I can't quite understand the negative reviews for this hotel. I think the hotels in Spain should be better treated, because outside our borders, they leave a lot to be desired. There's nothing more than going to Paris to figure out, to set an example.
Central Hotel with spacious rooms. Complete bathroom included in the room. Double glazing that insulates well from the outside noise and the cold, but the noise of the hallway is little isolated. Comfortable bed and clean room. Excellent value for your location. They take care of the luggage as long as it takes. Special mention deserves the fact of having at the door of the hotel the bus stop that goes to the airport.

Not the cheapest but clean and a great location. The breakfast is expensive, better to find a local cafe.

Apart from the location close to the historic centre, BOF! Reception pretty dry. Room small not very similar to the site, the door creaks terribly, the bed also, impossible to close the shutters and especially a lack of soundproofing, it is very noisy. Buffet breakfast well… Phew!

Rooms are small but very comfortable. The location is great for visiting the old Saint Jacques.

Very helpful staff in a great location. Hotel is spotless with really comfortable beds. Great to be able to get breakfast for €8, very handy for tired and weary Pilgrims. Taxi rank on corner of the street and large car park right opposite hotel. Only a 5-7 minute walk to the Cathedral de Santiago de Compostela. Lovely shops close to the hotel. Highly recommended.

It's the worst thing I've found in hotels in a long time, the photos or correspond with the reality, the ones I will put here are the real ones, the bathroom you have to put your feet in the shower to be able to sit in the WC, the bedside table has a piece of wood incorporated with U n plug that does not work, the window gives to a wall, and above the hotel is under construction, a real scam, before choosing this hotel I advise that you stay in U hostel that for half the money, you have more amenities.

The hotel is fine, they are reforming it but still has some shortcomings, such as the use of blankets instead of Nordics (much more hygienic), windows and curtains that are old and little insulated from noise. The walls are too thin and you will hear all the noises and conversations of the adjoining rooms. It also says that there is a hairdryer, but it is old and barely air.
Breakfast is good, it is buffet type and abundant.
Very friendly staff, and good housekeeping if you don't consider the detail of the blankets and curtains.
Good place to spend the night as the facilities are comfortable but not a great hotel for a long stay.

Acceptable for overnight stay. The bed and pillow very comfortable. The bathroom was good. The room was a bit old. You hear a lot of noise from the hallway and other rooms. Breakfast is pretty good.

Convenient, good and very central location.

Located in the Plaza de Galicia, in the heart of the city next to the old town. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops in the area. The bus stop and the airport is right in front of the hotel, as well as a taxi stand. The room, although reformed, still seems old. To access it you had to go through the dining room and dodge all the cleaning material that was on the floor. But that was not the worst, when entering the room the temperature was icy and the air conditioner was complicated to regulate. The bathroom there was no way to warm it up and the towels looked damp. When I put myself in bed the sheets were frozen. It seemed like the room had not been used in months. More than a hotel it looked like a hostel. It's not a hotel I would go back to.

Somewhat frumpy, but clean and inexpensive outside of the season. Directly in front of the bus direction airport!

Victor the receptionist, the best deal, always willing to help and it was noticeable that he was born, more receptionist so please.

Great location, clean room. Heating the room with a very noisy air conditiining machine was not dealing well with the few outside degrees (in my oppinion for the room we stayed). Extremly cold bathroom with no heat. Nice reception persons. In summer it should be great.

To be a two star is fine. From my attic room you will see the cathedral and the Parador.
What Q fails a bit is cleanliness, I have found a few long hairs in the bathroom.

Hotel in a good location compared to the centre of Santiago de Compostela and the university. The service was courteous, helpful and discreet. The rooms and common areas are clean and welcoming.

It's perfect if you spend little time in the city. You get off the transfer that brings you from the airport and you walk into the hotel. This refurbished, they have air conditioning. The only downside, the doors of the rooms make a tremendous noise to open them, and this morning annoys the others.

Your room on the 7th floor. Disaster… lift reaches sixth floor, you climb another up the stairs and you are in a room with a huge flake on the wall and the window shows you the image of a shabby light yard… but still did not get the worst, as it is impossible to sleep by the noise of an excerpt R, it's 00:18 and it's still working.

Exceptional location, but it is an old and half refurbished hotel, sacrificing one thing for another, 3 minutes from the cathedral in the heart of the historic quarter, and with an economic car park right in front, everything else is better.

During the stay we had to face a health emergency and the staff was very helpful and efficient Gracias!

We stayed 2 nights the first in 1 room that was correct the second Fueimprevista and we got 1 room on the last floor 7 and only had lift to the 6 floor so we found that did not comply with security measures to a sinientro the ameties of AR Very very good Gan.

Bed and breakfast in large triple room, clean and comfortable for €50… meters from the center… this very well being a two star.

Well, the central location speaks for the hotel. The reception desk was professional and helpful. Probably had one of the cheapest rooms — this was very small for 50EUR. No bathtub only shower — which was so tight on one of the shower curtain sticks. Window into the courtyard. Well.

Intense traffic in a square close to the city center. On payment parking is available here.

Centrally located. Perfect for catching airport shuttle bus. Right outside the door. Clean comfortable.

Our room was not like room on photos from web site. Bathroom was small, room without window. (On photo it's look like window but… no). Wi-Fi was very poor. Just one thing is good — location.

Great location right in the middle of Santiago. Basic room but spotless. Own bathroom. Nothing on ground floor, only a desk in reception. Breakfast area on 1st floor but lots of little cafés around, no bar. Public carpark across the road (not free for guests but handy). Great spot for seeing the city.

Hotel very well located to visit the center. Very cheap price and decent rooms. We do not use the dining room, as there are many places nearby to eat very well. The hotel parking is cheaper than the opposite, and did not announce if there is question. The doors are tiny, so careful with the heads.

Hotel near the old town of the city at a good price. Highly recommended.

A hotel of a lifetime with a high need of reform. The best thing is its central location and handy to all. The rooms are small and with carpet. There is a smell of tobacco permeated that makes it not at all pleasant to be in the room. The bathrooms are renovated very well. The room is susceptible of improvements.

We stayed only one night at the end of the road. Just in front of the bus stop that takes you to the airport. We were lucky that gave us a room overlooking the square. Spent enough heat in the rooms by the day. The free Wi-Fi in the rooms was a plus.

People were friendly enough. For me, no air conditioning means that if it gets hot, you must open the window. But, too noisy for a busy street when the window is open.

Price/quality very bad, for the price of one night services and treatment received by staff should be much better. Poorly clean and very small room. Claustrophobic bathroom.

Situated between the shops etc. And the old town and directly opposite a huge public underground car park the Universal is well positioned in the centre of the city. The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast ok (the usual buffet) and the price reasonable. If we return to Santiago (which we probably will, the old town is fantastic) we'd probably try and stay in the old town, but if not we'd have no problem staying here.
