Had a wonderful stay here. It is an affordable hotel with all the basic amenities in the room. The room is of a standard size and is clean. Facilities in the hotel include free gym (with a good number of machines), and indoor pool area which had geothermal pools, spa and sauna. The private pools require bookings which were fully booked when I was there. A buffet breakfast is also available. Overall, the place is good for families and of a mid range price.

Very nice place to stay. The breakfast spread was very nice. The chef would make fresh pancakes and also eggs to order. They also had a couple of Indian dishes. They had their own spa which is free for in-house guests. The hotel is very close to the walking street which hosts the food street every Thursday which should never be missed.

We had a corner king room with a lake view that certainly delivered on the view. The room itself is fine, with a bed that claims to be a king but feels just a little smaller than that. The bathroom is serviceable but don't expect anything too luxurious. The TV is large and the couch is comfortable and well-placed in the space. Ultimately this hotel is overpriced, but is a good mid-range hotel in this town. I've stayed in other nearby properties and this one is better than their competition at this level.

Great place to stay and surprised us by being one of the cheaper places for our family! Great mineral pools, gym and sauna, central location, tidy, clean, friendly, great kids area, etc.

The hotel is in a reasonably good location, close to resteraunts and bars. The rooms are comfortable and we'll laid out. The hotel needs an upgrade and remodel. While clean, it feels old and worn.

The lobby and bar are clean with a good atmosphere. Staff are all very helpful. Food is pretty sub-par with most of the bread/cake options dry and stale. The "healthy" alternatives are also a bit of a joke but that's another story. The room was very clean but the shower was terrible with no pressure and the beds were so uncomfortable we both left with sore backs. Also the fridge made a series of clicking sounds all night which combined with the bed made for some horrible sleeps. They could do with some more TV channels and a resturaunt guide to the area.

Very comfortable king size bed. We go back to Novotel Rotorua every year for mineral pool n seafood buffet dinner. Thanks for chocolates on check out… kept us going on traffic jam back to Auckland. The best!

Some aspects of the hotel seemed updated and modern and others not so much. View across the lake was nice and the hotel is very central to the restaurant strip and nightlife. Probably one of the best situated hotels and best all round amenities. Updated rooms would have given 5 stars.

Friendly staff, spacious rooms. Beautiful views of the lake. Only a five to ten minute walk to the Polynesian Spa. Also there are plenty of dining options both in and around the hotel.

Nice enough place for an overnight visit to Rotorua and across the road from 'Eat Street'. All the other noteworthy places in Rotorua within easy distances. Rooms up to the same standards as most other big chain hotels.

Fantastic staff. Went over and beyond to help us. Clean tidy room. We had a great stay.

Absolutely loved my stay. I booked in for a birthday treat for myself. I Loved my bed that much I wanted to take it home. Lakeside concert was on, so it was really handy being straight across the road. Rotorua certainly know how to put on a fireworks display. I hope they keep the concert on the same weekend. I included breakfast in my booking and that just topped off a wonderful stay. Having Eat street right there on your doorstep was another bonus. I have already booked again for next year.

Hotel sad… nice bar, pool small and full of kids, spa paying. Some good advice at the reception. Very good restaurant in front.

Love the novotel hotel franchise. Love their service and will definitely stay with this hotel again in future. The only challenge with the room was its noise isolation is poor. Sometime you can hear people taking at the walkway from your bed. Their breakfast was on average but enough to fill your stomach to start the day.

Great hotel with great facilities.

We had a nice 2 day stop in Rotorua staying at the Novotel. We had an easy check in and a nice city view from our room. Great size room. Breakfast was only an average experience. There was a large conference on and unfortunately for the staff they had a few technical issues with one gas burner not working so the "egg" lady was flat out, the toaster had the settings changed by a customer so it wasn't working and the coffee machine went into meltdown all at the same time. Unfortunate. However our food was tasty and we enjoyed it.

We really enjoyed our stay. We found the facilities very good and the room very comfortable. Minor complaint was on our checkout day only one elevator was working and stairs were not easily found or near elevators. Other than that very pleased with all round service, standard of the rooms, the pools and the buffet restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. Will definitely return and recommend to others.

