My daughters & I were gifted a wonderful high tea at your 5 star hotel on Friday 1st April. It was a truly special afternoon spent in a luxurious setting. The savoury treats were exquisite. The sweet desserts were incredible. I personally would have loved to sample more of the savoury ones. We had champagne with the savoury & the most divine black teas were served with the desserts. I would highly recommend an experience like the one that we had. A lasting memory I will cherish.

I love the hospitality and the kind stuff I came across saxon hotel made my birthday very special lovely food and the spa treatment was the best… Hotel views at night totally out of this world most of all the safety is the highest priority.

This is a very upmarket, secluded hotel offering patrons exclusivity and privacy. Here patrons are ushered with various Mercedes Benz C classes from parking to reception. The staff is so alert and very helpful. You get a sense that they are highly trained in customer satisfaction which bears testimony in their knowledge of food and winery. One of the striking features you will notice is their high walls, tall doors and windows. It is majestic and makes one feel like they are in the presence of greatness. The hotel offers conferences among overnight stays and other such like offerings. A 200g steak will set you back R320 in their restaurant. This is expected especially with the high end clientele it bolsters.

Terrible experience. We were in a room in one of the our buildings next to a party and were unable to get any sleep. Every time we would go to sleep there would be more loud noises. There are NO carpets in the stone hallways and people were walking loudly in heels all night long! There were no apologies from the hotel and no compensations offered. When you pay this much to stay in a hotel, the least you should be able to expect is quiet.

The most beautiful south African hotel. Loved the service from the shuttle driver to the receptionist and the waiters. Amazing.

Exceptional service and great food. The Saxon is a truly world class establishment. Every time I go there for a leisurely breakfast they never fail to amaze. As I live in Johannesburg I have never had reason to stay there overnight but based on my experiences there I would highly recommend it. The buildings are exquisite and the gardens are green, lush and immaculately maintained. A true oasis in the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg.

Well; they sure know how to pick their staff. The waiters were so gorgeous and friendly! OMG. I really enjoyed the experience there and I would do it again and again. Very affordable and the hospitality is 7 star.

Spent 3 hours at the spa. Lovely 5 star ambience and decor. Paid R1100 for a massage. Hope the oil had gold flakes my facial was nothing spectacular for the price. Ordered a salad which cost R210 with lots roast tomato and 2 pieces halloumi. I expected more for the price spent When you spend so much extra. You should get so much extra.

Wonderful, fine-dining VegVegan menu at Qunu. The menu is filled with beautiful dishes made with fresh ingredients from the garden. The atmosphere and service is great and the food is absolutely mouth-watering! There is also several amazing vegan wines on the menu.

Very swanky hotel in Sandhurst. Very close to Sandton and the business centre of Johannesburg. The hotel is stunning and you get treated like royalty for your stay. The spa Is also great. Sundowner Cocktails on the veranda overlooking the infinity pools are a must. The roof is movable and the open it in the evening so you can see the stars.

Attended an evening function at the Saxon. From the staff at the entrance, to management, waiters etc. They were all very friendly and helpful. Wonderful attention to detail. Great red wine accompanied by excellent canapés. It was a good night out, even though some work needed to be done.

Top of the range hotel. You're fetched with latest Benz from parking to hotel entrance. Great and friendly staff.

The place is just amazing with a personal history and a famous history. The hotel is beautiful decorated with African theme. The hotel have two restaurants which you can choose between a la carte or a set menu. The hotel also have a newly refurbished spa that does all sort of treatments. Most of all, it is situated in a busy area but you don't feel like you are.

Absolutely amazing experience. We did the Spa and left floating in the air from sheer exhilaration and pleasure.

Service was out of this world. Being chauffeured to and from my car was great, then they opened the door to my car I felt that this was over the top service. Really left a lasting impression. This is one place I would take special people with, all the time!

Cool calm and collected. The waiters and the sommelier was an added bonus. The team spirit in this place can be felt and the genuine connection they all have is incredible. Thank you for the culinary journey. We were on cloud nine ♡

It has a calming effect, people are respected beyond of who they are. One feels honoured from the time they get out of their cars. The smile and respect the employees show has an electrical effect and makes one to come back.

Stunning luxury! The rooms alone are incredible. It's an absolute retreat for relaxation. Everything is meticulously put together for the upmost comfort.

Excellent service not badly priced for a top notch dining. They let you know if very expensive items with sq ie beluga for 6500 Rands as a starter. The rest are well priced.

I booked the hightea for a friends birthday — I was dissapointed that there is a set menu, for the price paid I expected a buffet or a wider selection of meal options. The staff were not attentive and we had to constantly ask for warm milk, butter and hot tea. Cold tea was brought to the table on two occasions. I don't mind the price however I have had afternoon hightea at many high end venues in South Africa and this has been the worst.
Due to the nature of the occasion I chose not to address the issue and dampen the mood.

The best spa I have ever been to, definitely 5 star treatment. Ask for room "Eden" when booking your massage. Starts off by dressing yourself with a luxurious velvet gown and towel slippers whilst leaving your clothing and belongings in your assigned locker which is digitally locked with a safe, you will be given an access key card for it. You will then be directed to a salt bath under an arch of that which looks like it was themed after Greece mykonos. You will then wash off and relax in a jacuzzi whilst you get served cappuccinos… thereafter you will experience the one of a kind rasul bath which can be described as a "rain room"

Saxon catered our woman's Day lunch and it was gorgeous. The service was impeccable, the food was 5star at its best and the venue was beautifully decorated. It was really special and we hope to return again.

