Geilo Mountain Lodge

Wonderful stay at Geilo Mountain Lodge! Food was fantastic and service couldn’t have been better! We enjoyed a walk/run around the lake nearby as well.

What a gem! We stayed here with our two young children for a week over New Year’s and had a wonderful time. Jan, the owner, was unfailingly accommodating and obliging in helping us organise our first family ski holiday including by driving us all to the ski centre on our first day, renting our ski equipment, sorting out our children’s lessons, and all of our ski passes for the week. The lodge itself is a unique and very traditional property – like a house from a fairy tale. We had breakfast and dinner here virtually every day and the food was delicious, beautifully prepared and presented. All the staff were super kind and welcoming (including Timba, Jan’s handsome Irish setter, who was impeccably behaved including with our two-year old). We cannot imagine a better place to stay in Geilo. We would certainly come again.

The owner's attention to fine details throughout made our stay extra comfortable. Welcoming log fire in the reception area. Excellent 4-course dinner in atmosperic dining room as well as a delicious breakfast served in a novel way. All in all, a delightful place to stay.

The hotel was charming and the service was exceptional. We loved meeting Jan, and every detail of the hotel was impeccably curated to ensure a cozy, luxurious experience. The food was amazing, by far the best of our whole trip. We stayed in August, and would recommend wholeheartedly.

We had booked for a party of six to celebrate my 70 years birthday. We received a warm welcome, aperitif in front of the fireplace and a great 4 course dinner! Absolutely a success! The food was excellent and service friendly and professional. Absolutely a restaurant we will recommend.

This place is just amazing. There is nothing I could complain about. The room was beautiful, quiet and clean, the food super delicious and Jan and his team are the perfect host. Will for sure come back one day :)

Visited Geilo Mountain Lodge’s luxurious cabin Hallinghi at Ustaoset on a trip with Up Norway. We absolutely loved our stay in the peaceful mountain surroundings — sitting by the fire, the view from the jacuzzi, and watching the local wildlife from the living room window! We were amazed by the weather with lots of snow and ever changing conditions. A highlight was our sauna session with Hilde! Can’t wait to come back and send guests here!

We had a couple of lovely days at the comfortable and charming mountain lodge in the summer. We went for hiking and the charming owner of the property, Jan, headed us in the right direction for a completely memorable hike. His hospitality is A+, the food is really good and he is willing to make any adjustments to the menu that suits your tastes. We were very comfortable there and really enjoyed our time at Geilo Mountain Lodge.

Me and my wife had the pleasure of spending a whole evening at the Lodge, for a friends 50th birthday party. We were 17 people, and we were all greeted personally by Jan. He mixed and served us drinks, before we had a tasty 3 course meny with some really good wines. All in all a very relaxing, personal and tasteful dinner experience in historic circumstances. The staff was very attentive and the food was very good!
