Friendly and warm welcome. Can’t think of anything we did not enjoy. Schwarz Mönsch dark beer, lovely food and many tips on activities. Will be back.

We were there for three days and it was just around perfect I can only recommend it to everyone. The food was super tasty and homemade and the ingredients even come partly from the own garden just wonderful.
And not to forget the wonderful home-brewed beer.

We absolutely loved it at Pension Gimmelwald. They are incredibly accommodating and some of the friendliest hosts we’ve had. The rooms are very nice, if you’re looking for the Ritz-Carlton, don’t go to Gimmelwald. Although, we did wish the room had a fan but I’d guess it isn’t necessary most of the year. The food is homemade and I am guessing that it is also mostly locally grown/made. There’s a cool “Honesty Store” with local souvenirs, local cheese, etc. They also have a great beer, Schwarz Mönche, that they brew. Dark beer is not my top choice but this stuff was great! Buy yourself a 1.5 Liter and enjoy! Everyone that was there, from guests to owners to employees, were fantastic. We will definitely be back!

I am so glad I found this place! What an absolute gem. The food was incredible, as was the beer, the staff were friendly and helpful, the views were breathtaking. I really liked the cosy style of the pension. I would go back here for sure. P. S. Please may I have your beef gravy recipe, it was the best gravy I've ever had. Thanks!

Great friendly atmosphere in a rustic setting with exceptionally fine ale ~ 'Schwarz Mönch', one not to be missed.

Very good home brewed black lager, Schwarz Monch. Beautiful terasse with a view over the Laiterbrunnen Valley and across to the mountains, including the Schwarz Monch. Small but delicious small plates available for lunch. Call ahead for dinner. Highly recommended.

Beautiful hotel and town. Very friendly people, plus they make their own beer. Nice village and nice views. Don't forget to try your beer!

The views from the bier garden can’t be beat and the pension is a warm comfortable accommodation to stay in the Alps. The food is filling and the pension provides a central hub for hikes and tours throughout the Lauterbrunnen valley. It’s my 6th trip to Gimmelwald and 5th time to stay with David and Sabine. We will be back in 2020.

I've been here only for four hours and I'm already in love. The community I've met has already embraced me graciously and I've so much yet to discover. They even brew their own beer!

Unbelievable views from their terrace. Staff is friendly, dinner is served at seven and you have to get signed up earlier in the day to eat there. Loved going for drinks every day we were in the area! Prices for their beer was 4.5 for 3dl, 7 for 5dl.

Amazing, superb, fabulous views. Creaky floors, great beer. Didn't know just what to expect but it exceeded all expectations of staying in a remote alpine village. Thankyou to Sabine, Margot, Anton. Not forgetting Little Lowen. Xx.

Exactly what you would expect staying in a small village in the Swiss Alps. Quiet, rustic, quaint, friendly. From the moment you cross the threshold, you become family with the hosts and the other guests. This has to be something out of a movie.

Very rustic. Views are to die for. Great beer and friendly staff. Shared bathrooms. A bit musty. Wonderful village away from the normal tourist crowd.

The most spectacular beer garden in the world. They brew an extremely nice dark beer and the owners are a great couple.

Jungfrau Blonde local beer highly recommended. Lovely place, staff and veggie menu.

Only two places to have food in Gimmelwald. This hostel serves pizza on some days and lasagna on other days. I had pizza and it was excellent.

Cozy restaurant and beautiful location. Only thing to know before you come is that there is a small set menu of lunch options, dinner is prix fixe and if you want fondue you have to call a day ahead. They have a home brew beer and a local cheese plate that would make the perfect after hike snack!

Very friendly staff and of course incredible views and location generally. Go for a nice hike and stop here for a drink after. Only complaint is the prix-fix reservation only dinner is a bit pricey for what you get. But hey it's at the top of a giant cliff face.

Awesome spirit of hospitality and friendliness! Though we were only there a few hours warming up with tea and hot chocolate we were made to feel very much at home. Very nice establishment.

Nice terrasse with a stunning view on the surrounding gorgeous mountains, moreover on the sound of Beethoven. Not tested the food, neitgher the rooms. You must come at least one time in your life in this region.

Amazing views of the Alps. This is a fairly quite town away from the main tourist areas.

I can only speak for the food which was excellent, especially for the limited options in the village. Of note, the goat cheese, beet, walnut salad was fresh and delicious (I've been craving a decent salad during our travels and finally hit the spot). My son had the burger: also fresh, natural, maybe slightly over cooked, but tasty, with awesome thick cut fried potato. Daughter had the 'soup of the day': a rich pumpkin, squash cream mix with a side of bread with local butter… all yum!

It's labeled as a Restaurant, but Pension Gimmelwald is more than that. First of all, Gimmelwald is a must see destination for any backpacker or world traveler. The views are amazing and the hikes are awesome. Pension Gimmelwald has been awesome. The staff are super friendly, they speak very good English, and they are very helpful with booking excursions and telling you where the best places to hike are. The private rooms are much better than I expected. The beds are actually semi comfortable and the rooms are quite pretty. Our room has a nice view of the mountains that surround the town of Gimmelwald. The food is also really good, and the chef appreciates feedback. If you're coming to Gimmelwald, make sure to come here.
