Black Swan Hostel Hostel

Very nice hostel close to Arco de Triunfo, perfectly connected and located in the heart of the city. Amazing an welcoming staff makes the stay a wonderful experience, not to mention the many activites offered to the guests. They even cook on the spot and offer free dinner! I'll come back for sure.

I can definitely say that black swan hostel is one of the best of Barcelona! The staff is super friendly and you can meet a lot people from all over the world, the great thing about this hostel is that they do FREE hostel dinners, cooking lesson of paella, night outs etc! One of my best stays in a hostel I would definitely recommend this place! I hope to be back soon!

By far my favorite hostel I’ve stayed in. The staff is amazing and we’re a lot of fun to hang out with. Oscar makes great food so tip him well and enjoy the delicious food! I loved the curtains on the bed for more privacy and the showers were nice and clean and plenty of hot water. It get like home for sure! I enjoyed the location as well very close to the Arc de triumph. 10/10 for me especially for the price!

Black Swan Hostel in Barcelona is simply awesome! I loved my stay there and so you will if you chose to go there. You can’t miss it. Staff there is so nice and helpful! I stayed in a 14 beds dorm room. The room was big enough. One great thing is that there are curtains on each bed so you can have privacy. There is also a light and an electric plus near each bed. The hostel is very clean. The best thing is that they organize activities every day and every night! You’ll meet… Bobby who cooks delicious paellas every week. He’s such a nice guy and so passionnated! Don’t miss the pub crawl! You’ll have so much fun there especially if you’ll be guided by Hector, the Mexican guy :) he’s super nice and thanks to him you’ll have a great night! Hector is very fun, kind and he’s always smiling. Great moments spent with him! The location of the hostel is great, close to Arc Triomf.

Stayed in plenty of hostels in Australia and this is the best hostel I’ve stayed in! The dorms are super cool with curtains for your own privacy, power points and individual lights! The comfiest beds! The staff were very friendly and helpful, also plenty of activities to sign up to. I did the Gaudí free walking tour and absolutely love it! Would highly recommend this hostel.

Great staff with knowledge of the area accompanied with a positive attitude. Atmosphere in the lounge and kitchen are welcoming and joyous. Very clean hostel, including rooms (which have air conditioning, that isn't too loud), toilets and showers. It is pricey compared to surrounding hostels, well worth the extra money though with free food nights, walking tours and pub crawls!

It was pretty good. Decent pub crawl, nice facilities. The staff could have been a bit more helpful at some points but most of them were very nice. Definitely a party hostel, dont expect total quiet til maybe 4 or 5 am.

Great hostel! Pricey, but that's brought in by the Barcelona hostel cartel. We did the Paella Class, which we recommend, as well as the city tours, which are also great. Black swan is missing a backpacker vibe. No communal dinners other than the Paella Event, and generally going more for bar hopping and night life. As a result, your roommates may come in late and drunk, but you may have better luck than we did.

Black Swan is the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at by far. Not only is a clean, comfortable place to stay, you leave feeling like you have a family there. The activities they offer are amazing (especially the pub crawls) and allow you to meet some really awesome travelers. The staff is so knowledgeable about Barcelona and do everything they can to make sure you have a great experience in the city. Special shout out to Pablo for making sure we got home safely every night! Love Black Swan, highly recommended!

I stayed here for less than 24 hours but even so, I made so many memories. Be encouraged to sign up for the available activities: 8pm (free) dinner in the communal kitchen, 9pm trip to see a flamenco show (if you are lucky you will get Eva as your guide), 10:30pm pub crawl with this super cool argentenian dude (sorry man I forgot your name). There's free breakfast (coffee, tea, cereal) for when you wake up. You can store your stuff in the luggage room if you've checked out but still want to walk around.

Bathrooms are not comfortable to use (way too far from rooms), rooms were way too small and hot, lockers were loud, you couldn’t drink at the hostel until late and location is nothing special… Overall, just NOT a nice, relaxed hostel you would like to stay in.

