This hotel seems to be popular for conferences and business related activity, but I would not recommend staying as part of a trip. The family room we were provided was very small (I understand size is often limited in some historic hotels), with very limited bathroom space. Any parent of a baby / toddler understands the importance of a good bathroom. Furthermore, our room was directly above the bar / restaurant which was catering for a conference event until late night. To have one of the family rooms directly above this area is really badly thought-through. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere if you are a family with small children visiting Voss.

Excellent service! The first thing I meet is what looks like a fairy tale castle. But it doesn't stop there. Beaity and style keeps going all the way in to the sincere hearts of the staff that makes me feel very welcome, even when I arrived in the middle of the night, tired after hours and hours if driving from a roadtrip through the country that startet 70°N. When you enter this hotel, you will meet elegance and character. It's overall a wonderful place to sleep, eat and stay. Very traditional interior, and yet, very moderne faciliteties. Heart, soul, character and lots of comfort. And if the walks could speak, I'd listen for hours… Since it's from 1864 and even Crown Princess Märta and Crown Princess Olav stayed here in 1932. And Voss is filled with beautiful Norwegian nature right outside the door, and is especially suited for us who are comfortable in the free nature with outdoor activities. I actually had a view directly to the mountains and the see, and yet, one minute to the city of Voss. Definitely recommended. Einfach klasse!

Staff are incredible and the hotel itself is just gorgeous. The view of the lake is stunning as well.

Sorry, but this is just not good enough for the money. I totally respect the historic old building. But still it should not be filthy and dirty! There was mildew and hairs everywhere in the bathroom. And I could hear the person next door on a phone call just like he would be in my own room.

The historic family hotel is almost a platform at the station.
However, the outdoor space is not like the image, had to cross a public road to the lake, the display of antique tableware everywhere shows the intentions of past managers. There is a small staircase set in front of check in counter, is specially set for children, suitable for bringing families to this holiday stop.

Wonderful old hotel with style character and great food. Fantastic lake side setting. Prince of Wales, the Kaiser and Nansen stayed here. Run by the fifth generation of the Fleischers family.

The room smelled of mold and there was even leak from the heater. 1/3 of the floor was wet from the leak. The staff were not helpful. And said that we exaggerated the description. We did not get a new room, but got a motel room if we wanted for the same price. Probably one of my worst experiences of my life. Food was decent.

Came here for lunch as part of an excursion. The most lovely owner, beautiful hotel and accomodating staff. If I could afford to stay here, I would have!

Have had lunch here as part of an MSC trip. We were greeted by the hotel owner in an unkind way by shouting at us to sit down as long as the guests who are in front of us get the food. Later at the buffet, I was told not to take dessert and walk away from the counter. She then gave a rude comment towards non-English speaking guests in our group.
The staff in the restaurant was very friendly, the food tasted very well to me and the hotel building I found very pretty — but the two stars. Unfortunately, the appearance of the hotel owner gave the impression that we were not welcome here and that voted cloudy all lunch and I as a guest would never come back. It is a great pity.

Reception staff very nice. Food good but likes of a bit of taste… mores aroma and spice would be good. Rooms need renovating cheap toilet paper.

Wow what a beautiful old hotel. Full of history and class. Beautiful setting in summer and winter. Food excellent.

Hotel Voss is a historic hotel, very nice venue, located in the mountains close to the Eidsfjord. The rooms are filled with traditional furniture. Beautiful Victorian building on the shore of a lake and next to a train station. Unfortunately their food was very starchy, meat was low quality and overcooked. Food trays which were empty were not refilled. Service not very helpful! Not sure if it was the hotel's fault or the tour company's, who first said we would get a nice lunch, then told us we would get sandwiches and when we questioned the change in offering hurriedly arranged for a buffet lunch. I will give the hotel the benefit of the doubt!

The hotel is very old but that’s the beauty of it. The rooms are nice and clean. The views are stunning and the breakfast is amazing! I loved our stay here.

Beautiful hotel in a lovely place, reached by the mythical train from Flam to Voss. It's worth seeing if you turn that part in Norway.

Very nice Hotel all furnished with ancient furniture, says it is frequented by the Norwegian nobility, with a view in front of the lake.

Arrived to this iconic hotel after an extraordinary day travelling by ferry and bus from Flam. The scenery was spectacular and then the day was completed arriving and staying here. Few stairs to negotiate to our room but great room and then the service at dinner and food matched the day. Next to the railway line for easy travelling to Bergen, some noise overnight but I slept reasonably well. Life was very good on this day and visit Recommended to all.

Old fashion hotel. Beautiful but crowded with groups, nice rooms, nice food and great terrace. A little bit decadent.

Lovingly maintained hotel with modern standard and sophisticated flair of a hotel that is over 100 years old. The view from the restaurant and terrace to the lake is stunning.

Hotel was founded in 1864 at Voss and is mainly of wooden construction. Stopped here on an excursion for lunch. Very clean and staff very courteous. Nice buffet lunch and the view across the lake and to the mountains from the front of the hotel is amazing.

Good level restaurant in Norwegian historical building.

Historic train depot hotel built in 1800s. Our room faced the train tracks which are less than 20m from the hotel. Passenger trains are electric and didn't bother us at all, even with a window open. Freight train was a little louder but I think only one passed while we were there. Nice terrace looking at lake. Restaurant meal was just fine although they were understaffed so they didn't serve in the pub for the a la carte menu.

Attended new years eve party there, very helpful and cherful staff. Not the best menu for drinks but the bartenders helped in any way they could. Also very nice crowd and good dancefloor.

Quite friendly but not professional and unorganised staff. Rooms are alright. Food is pretty good but again, served unprofessionally. Expected more for the price.

The hotel rooms are very old and smelly. However, the cabins are newly remodeled and very clean with amazing views right next to the lake. Wonderful peaceful place.

Nostalgia at its best. Stylish rooms. Super flair. Bathroom old and small, but due to the somewhat dusty charm. Fantastic location. Curious: extra hot tub bubbling.

Overcharged, my reservation was for a cost of ~2500 NOK, was charged to my credit card 3580 NOK. Will not be staying here next year.

Very favorable hotel with its own history.

Located adjacent to the Voss train station, next to the bus station and along the main road. Good restaurant service, good breakfast. Some front-side rooms have an excellent view. Free Internet, but not working OK everywhere.
