The food and atmosphere is great.

Everything is always delicious and I love the atmosphere.

Great! Ambiance, staff, chef. One of those places that ya just don’t get it, the package, until you step inside.
Then? You don’t want to leave (or in our case, come back again and again)

Everything about El Blok is wonderful from Angel making amazing drinks. Overall atmosphere, tasty food, exceptional service. We love it.

Amazing dining. We went right after getting engaged and they were so accommodating. They allowed our engagement planner to leave flowers and have champagne ready for our arrival. The El Dorado was delicious and the churros a must-have. Definitely make a stop here.

Nice rooftop bar atmosphere. There's a small pool and some hammocks. Ocean view is a bonus.

Many of these places come down to who the staff is. Lacy and the two other ladies with the same name were and are a reason to come back yearly. The roof pool wasn't too bad either.

Run they are thief’s. I rebooked this hotel because I saw a cheaper price. After I rebooked it a week later I still didn’t receive my refund. They never gave my money back. I was charged $225 for nothing and my new book. Run will steal your money.

Modern design!, I did not expected such a great experience on this small island. The room is full of design furnitures. Beautiful light effect in the morning when you wake up. Super comfortable linens. Branded shamboo and conditioner. They are much better than those 5 star hotels. The only downside is that part of the building is still renovating because of the harricane. Definately will recommend friends and families.

Very beautiful hotel. However it is still going through reconstruction. The hotel is very friendly and the rooms are very clean. Great location!

I was here on my 2nd PR Disaster Relief trip in October 2017. This place is a fortress! A large group of us stayed here when most places didn’t have power or resources to open. The first thing that will strike you it’s it’s amazing architecture. It’s all beautiful exposed concrete and designed in such a way to take advantage of natural air currents and natural sunlight to light up the place. The on top of the pie was that they have a kitchen and offer dinner! And trust me, it was delicious! Staff was amazing and very flexible with all of us. I will most certainly be back.

We originally booked to stay at El Blok in June and post Maria were unsure if we should still travel. Having managed to contact Laine, we decided to still travel to Vieques — and were so glad that we did. Laine, Yary and the team at El Blok are an exceptional group of people and have clearly been a cornerstone for the local community and those volunteers who have travelled to Vieques to help figure out the endless issues facing the island. Vieques is a truly special, rare isl…and and El Blok is a very special hotel. Vieques has been battered and bruised but the overwelming response we had from everyone we talked to is “we need people to come and visit”. I hope we get to visit the island again very soon.

I visited Vieques island two months after hurricane Maria. The hotel was recovering from the destruction of the hurricane so at the time we couldn't find a room. The people there were friendly and helpful. The hotel is one of the few places that has an ATM machine and it was installed after the hurricane to help relieve the difficulties of the new cash economy situation. The hotel is elegant and located right on the beach next to good bars and restaurants and tourist attractions. You can have a great time without walking much at all. My short experience tells me that the next time I go to Vieques I will definitely try to make reservations at this hotel.

Interesting architecture and layout. Nice rooms with AC. Consistent pleasant continental breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff. Great rooftop lounge/bar with stunning 360 views of the island.

Love the architecture of the place and the decor as well. Luckily we got upgraded from a standard room to a suite because the a/c was not working properly and we were pleasantly surprised. Friendly and accommodating staff have made our first day here a joy. Good food and drinks at the hotel restaurant but also walking distance to some of the islands best restaurants. Rooftop has bar and small tub pool with spectacular views of the island.

Just went to visit, very interesting architect from the outside. The lobby is on the second floor & the elevator was out of service, had to walk up the stair. The girl in the lobby who was very nice, told us we could use the pool if we liked the only problem was it was on the top floor & I didn't want to walk up stairs, since the pool is on the top floor. She also told us she couldn't show us the room because the hotel was sold out. When I was making reservations The blok Hotel was my first choice, my second choice was The Blue Horizon Boutique Resort, I was glad I stayed there instead. I loved it!

We had some serious issues with (delayed) service; way beyond just standard 'island time' stuff you find everywhere in the Caribbean. The food and drinks are very good.

A unique experience, a spectacular place! Excellent service. We were given an upgrade to one of the most beautiful rooms that the hotel has, without us asking for anything and at no additional cost. I recommend it 100%.

We didn't stay here but did have a drink one night at the rooftop bar to watch the sunset. It's a great view of the island! Staff was friendly and the drinks were tasty!

The hotel's public spaces are nice and the design from the outside is really cool. The view from the terrace is beautiful. There's a rooftop bar, lounge areas and a pool. It would be a good place to stop by but we also stayed at the hotel for two nights. The rooms were good but the noise level was just too much. The way the hotel is designed, the hotel rooms curve around the center of the building, and so whenever somebody opens and closes a door, you can hear it in your room. The doors don't have a soft close, and so you really have to pull/push the door to shut it. Our main concern with this place was the noise when we were trying to sleep.

