We stayed for a few nights at Turtle Beach House in the fall of 2016. A few nights was not nearly long enough! The proprietors were wonderful, friendly, accommodating, and quite knowledgeable about the area. Breakfasts were delicious and a served with great hospitality. The location is quite far from "downtown", and may not be great for all types of travelers, however for us it was perfect. The location is quiet, and tucked into the wonderful forests of Bocas del Toro. This means there are beautiful plants, animals, and birds around. And also a few insects (although we were never bothered by them). Although not close to the town, it is perfectly positioned for those who want to explore the forests and animals of the area. There are miles of hiking trails (that can also be traversed by ATVs for rent). I highly recommend a trip to the "blue lagoon". The beach, although incredibly beautiful, is not great for swimming much of the year. We were lucky enough to be there at a time of year where you could safely swim, however much of the year the surf is too high and the rip tides too strong. All of the locals will happily let you know if it's safe for swimming. Breakfast (as mentioned) is provided, however lunch and dinner has to be sought out at one of the local restaurants. We fell in love with the Hummingbird, so had most of our meals there. Again, the owners/operators were very friendly, which really added to the experience.
