Clean. Great shower. Sadly no view as were at side of building. Friendly place. Great communal kitchen.

Fantastic place to stay… We were a large group for a sports tournament… great facilities & very central… staff were amazing.

Clean and comfortable. Heating is sufficient. Lockers are provided. Two kitchens available, however gets really busy around 6 — 8 pm. Close to the Christchurch Botanical Gardens. Reception is helpful to book taxis as well as booking for other YHAs. Sign up for YHA membership for room rate discount if you're staying for many nights throughout your trip (s) in New Zealand.

This is an incredibly central and accessible backpackers. It lacked parking besides street parking. Room was a twin room which had comfortable beds and pillows. The premises were clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with good quality kitchen equipment and a lot of fridge space. We spent the evening relaxing in the lounge which was nice. When we went to sleep on the ground floor we could hear a lot of movement, so clearly the rooms aren't very soundproof.

Low price and fantastic accommodations. Seriously for the price we paid here, we got nicer beds than many other hostels we stayed in on our vacation. I can't speak too much on the location because we only stayed the night and left, but the place is cheap, clean, and the staff are friendly.

By bus from the airport there is still a way to go, no parking space is provided, the room is a bit small, but the price is cheap.

Service was impeccable, loved the staff and they allowed me to check in early! Super clean and nice place.

Great location! The Botanical gardens and museums can be reached in just a few minutes, and the bus terminus is also a walking distance away. The bedroom is very large, and there is a TV. There is also a big ocean terrace.

Central, very clean and excellent bedding for single room good size and quiet. Toilet and BATHROOM are common as in most of the YHA.

Good place to stay in close walking distance of city centre, Central Bus Exchange and Hagley Park. Servicing of bathrooms etc a bit average.

Staff were lovely, kitchen always cleaned. Nice lounge area to relax in. Worth the price.

My room (342) was a twin bedroom and very clean. Not big and not much space for managing your gear. Seperate bathroom and there were three just outside my room, also very clean. Well insulated room that kept out noise from other rooms. However my room had a air conditioning unit just outside my window, and because it was a hot night, left it open and suffered this humming noise all night. Overall it was reasonable value for the price.

My first experience with YHA hostels and it was a great one. Booked a 3bed room and it was clean and tidy, with lockers that had plugs to charge your devices. The room was nearly identical to the one in Wellington I stayed at next, which leads me to believe they are all the same. That is a very good thing, their service and amenities are excellent.

It's a very comfortable hostel for young people and those who travel light. Quiet and equipped with two kitchens. We booked a family room for 4. My friends who have never stayed in a hostel before were happy I helped them save money. However, we arrived at late at night and the recep was unmanned. Fortunately one guest came back and unlocked the door with password. We could follow him in. There was a guy who sat at the kitchen. He was notified and came out to tell us our keys in an envelope were at the recep counter. The staff were friendly and helpful except they could not help you with your luggage up or down the stairs because they are not insured.

Good location and perfectly equipped.

Location was great, clean rooms, helpful staff. Fat Eddie's was a 5 minute walk and was great for food and evening music.

The building was a really nice house. The Wi-Fi was slow and no AC was rough, but everything else was comfortable. The location is very central so you can get around town easily, however you are a 40 min walk from the train station.

Charging an extra 70 cents for a takeaway coffee, no thanks, the coffee was expensive before the takeaway charge. I'll go somewhere else in the future. : (

Easy to get attractions. Rooms are clean. Two kitchens. One is really small and close at 9pm. Another is soap, 25hrs opening. Bathrooms are clean and big enough. Our private room seems face to an equipment area, noisy all the night…

Had a very nice stay over there just that the dining and TV area very stuffy, shd put a fan or open all the windows.

Great location, nice staff. Facilities are clean and we'll kept. Large hostel with kitchen area. Walking distance from a few nice restaurants. No problem here at all.

Loved the stained glass and old timber staircase. Hair dryer and sanitary bin in ensure Very comfortable beds and tv. Great big modern kitchen and spacious lounge.

Lovely clean rooms, comfy beds. Shame that the shower and toilet were in one room and always busy. Needs more bathroom facilities.

Room was a bit of tiny but clean and comfortable. Bathrooms are individual and very huge. Staffs were generally helpful and friendly. Overall a good choice to stay.

The four-person room is very big, has the private bathroom, also may the free luggage ~ in the Christchurch position also is very good, may along the Avon River around the town circle.

Friendly staff. Comfortable environment. Kitchen and laundry are large and clean. Close to downtown. Great place to stay!

Bookings should be done in advanced. I preferred to book dormitory instead of room. It's cheaper 35 NZD. And u get a locker room to put your bags. Just get ur essential things in your dormitory shelf. Along with some food stuffs. U can cook into the kitchen and have ur dinner in hall watching big screen TV.

Nice Hostel — you got your own lockers in your room with power (dorm) —, the rooms in the external House, which is very close located (in the Garden) are quite Cheap for what you'll get and it's perfect for some nights in Christchurch.

It was pretty good for a really reasonable price. The dining and kitchen area is very big and provides plenty of space for cooking, I really appreciate that in a hostel. Made good memories here. All dorm beds are standard bunks. Easy to meet lots of nice people here. Staff were professional.