Breakfast deal was great. Refurbishment will be brilliant when it's finished, not sure about so many dark colours though, hope the new carpet will brighten it up. No plug in the room for the bath, was supplied on request. A half used bottle of wine from the minibar was removed and replaced with a full one by housekeeping. Issue resolved with a phone call. Restaurant buffet fantastic. Room was much quieter, especially at night, than some other hotels we have stayed at locally. Lake view, fabulous from this room. This next piece belongs in the 'other' category of did you have any problems, but it is too long. Lack of a plug in the bathroom. Was reported and sorted. The move to digital newspaper reading was an issue. I do not think reading a newspaper on a phone is appropriate. This was mentioned at check in and a newspaper was delivered to our room the next morning but not the following two days of our stay. Give guests a choice of digital or actual newspaper.

While we were pleased to stay at the hotel and the staff were all pleasant and helpful, we feel the hotel left it too long to upgrade and refresh the decor and fittings of the rooms. Our room was tired, although the view was excellent. The buffet food in the evening was disappointing which resulted in us not wishing to use the restaurant a second time. Breakfasts were acceptable but not matching the standards of other hotels. Coffee from the restaurant machine was not pleasant. The hot pools were an unexpected bonus and enjoyable to use.

I really enjoyed staying in your Hotel. The room was spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and warm. Loved the pillow! The Room service cleaned, made the bed, replaced the towels in the bathroom the next day, and someone also came in and checked to restock the minibar. I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast, in fact all the food we had throughout our conference was wonderful. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming.

Very good thanks. The only problem was the WARM showers. This is the second time we have had a warm or cold shower at your hotel. The issue was dealt with very nicely at check out and we will not be hesitating to stay with you again. Regards Ian.

Accor said that we would receive a welcome drink but we only got one which seems strange, should be one each as we are a married couple. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the bar and also enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant. Bed and pillows were comfy. Great view from room. Great using online check in made things quicker.

Booked a last minute weekend. Checked in early at 11am, was promised a king bed, was given a twin share room. The hallways smelled like new paint. Highlight was the geothermal pools, they were really nice! And the service from Rose in the restaurant was fantastic!

The room with the view was perfect. If you could tell me the name/model of the bed in room 529 that would be great — it was absolute heaven! Atlas Restaurant: My meal was not put through and I ended up eating alone as my partner had already received his but they staff were lovely and compensated. Once my meal arrived it was lovely.

While the room we would class as tidy with everything you need (definitely not a wow factor) the restaurant is beyond words. We had the absolute best seafood buffet meal for our 25th wedding anniversary. Oysters are my husbands favourite food and he couldn't believe his eyes. Zane the chef cooked the best steak and venison, Zane you are amazing! Breakfasts were absolutely fantastic and the hotel staff were the best we have ever come across — all smiling, very friendly and very accommodating. Revamp the rooms and you have one of the best hotels in NZ. Well done, definitely be back.

It was my second stay at this hotel. As a Platinum member I have received a nice upgrade and late check-out. Buffet dinner is quite a feast — highly recommended. Poached salmon rocks. Very good selection of cakes/cheesecakes/ice cream. Very good value for money. Breakfast ok — my poached eggs got lost. Selection average, but still in the Novotel expectation range. Pastry not as yummy as during the buffet time. Not even close. Hotel staff friendly and accommodating. One drink voucher provided for house spirits/wine/beer. No VIP treatment — no note in the room from management or complimentary water / fruits / similar like in any other Novotel. However, I was happy about the suite upgrade, so the VIP treatment wasn't so important.

My husband and I totally enjoyed our 2-night stay at the Rotorua Novotel in late July 2017. Our lake-view room was spacious and well-maintained. The geothermal pools were soothing. The gigantic lobby was very welcoming! Its location being so close to EAT Street is also a big bonus. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Pool area was nice but kids can be a problem. The hot tubs are very relaxing unless someone is throwing a ball or splashing around. Maybe an adults only spa area would be good. There were not opening windows in the rooms. The bar is nice, but choice of liquor a bit limited — French Rose is now a must. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel… lacking a family side… spacious room corresponding to the standards.

