Jambo" greetings and a few words in Swahili (I'd learned earlier), the staff (who came from the surrounding village) warmed up and we got to talking about all sorts of things. // Soccer is a mainstay recreation for the villagers — — it truly is the universal sport. I nearly fell off my chair when the bartender, Ya-ya, knew of "Vancouver in Canada". Turns out, a couple of their local soccer (they call it "football") stars had played for the Vancouver Whitecaps Football Club. Small world or what! // Wrt the accommodations, I found it pleasant and pleasantly quaint. The shower and wash basin took a little getting used to. Just accept that in a tropical place like Zanzibar there's going to be water on the floor. At least, it was clean water and it stayed in the washroom. // The scenery is, well, enormous. A canvas of azure waters kiss chalk-white beaches and the electric blue sky. Overhanging palms sway gently in the breeze. At low tide, you can walk forever, in your barefeet if you so choose.
