JDL Residences - Hostel

Nice hostel close to the city centre of Legazpi and the beautiful Mayon volcano. There’s a terrace on the hostel‘s roof which offers an amazing view of the volcano! Stuff was nice too. Wi-Fi was sometimes a bit slow, but you don’t go there for the Wi-Fi anyway ;) can recommend a stay there!

I stayed here for 3 nights and I'll stay there again if I visit Bicol again. I can see the volcano on the rooftop, especially the sunset's view there is amazing. What I love most is there aircon 😆, They don't use the old type of aircon that you see at other hotels (which is very noisy). The rooms and shared badrooms are super clean. The host were super friendly and helpful. I don't see any reasons not to comeback.

You being adversarial and defensive means you don't accept honest criticisms from potential visitors.
Did your CCTV also showed how your staff almost refused to let one of our senior family members use your bathroom?
You might want to look up what courtesy and customer service means. It is no wonder that one the reviews you got indicated poor service, misleading info and bad overall customer experience.
I booked a dorm-type room for 4 persons and 2 children. Booking online was a breeze.
However, we were quite surprised that the staff refused to show us the room, telling us that it is company policy and that we should pay first.
We also do not appreciate the condescending manner the employee displayed while saying 'Magbayad muna kayo, bago tignan ang kwarto. ' We travelled 16 hours and this is what greeted us.
We immediately left and looked for another hotel elsewhere.

The location is 3-5 min away from SM Legazpi. It is accessible to all locations. What really made my stay here memorable is the view of the Mayon from the rooftop. I will wake up at 5am and go immediately upstairs to have my coffee and just stare at the Mayon for about an hour or two. Ms. Summer is very accommodating and and the staff can easily be found if you need anything. I plan to go back again on June this year.

If I go back to Legazpi I would definitely stay at JDL Residences again!

It was a pleasant stay in JDL. Summer and her daughters were truly a gem, very hospitable, warm-hearted, helpful and sweeeet! And the room was clean and tidy. The environment was peaceful, and the location was good to explore around on foot. If you want to feel the homelike atmosphere, this is the place that you can’t miss in Legazpi.

Rooms are clean. Bathrooms and Comfort rooms are common, no privacy. Care taker is constantly roaming around checking, talking which is kinda annoying. To put it into perspective, good value for money, comfortable but no privacy.

A nice clean and peaceful property. But what makes it great is the hostess who is so friendly and helpful and will make your stay extra special.

(+) 1 km walk from SM City Legaspi, fare is only 20 pesos if you are taking tricy ride. The bed with folded towel and blanket, pillows are ready for you. The kind of bed you wanna come home to after a long and tiring day. Free drinking water. Liquid soap in the shower. Tissue in the toilet. An unobstructed view of Mayon Volcano at the roof deck. Locker for each bed. Seggregated garbage cans. All of these for a cheap price. Safe place. They have to open the gate for you before you can come in.
(-) an inconsiderate neighbor playing table tennis at 4 am. Which is not JDL's fault.

Rooms are clean, the air conditioning unit is quiet and fully functional, and has a roof deck which is great especially with the Majestic Mayon and city-wide views. Feels safe because gates are opened from the staff inside who are always responsive to needs. Comfort rooms are well-maintained which is checked frequently. Absolutely will recommend to people I know to stay here whether solo or in group.

A superb hotel/hostel. Spotlessly clean, great Wi-Fi, comfortable beds and the rooftop has an incredible view of Mayon volcano. JDL is run by the nicest family. Summer is really knowledgeable about the area and willing to help you with tours, transport, renting a scooter etc. Highly recommend staying here when in Legazpi.

We had a great time here even for just 1 night! Roof deck has awesome view of Mayon and can eat here too! Id liked also the idea of having a clean common CR/showers for the guests every floor!

I enjoyed my stay and I’m impressed with the hospitality and kindness the owner had shown me. Mabait at very approachable si Ate Summer, she even helped me find and book a tourist guide during the whole duration of my stay.
The facility is clean, safe, and quiet. Really conducive for rest and sleep. Very accessible to most of the tourist spots and practically near the city.
Lastly, the best part of the lodge is the ROOF DECK, where you can have the finest view of the city and of course the MT. Mayon. Very selfie and groupie worthy.

Kuya Jomar and his brother who also works there clean the shared bathroom I believe more than twice a day. Whenever a new guest would check-in, they would tidy up the room as well.

Ms. Shine, the owner, answered all my questions. May it be about the automatic air freshener that is installed in each room (makes the room smell so nice), or about where to rent a motorbike, she answers as soon as she can. She even goes the extra mile to tell you how much the fare going there would cost etc. I learned Kuya Mar even went with a guest to Cagsawa Ruins because the guest was afraid he might get lost.

SM Legazpi is like a 10 minute walk from the place. The most common mode of transpo in Legazpi is tricycle so you can easily get on one and pay 30 (per ride) if you’re feeling tired.

Is great. Stayed here for 7 nights, and I work remotely so I was able to utilize their Wi-Fi.
Probably some cons for some but not for me:
-Shared dormitory rooms are located in the third floor.
-The shared kitchen had a water kettle/heater but it was taken away like 3 days I think before I checked out, you can still get hot water through the water dispenser (this had an issue as well) though. No toaster or way for you to heat up your food. But they have a fridge!
-No hot showers.
Overall, I’m really glad I stayed here.
