I have stayed here very affordable lovely people. I enjoyed my stay.

If your looking for a place just to stay for a few days and spend most of the time out discovering and sightseeing this is a good motel. As I arrived I asked questions about the places to visit and I was shown maps and how to get there. I asked for a great dinning place and was highly reccomended to visit the Kensington tavern which I did and that was just superb. The spa was amazing half hour and book in for that. Games room was ok pool table and table tennis. The rooms were ok as the kitchen was too. Showered and toilets clean and tidy just comfortable. Be aware when you arrive payment in full of your stay is required unless previously arranged.

The manager and his wife were not very welcoming. They have a pool that's not maintained at all and when we asked to view the pool it looked so dirty and not maintained. They refused to give us a place just cause we asked to view the place, well that kind of attitude is not meant for hospitality industry. The manger's wife compalined to him that we were rude and I don't see anything rude in asking to view the place. I'm posting this review so they learn to treat their guests better.

Close to the SH1 and quiet. Fast Wi-Fi and top equipment (towels, soap, kitchen, terrace).

Paid $195.00 for dated facilities. A games room and spa that was unavailable. Constantly harrased about noise at 5pm in the afternoon. Woken up at 3am to the owner yelling at another unit to get out. Then shortly after poked her head through our window to tell us to keep our talking noise down. Do not stay here. What an awful experience. If I could give NO STARS I would without hesitation.

Nice clean motel. Friendly hosts — will definitely stay again. Plenty of parking, super comfy beds. :-) —

Check in was awesome Kath was very friendly and had a good laugh with her, that's where the fun ended. The other host was a bit of a character, if you are going to stay here please watch the compendium and adhere to the 10pm rule! Have a pad and paper with you or learn sign language because talking in your room above 60 decibels is NOT ALLOWED! You are watched like a hawk and was told "I was standing out the back and I could hear, it was very loud". Going to the toilet or having a shower was a bit dodgy not sure if he was still 'listening'. Have stayed at many Motels in Whangarei and this was the first time I have ever felt like checking out straight away. If not for the fact you had to pay up front, I would have. Room was clean but a bit dated, and a few of the appliances need replacing, but again the room was clean (thank you lovely cleaning lady). Give this place a wide berth, a shame because their pool and play area for kids is fantastic, not a happy person!

Old but newly refurbished, very clean friendly staff and very good quality price.

Nice affordable accommodation. Amazing staff welcomed us. Will stay again next time we are through.

Pricey and dated. Better to pay a few dollars more and go somewhere much nicer.

Great stay! Would highly recommend. Place is perfectly located. On main highway and across from sporting complex. Plenty of space, pool was great, awesome staff, helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean. Bathrooms clean. We stayed in the house. Thanks for having us:)

Can not fault this Motel. Had a bad experience at another motel down the road and the owners here at the Sierra were more than happy for us to check in early and make us feel at home aswell as being full of character and great for a few laughs… Nice clean rooms and very comfy beds. Everything we needed was on hand. Thank you so much Hotel Sierra for the warm welcome. Highly recommend this motel.

The worst motel Ive stayed in to date. Short white hair all over the bedding. I later saw a small white haired dog running around the motel courtyard. Carpet was filthy. The lady in office was rude. Do not stay here.

Average. Just really dated and old. Seems seedy.

Very helpful and much cheaper than the 7 options per night that I rang to get quotes. Very central and Free Wi-Fi for the entire stay. Could not have asked for better.

The motel room was tired and has not been updated since sometimes in the 70's it would seem, and not in a good way. The TV reception was poor to non existent, a kitchen cupboard barely hung on by one remaining hinge, and the whole kitchen was in need of a makeover, there was no tea or coffee in the kitchen and no soap in the shower. The water pressure in the shower was terrible. The sofas were terrible and again of a 70'S style but totally uncomfortable. I'd have left them for a special rubbish collection if they had been mine The fridge made so much noise we had to turn it off during the night which meant it defrosted and pooled water in the kitchen. Several of the beds sagged and were uncomfortable. Worryingly, the smoke detector had been removed from the lounge area. This was not the cheapest motel we looked at but we were very disappointed in what we got for the money paid. The staff were friendly and the bedding good but it didn't make up for the faults. I wouldn't stay here again When making the reception staff aware of these issues she showed very little interest in what we had to say. Even at the price we paid for the night I would not reccommend this motel.