Would highly recommend this place! The views from the roof top bar were awesome. Food and drinks were great. Staff very nice. Very cool place!

Very modern place with a Miami feel. Seems a little out of place for the area… not sure how the rooms are but roof top bar is an excellent location to watch sunset. Drinks are not cheap. I was told it is a very environment friendly spot. Using their a/c to heat water along with other environmental friendly elements.

Best hotel in the island by far. Located in the best location of the island to visit with amazing views. The staff all are very welcoming and the security of the property is a plus. Never skip the sunsets from the rooftop. The beach front is nothing less than spectacular. (coming from a native born Puertorican this is by far my favorite location)

My wife, Father in law and mother law dined at El Blok several times on our vacation to Vieques and each meal was better than the last. The staff is very friendly and the food was always fantastic. Best coffee on the island too.

Had drinks on the sunset bar (must see this view). Andy was the bartender and he was great to talk to. He also knows how to mix some very nice drinks. Don't miss this.

Service felt aloof. Hotel itself is modern and beautiful. Breakfast was just blah. Location near the beach was great though. Got some snorkeling in at the nearby pier. The rooftop bar had the best view in town! Best moment was finding the coqui frog at their roof top bar at night. The bar was closed at the time, and the frog was hiding in the landscaping.

We were really excited to visit this restaurant. It is part of the reason that we decided to go to Vieques on our most recent trip to Puerto Rico. We made a reservation well in advancebut didn't really need it. The restaurant was empty when we got there around 6:30. We ordered drinks, A cinnamon rum concoction and a gin citrus delight. Both were great, especially the gin. We had a nice time talking to the waiter who was very attentive and ended up ordering the ceviche and another fish appetizer. The Ceviche was out of this world. To tell you the truth it completely spoiled us. We have since ordered it again at other restaurants and none come close to the way they prepare it at El Blok. It was so packed full of flavor that we saved the plate of juice once we were done and ordered arepas to sop it up. It would have been sacrilegious to let any of it go. The lobster with a polenta cake was our main dish. Man was it good. Perfect amount of seasoning and a delicious herbal butter sauce to dip it in. By this point the restaurant was almost full and buzzing with activity. We ordered another round of drinks and got to hear about their desserts. The Mesquite brownie was what caught our eye. Holy makerel was it fantastic! We devoured it before we could even take a picture. All we have is a photo of the empty bowl with two spoons. Enough said. Taking a trip into this unique building for a meal is well worth the time and money.

The worse experience I ever had. I've been waiting for a nice romantic get away with my husband for ever. I got there and we reserved one night and we were supposed to pay the rest of the trip when we got there. We don't speak english (my sister is traducing this). The girl at the counter swipe the card and I guess it was blocked (although I called the bank before and make sure it was going to work). After several swipes of card and us not understanding at each other she got aggravated and didn't want to help, treating us poorly, yelling at us and I got really embarrassed. (I'm talking about a long conversation, her making ugly faces of discomfort, people at the line looking at us, people from the bar looking at us) Then she called a person to translate the conversation. He explain to her that I didn't like the way she was talking to us, so she changed her tone in a a nice-sarcastic way (is this better) and I just got really mad. (It took me a while to get mad because I was confused and reacted late to her being mean to us) I told them that I didn't want to stay there (more than $200 a night you expect good service). But she was so rude saying that we had to pay for all the days that we reserve anyway… Oh, and I I had a night paid, but if I didn't paid the $700 of the rest of the trip I couldn't even stayed there. Do I really have to pay to get mistreated? Why didn't she called me on the side and helped me called the bank to have a solution?

This is an incredible hotel. We have visited the hotel for New Years two years in a row and it is a completely magical place. The staff is warm and knowledgable — they go out of the way to make sure you are at home. Simon, Lanie, Yari, and Orlando work very hard to make this GEM unbelievable. This place should be a "Must do" and your list if you are looking for an authentic experience that will leave you relaxed, refreshed, and longing for the moment you can return. We stayed 3 nights at El Blok, with an ocean view room. It was very clean with nice shower and bathroom. The bed was comfortable and large. The hotel is small. The service is friendly and personal. The breakfast was good — largely because of the incredible hotel's own granola which is the best in the world. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There is a private monitored parking lot. A beach is directly across the street. I will write a separate review of the restaurant, which I would not call vegetarian friendly at this time. Overall, a very nice place to stay for a more personal and memorable experience than the high end W Hotel, with a price between cheaper properties and the W.