I am more than impressed with how friendly the staff is. Iva, Francesco (both of em) were super kind. Iva helped me plan my trip to Berlin just because she lived there for a long time, she definitely didn’t have to, but she did (her outgoing attitude is quite impressive too). Though the toilets (WCs) can be remodelled since it is extremely difficult to breathe in there, the hostel overall is a great one. They do whatever they can to bring everyone together. Everything other than the infrastructure is super awesome. I would definitely stay there again. If you are a solo traveller, wanting to meet people, I would suggest you opt for this one without a second thought :)

Black Swan delivers. All the staff including Pepe, Guillermo, Felipe and the 2 girls at the front desk were super helpful and answered all my questions. No issues with my room at all. They have daily activities in which you can take part in which is really cool.

Simple place. Comfy beds. Good cleaning. Very good disposition in everything. They arm activities every day. I totally recommend it.

I think its the best hostel I stayed in so far! The staff is just adorable! Lots of fun activties : paella preparation class, flamengo show, salsa class, free dinners. Jenga games (dont play with Matya, he will ruin ur faith) everyday a pub crawl andde free entrances to, the clubs I thank evey one of u guys for the amazing week, especially @el batu kir and Guillaume (sorry, no idea how we write ur name) Id be more than happy to stay there again! Hasta pronto :)

This place is clean and comfortable. The staff is lovely and the planned events are nice. The showers are on a different floor from the rooms and use a push button system. The common areas and kitchen are compact and the space isn't used particularly well, making conversation awkward. All and all though, I would stay at the Black Swan Hostel again!

Great location, atmosphere, security (lockers included) and comfort. The only complaint I have is the lack of charging ports near the beds. It made things a little difficult.

Great place. Hostel was amazing, service great. Would recommend. Only thing I would recommend is curtains for the shared bunks.

This type of hostel definitely lends more to a younger crowd interesting in socializing and taking part in organized events like paella nights and Italian cooking night. The staff was half and half super friendly and knowledgeable or just collecting paychecks and barely acknowledging your existence. The bathrooms were decent, showers were clean and spacious. The kitchen area is very well stocked and the lounge are is cozy for relaxing Solo or for mingling. The rooms are pretty cramped. The bunk beds are practically stacked next to each other with some bunk mates feet just inches away from your face. They should enforce stricter house rules as well. Sharing a room with 6-10+ ppl is already a feat especially when your bunk mates are impolitely chattering or franically ziping their bags while they clearly see multiple people sleeping, a little courtesy goes a long way. Many bunk mates also leave the main door open frequently so you get all the hallway and bathroom noises. Just be aware and ask for ear plugs.

Very happy with this hostel, offered free breakfast, and free walking tours as well as pub crawls which were awesome. Rooms and facilities were always clean and staff very helpful. Very cheap as well. No complaints at all.

Young team, Pubcrawl is a very hot alternative if you want to spontaneously experience the nightlife of Barcelona with free club entry and free shots. There are young people from all over the world. However, sleep and volume may interfere with one or the other's comfort.

Black Swan Hostel is in a great location near the Arc de Triumphe. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and any problems were quickly resolved. The beds (in a six person room) are a bit crowded but very comfortable if you were to share it with people you know. The toilets and showers are seperate and are communal styled. The locks in the individual stalls and showers were sometimes broken (unsure of this is fixed yet). On the whole, a great hostel experience with amazing service and clean and comfortable accomadations.

Good hostel for meeting people, spacious hangout areas, pub crawl, walking tours, dinner, etc. Also rooms have AC which is awesome.

Really friendly staff and there were events happening on a daily basis. Location is in the centre of the city so everything was easily accessible. Unfortunately the air conditioning was not working on one of the nights which was the only downside.

