Bergen Hostel Montana Hostel

Had a great stay and met lots of friendly people from around the world. Good value for the price, and breakfast was very good. Bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner but that would be the only drawback for me. Reception staff and volunteers were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and will stay here again if I am back in Bergen.

The best hostel I have ever stayed at, very clean, free tours from the hostel, good spread of food in the morning and has a beautiful view of Bergen to watch the sunset. All the volunteers are amazing.

One of best ever hostels. Perfect organized, clean, friendly, great choices at breakfast, we had a double room. The view down to city center breathtaking. Bus every half hour to city center.

Beautiful hostel, quiet, clean. Nice dormitory with only 4 beds, many sanitary facilities available. A little too far from the city centre but easily accessible by public transport. Large open kitchen well equipped with several worktops. I highly recommend!

The location is not in the city center. But this one was cheapest accommodation we found in Bergen. It's full of young backpackers. The room is small but clean. The internet is good. The main kitchen and dining room always full. We used other kitchen in the basement. It's normally empty, but I felt like it's a little spooky (just my imagination, of course)

Location is far from the city center you have to take a bus or a long walk, very close to Ulriken for hikers, stuff are very friendly, I asked to change my room and they kindly changed at the time, some of the 4 bed dorms have a private bathroom and some do not have you ask for those how has its private bath.

Wonderful hostel. The staff was very kind and coordinated me being able to arrive late and be there by myself. It was clean and comfortable. They provide cookies and tea every day at a certain time. If you go out back there is also a very beautiful view of Bergen! It's close to a bus stop as well so you can get into the city center easily. Definitely recommend. Lots of breakfast options as well.

There is a beautiful view over Bergen from the dinning area and especially from just outside the hostel, since the hostel is located halfway up a mountain. Right next to the dinning area, there is a pretty cozy room, where you can go if you just need to chill. (and get some free Wi-Fi) Their three-man rooms of course weren't really amazing, but they were clean and comfortable. I liked it, but obviously don't expect more than a nice hostel. They had normal, okay breakfast and you can buy pizza later.

Great facilities, very clean. Don't be scared of the huge dorms — they're very spacious and we had a great stay in one. The location is great for people who want to hike, as it is right next to my Ulriken, although it is a huge distance from Bergen itself, requiring a bus. Volunteers at the hostel run hikes and activities for free, there's free coffee, and reception staff couldn't be more helpful. Had a great stay here.

The hostel has a community atmosphere, arranged hikes etc. All the necessary facilities, and reception staff are very helpful. The only real downside is the location, which is a long steep climb from city centre.

(Stayed June 11-15, 2015) Great place to stay, quiet, clean and great breakfast. Staffs are very friendly and they have volunteers to take you for hiking trips + social activities/snacks. Sergio (Brazil) and Christina (Hungary) took us hiking (Stoltzekleiven Trail and Mt. Floyen). Met a few good people who are staying there for travel or work. 15 mins trip from city center, bought a 3 day bus/tram pass for unlimited ride and went all over the city. Frequent bus comes a long and if you can read you're not going to get lost lol. View from the back of the hostel is amazing especially during sunset +++ Paulo (Toronto, Canada)

Super helpful staff, great showers, well organized. Not very social as advertised.

Clean and mostly quiet hostel. On the large side so seems a little impersonal but that's probably just me. Only negative side is the kind of confusing bus system to get back into Bergen, this place is up in the hills overlooking the city. However if you're up for some hiking and general outdoor enjoyment this is definitely the place.

Good hostel for some stays with a nice view over Bergen.

It has rooms with own bathroom and others share. The Wi-Fi is insufficient in the afternoon when there are many connected people. It is a neighborhood in high very good but away from the Center (passing a bus near). The breakfast is very decent.

Stayed for 2weeks it was clean and the breakfast very very nice Nice view too and in front of it you can go by the mountain to the city. 2 hours trip.

Stayed for 3 nights. Very clean and spacious. Great view too.

Stayed 5 nights late April/May. Bedrooms are really just that, 2 bunk beds, a sink and couch. Nice and warm though. Breakfast buffet was continental style, with different fish/meats/cheese/cereals etc Decent kitchen/food preparation facilities — not overcrowded. Best points are the views overlooking Bergen, the close proximity to a shop and mountain trail. Worst point is that you're going to need a car to get here. Overall happy with my stay and would definitely return!

Roomy location, this hostel provides several large rooms for hanging out with fellow travelers, and some nice green places to sit and eat and even grill some good. The place is clean, the bathrooms as well, but the showers sometimes get a bit muddy. Where this fails is in the food. Breakfast is included in the price, but regular at best. There's no hot option, the coffee is horrid (instant coffee) and the products are not of very good quality. Avoid their lunch bag, it's a joke, and won't keep you fed, or happy. Quiet time doesn't seem to be enforced. Depending on who's on your corridor, it might be hard to fall asleep. Wi-Fi is also far from useful. When there's more that a dozen people around, it simply stops working. They advertise there's Wi-Fi in every room, but in reality is only available in the areas near the kitchen and reception. If you really must access the internet here, do it before 7 am, or go somewhere else.
