Kantaya Hostel

Really good hostel, fair price for the quality. Staff was reeeally nice, breakfast good and the location superb. The rooms were a bit smelly (because no windows) but it was ok. Definitively good for small budget travellers :)

I'm sure plenty of people have a good experience here but I think you can do better for your money.
I booked a private room. Very basic, no towel, cold and noisy. I could cope with that but the wall on to the corridor was all opaque glass with no curtains, and in the hallway there was motion activated light.
This meant that my room lit up all night as other people walked up and down and the room didn't feel very private.
Also I paid for more than 1 night (but less than 2 nights) and when I decided shortly afterwards I was only going to stay 1 night, was told it was impossible to receive my change. So I overpaid.
People were friendly but it was just kinda shabby and not that comfortable.
I also don't really like the fact that it seems to have 3 different names and multiple listings on hostelworld. Just a bit confusing and seems sketchy.

I did not stay at Kantaya Hostel because I was only in Puno for the day. However, I wanted to write this review because the staff were really friendly and helped me greatly in booking activities to do in Puno. I arrived in the morning and immediately they helped me to book a kayak tour (highly recommend) and helped me store my belongings for the day.

The staff was good. But for the 3 nights I stayed there the water was freezing cold. And the storage lockers that were provided I could barely fit my laptop by itself into.

Left my headphones here and the staff were able to give them to another traveller heading to Cusco and I got them back! Great service.

I loved my stay here! The hostel is clean and the best are comfy. The staff are really nice and super helpful with giving tips on things to do and helping you organise tours and busses etc. They also have free tea 24/7 which is great, as well as a fully equipped kitchen to cook your own food. The breakfast was so good with pancakes and orange juice etc. Great value too. The only downside is that the beds don’t have privacy curtains.

Super, super nice hostel. Comfy beds. Great breakfast. Very accommodating staff, they've helped us with a lot of things and offered us great solutions. Highly recommended.

Hostel is ok for 1 night, the rooms are dirty, bathroom as well. The service of the personnel is great! The tours booked here are also very good.

The staff made us feel so welcome. 2 very nice ladies at reception who went the extra mile to make our 1 night stay very nice. It was a 25 minute walk from the bus station. The private room was spacious and clean, and the shower was hot.
The reception staff booked our bus to La Paz for us and I highly recommend doing so, as it was half the price of what the bus company quotes online.
The lady also walked to the corner with us at 5am to help hail a cab and communicate to the driver in Spanish on our behalf.
I highly recommend staying here.

A good hostel for a good price. I stayed in the mixed 8 person dorm. No concerns with this hostel, but it didn't wow me. It's simple, with everything you need, is clean, and the staff are friendly. I recommend if you're passing through Puno, can't go wrong. It's a good hostel choice! (Highlight would be the staff helping me plan my Uros/Taquile Kayaking tour. The tour is on the more touristy side and not out of this world, but worth doing if you are there. )

Great hostel. Staff really made the deal. Everyone who works here is so incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good and showers are warm. My friend and I payed 80 sols total for a private room.

The hostel has a good breakfast and decent rooms. I do wish they had curtains on the beds though!
I got sick and the hostel manager was AMAZING and took such good care of me. The people who are at and who run this hostel really make it great.

Had a lovely 2 nights stay in a private room. The hosts were so friendly and helpful, Ive never felt so welcomed. They helped book a day trip of kayaking and tour of the reed islands. Facilities are basic but all that’s needed. Great for the price.

Great place to stay. Not one of those fancy "instagrammable" hostel chains. However, it's quietly located and clean, and the manager is super lovely and helpful. She allowed for an early check-in and gives you honest tips on what is worth visiting and what not. They also offer a basic breakfast with delicious pancakes.

We loved our stay here for two nights. The price is very affordable and the room was clean. We had hot showers and the Wi-Fi is actually pretty good. The best part of the hostel is the staff — particularly sayda. Not only does she know English, she is warm and hospitable and took care of us. The free breakfast was also a surprise — pancakes, bread cheese ham olives banana were all available. They serve it early so that you can have before early tours. I really appreciated this as many other hostels don’t start breakfast until you are already leaving for a tour. Out in the reception area there is 24 hour tea station. We felt safe in the area and it is super conveniently located to the main square. Highly recommend!.