Bit pricey compared to other motels but you get what you paid for. Very clean and tidy. Walking distance for any major attractions. Good choice for me.

The Rotorua Novotel is no where near to the standards of Novotel brand across the globe. The room standards are low as compared to other Novotels. No bell boys were available to help us with the luggage. We had to load and unload the luggage a ourselves. The shower is inside the bathtub, and not even an anti skid mat is provided. The bath curtain was put up after the check in. The Restaurent had flies all over the place, on the fruits, juices, etc. I would never recommend anyone to stay at The Novotel Rotorua.

I stayed in your Hotel on the weekend and I was very impressed with the quality of care I received during my stay. The complimentary breakfast given to me and my two sisters was appreciated as was the free Wi-Fi. It certainly made our stay more comfortable due to the fact that our circumstances bringing us to Rotorua were that my daughter had been in a nasty car accident! My daughter was transferred from Rotorua hospital to Waikato the following day and we followed her over feeling very refreshed and well looked after. A special thankyou to Zavannah for going out of her way to make us comfortable during a very emotional time. You are blessed to have her on your staff. Many thanks… Andie Clark.

Awesome views Good value for money buffet.

We wish to commend Dave and Paul who were the front desk staff on duty Sunday 28th June 2015 for their exemplary service given to me and my husband it was truly beautiful. We were in Room 510 under Aladina Harunani and we both enjoyed the stay at your hotel as a newly married couple and enjoyed all the help and courteous service given to us both. We would certainly love to come back again one day in the near future when we are in Rotorua again.

Staff was really helpful and polite, great service overall. However, the hotel is very outdated, cleaning not to the highest standard, TV doesn't work properly. The spa pool was really good, clean and lots of towels available. Thanks to a great staff, our stay was pleasant.

I can't do a no star rating. Worst experience in a Novotel hotel chain — bathrooms were old and stained. There was even a cigarette smell when I entered the room. Managers weren't friendly and don't seemed to be well trained — we were supposed to stay for 2 nights but the manager gave us the cards to our rooms that were enabled for one night! We were locked out of our rooms when we returned around noon. The duty manager wasn't at all helpful to resolve the problem and even suggested it was our fault for making separate bookings for two nights.

My 1st stay at this hotel was only OK however the company I work for has this hotel as a prefered accomodation choice and this being the only option for my trip I had to book for a 2nd time staying for 2 nights — HOWEVER this is going to be the last time I allow our comapny to waste money on what can only be described as a very poor, 3rd rate customer experience. My room was dated, shabby in its overall appearance, poorly heated and the fragrance of the region permeated into my room on the 1st night not completely sure how this occurred given no windows were open. As I was travelling on my own I wanted to order room service, however there was no in dining menu in the room and it took 25 minutes for someone to deliver this to my room. I ordered the chicken dish which arrived within an acceptable timeframe however it was overcooked, therefore dry and utterly tasteless. Later on in the evening I tried to purchase an in house movie depsite trying 3 times to do so, my selection (Dallas Buyers Club) simply would not load and play. The TV hummed very loudly and the reception was very poor — shadowing and out of focus picture. The only way to not hear the humming was to turn the volume down however it had to be turned down to such an extent it impacted on being able to hear the rather poor choice of viewing. In addition the choice of standard TV channels, and a couple of additional channels which included a 24 hr yoga channel do not cut it in the 21st century.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Great location — close to restaurants and city centre. Free parking. Stunning lobby. Carpets in passages badly worn. Room a bit small but sufficient. Safe didn't work. Bathroom with bathtub shower, dated and water stained but clean. Lovely view from room. Basic gym area.

Did not receive the lake view room we booked. Almost every surface, including the walls, carpet, vents, bathroom, glassware, utensils, etc. Is dirty. Almost no staff here, those that are working provide hasty and curt service. Renovation noise and fumes are significant enough to prevent sleep. Found a line of ants snaking their way up, and into, a brick column in front of the building. Considering all of these issues, I would stay anywhere except here.

I really hate it when companies post specials then you go to book it and they dont honor the rate, they posted special of $149 then the website says $169. Why do they do this to trick us to click though.