A faultless and beautiful stay at the Villas for our anniversary. Loved the rooms and personalised attention: Anura brut on ice, hand written card from George Cohen, complimentary bar, butler, clothes pressing, strawberry nougat, turndown with bath candles and chocolate shortbread and of course the INCREDIBLE staff.
The Luke Dale Roberts restaurant though, was the highlight. We spent an anniversary at the Saxon 3 years ago and dined on a forgettable meal at 500 and this experience was just leaps ahead. The chefs (far fewer), waiters, Sommelier, hostess and manager were much happier, friendlier and the food served was signature LDR on a plate-totally on par with his Cape Town establishments. My booking was as a result of 2 lovely mornings spent with my sister at the new spa and we could also not fault a thing. The Saxon is a reason not to leave Johannesburg for special occasions.

One of the finest boutique hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg, immaculate garden, lots of trees gives a feels of being away from the hustle and bustle of the city, ample parking, good food / cuisine though inconsistent at times, in fact too often, depending which chefs are on duty! Extensive wine offerings, however expect to pay a premium compare to similar establishments close by, in another word not competitive pricinga, attentive service, beautiful settings overall.

To be honest I probably expected more from the facilities based on the hype, found the restrooms cramped. Everything else was fantastic but it was spoiled by an awful spa meal that comes at a huge cost. If I am paying close to R300 for a small stir fry then I expect perfection. I ordered the lemon sesame chicken with asparagus etc. I tasted no lemon… over powering soya sauce was the only flavour I got… extremely salty and the rice arrived a few min after I got the stir fry. I did not want to make a scene as it was a special occasion with a friend. I told the waitress twice to let the chef know how disappointed I was and she said she would. Anyway that meal made the experience underwhelming!

The Saxon is a beautiful and peaceful hotel near the central district of Sandton. It is a great jumping off place for the bush or simply a peaceful vacation stop with delicious restaurants, impeccable service, and lovely grounds. I would recommend staying here to anyone.

An amazing hotel that was a private home! It has two pools a gymnasium and spa. All rooms are suited and beautifully appointed. Incredibly tight security. Certainly worth a visit if only For a meal.

Had an awesome 50th birthday celebration for Sybil. The food was devine. The hospitality team was amazing, Marco and the rest of the team thank you for the excellent service it added to the finesse of an unforgettable party.

I love the food here. Great wine selection. Friendly staff. I used to ask for the chocolate balls which aren't on the menu and they would give them to me. I love 500.

The Spa is amazing as is the Terrace with views of the pool and garden Luke Dale Roberts from the Test Kitchen SA's famous chef is opening his restaurant there in May.

Luke dale Roberts @the Sacon 500 — was simply awesome. Did the tea pairing and hubby did the wine pairing. Had the chefs table in the wine cellar — was really cool. Loved the ambience and the foos.

Superb service. One of the best hotels in Johannesburg, if not the best. Set in beautiful gardens and close to Sandton shops and businesses.

Certainly one of the most memorable and enjoyable dining experiences I've had. The atmosphere, food, wine and service were of the highest order. I would fully recommend this to all the food and wine lovers out there.

What a total waste of our time going to this so called Leading Hotel of The World. We decided to go for the weekend just for a romantic weekend. When we arrived there they had no idea of any of our SPA booking even though we had a printed out as proof from our online booking. They then said they could try and help us with massages only (it was supposed to be full day spa package) and even that will be 3 hours apart. Obviously we did not take it as it will mean we will spend less time together which is what the weekend was all about. Then we wanted to book into the restaurant and once again NO SPACE! We end up having to go to Sandton shopping mall for a meal and entertainment and eventually decided to check out a few hours later. The manager contact us and said he will make up to us, that was 4 months ago. Don't waste your time. It is an over rated hotel and the service is WAY below par. Not sure who they had to pay to get onto the LHW website but it sure as hell was not based on the actual hotel or customer service. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME or money going here!

Can I please understand why it is that I made a reservation at 1pm this afternoon though when I call back at 4pm the lady that works at the restaurant and booking tells me that I had never made a reservation and that they have no knowledge of by booking! furthermore that they restaurants are fully booked and I know cant make a reservation.

Magnifique! Unique! The best of Joburg.

Went to five hundred and it was magnificent! I actually forgot that I was in Jhb. Great food and enjoyed the experience. Totally recommend it. Had lunch at Qunu, I paid R145 for a burger but it was so worth it! That mushroom sauce was divine. Burger made to perfection. High tea was my least favorite. Didn't enjoy it and I thought it was over priced. Our waiter was very slow and delayed. The selection wasn't to my liking, I enjoyed like 4 desserts. I only had 1 type of tea which took awhile to finish as the waiter had given me so much, I would prefer small tea pots instead of the regular size so we can try a variety. For that price we needed a variety. They need to work on the experience of high tea or did I just go on the wrong day.

Possibly the best hotel room we've ever stayed in. Beautiful location, situated in a hilly upscale neighborhood in Sandton. The pool area is a great place to have a drink and watch the suneset. The restaurant's breakfast and dinner were memorable with great meat dishes.

Wow, one of my most memorable dining experiences! For a special occasion, book the chef's table which is a glass room located in the kitchen. You will experience a nine course meal (explained by the cheff) with a wine pairing (also explained by a highly trained expert). Each portion is small but believe me, after 9 courses you will be satisfied. The flavour combinations of each meal is out of this world.

Great place for lunch, dinner, workshops, etc. Really enjoyed it, many times.
