Lovely rooms, handy location, wonderful hosts!

We are in a 2 bedroom apartment which is very spacious. The owners are very helpful and friendly. I would most definitely recommend this motel.

Wonderfull, excellent every time we come, clean and warm units heated pool for family n children, 50+ sky channels, and lovely and friendly hospitality from owners.

My partner, Heather, and I had the pleasure of staying at Alton Lodge Motel for 9 consecutive weeks. The timing wasn’t wholly by choice but we were refugees from the Edgecumbe flooding event and needed an indefinite stay until our home was declared fit for living. Alison and Steve considered our plight and viewed our wee Chihuahua Foxy cross animal whereupon they allocated us a unit adjacent to a grassy area and made us feel very welcome. What actually began as a fairly stress filled experience eased into a relaxed stay even though we needed to extend the time because of building delays. Our hosts went the extra mile to accommodate us and the regular chats boosted our fraying morale on occasions. The house staff became buddies over our extended time and this too helped morale considerably. Flute, our wee animal was particularly enamoured. We enthusiastically recommend Alton Lodge Great experiences begin with great service provided in a sincere and positive manner. Alison and Steve do this in Spades. The accommodation is superb. Comfortable with air conditioning and Sky Sport. The heat regulated indoor swimming pool is superb with temperatures carefully chosen to suit the climate conditions. Would we stay again? Absolutely but preferably in our own timeframe.

Always stay here when in Whakatane. Comfortable, good facilities, super friendly and helpful staff. My girls love the pool.

Arrived without booking a room and even though it was school holidays we were lucky to be given a room for ourselves and 3 grandchildren. Room was big and really clean. Kids enjoyed the swimming pool. Host was friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay there again.

Pretty average really. Double bed in unit 9 was the worst I have slept on, being lumpy with massive roll together. Very hard to find at night, with virtually no street or carpark lighting. Although unit was nice and clean and tidy with heatpump, upstairs living area was warm and pleasant. Unfortunately warmth did not reach downstairs sleeping area, where it was cold and damp. Although not hotels fault noise levels from other units seemed to travel easily through walls, with somebody's 'party' waking us at around 2am. Would not recommend to anyone at $170 a night. I would like to say, at a cheaper rate, these things would not have been such an issue.

Great stop over on a trip from Auckland to Gisborne. Easy and friendly.

The new owners were most helpful, our studio was clean and served our puropose well. The free Wi-Fi was efficent and realiable.

My daughter escaped the edgecumbe floods with her 10 day old baby and 2 year old and half a bucket of essential supplies. She went to 3 motels in whakatane and was turn away by all 3 saying they prefer no children or didn't want to deal with insurance. The people at Alton lodge were the total opposite. They asked other customers if they would mind moving rooms so my daughter and her family could be together in a family unit and supported and helped from the moment they got there. A huge thankyou to these people for all their efforts not just for my daughter but all of the people they have helped over the past few weeks. It's a shame not all of whakatanes accommodation services are like you.

Great place, make you feel very welcome. Very central and convenient. All you could ask for in a "home away from home".
