We stayed one night in a Carpa Room in May 2025. This is a fantastic small tented hotel with beautiful grounds and well-appointed “rooms. ” Although it’s located on the edge of the town of Yanque, it feels remote and peaceful, perched right at the edge of the canyon with stunning views.
I wish we had stayed an extra night to enjoy more excursions and to experience another night’s sleep in the cold, quiet air. This is a base for exploring the valley rather than a full-service resort—its main amenity is a lovely wooden hot tub.
All meals are included. Of the few we had, lunch and breakfast were excellent, though dinner was less impressive.
Note that the altitude is around 12, 000 feet, so if you’re sensitive to high elevation, be sure to pace yourself and adjust your expectations for physical activity.
The staff were warm and accommodating—for example, they brought us coffee to our room early in the morning, which was a thoughtful touch.
I spent only two nights at Puqio but I felt like I could have spent a fortnight there. I was treated like family, fantastic excursions and accommodation that made me feel so cosy. Luz, Marcia and the entire staff do an excellent job of making you feel right at home but with a luxe touch. A truly memorable way to end my trip in Peru.