Great hostel, this is probably one of the nicest ones I've stayed at by far. Free breakfast is good, it's basic but that's all you need. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The pub crawls I recommend, it's the best way to met people and have good safe fun in the evening. They also offer Pallea which is delicious and very worth it! Rooms are clean and have beautiful windows. Bathrooms can be interesting as you do have to leave your room to get to them but it's not horrible as they are pretty central. Lastly, they have some great walking tours available! If you have the time then do them! Would definitely stay here again!

Easily the best hostel I've been in hands down! Such a great atmosphere and always something to be doing. Free pub/club outings every evening was definitely one of the highlights of my stay. The place is probably cleaner than your own home too. I arrived at another hostel today and I already miss black Swan! So I have booked to go back again soon!

The staff really make it. A team of enthusiastic hosts willing to go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Feels more like you're staying at a mate's house than a hostel or hotel. Special shout out to Dan from Bristol who was the first guy I met at the hostel on Wednesday and gave me the tour. Facilities, well I guess exactly what you'd expect at a hostel, except for one deciding factor. Cleanliness. This place is cleaner than your house, guaranteed. These guys know what it's like to stay at a shit hostel, and do everything in their power, successfully I might add, to make sure you have a safe chill place to stay with your new found friends. The only negative I can state is the surrounding area which doesn't feel very safe. Have your wits about you and leave anything valuable at home. I took to keeping my euros in a folded up tube map, something I recommend over a conventional wallet. I'm jaded, I admit, since I was robbed of €20 on the first night at 4am in a nearby park, and it's a real testament to these guy's hard work that I didn't turn round and head on to the next place at that point. If it was a lesser place with straight laced robot staff just reluctantly handing you a room key with a sigh then maybe I wouldn't have seen it through, but I'm glad I did. Oh and who can resist free meals and delicious paella almost daily. Free pub crawl gets you shots and Jaeger bombs too, so what's not to like?

I got in late last night front desk lady was nice. Walked me through everything. The beds are nice I'm 6'4" and they are long enough. All bedding was sealed in a bag so you know it's clean. Showers look good and looking forward to breakfast next. The showers were so good. Clean and lots of water pressure. Kitchen is professional quality the food was basic but good. I had two helpings of cold oats. All and all five stars. If I owned a hostel I would want it to be this place.

Best hostel I've been by far, and I tried a lot in different countries. Friendly employees, free breakfast, free supper depending on the day, a great socialising place, need from everything, a pubcrawl every night, two walking tour every night, the rooms are clean, the showers are clean, free access to computers (good computers), etc. Highly recommend.

Good value for money, party atmosphere, not great for travellers after a quiet place to spend the night.

I was with my sister during the summer holidays there. We both were endlessly enthusiastic. The staff is super friendly and open, and there were every day actions offered in which one could participate. Super highly recommended!

I love this place! It feels like home. It is super clean; the beds are very comfortable; and every night they have some activity going on, whether it be a flamenco show, or paella night. I have stayed at this place a number of times, and I always refer my friends here. Overall, you will never want to leave.

This is very much a party hostel. There are events and fun activities every night that you can join in on — sometimes for free, but usually for an extra cost. The rooms are nice but a bit crowded. The only place to charge your phone and other electronics is inside your locker… so that was a little annoying. The showers are also only on the first floor, so if you're staying on the second floor like we were, expect to have to carry all of your belongings into the cramped and humid shower area and then back up to your room. There are also no bathrooms in your actual room, which we found to be very strange. Other than that, super friendly and helpful staff — everyone was incredibly nice. The location is pretty good as well, although it's more like a 25-30 minute walk to the beach, not 15-20 minutes like advertised.

Nice hostel from the socializing perspective. You meet new people from different countries (this is where the 2 stars originate). But not suitable from the comfort perspective. Rooms are very small for the number of people they host. The beds are small and there is almost no space to move around (6 beds in ~12m^2). And you should be very careful to lock your stuff in the locker, even the smallest things. I 'lost' my bag of bathroom stuff (perfume, toothbrush, etc) after I was back in the evening.
