Nice hotel in a quiet location. Breakfast is not rich but very high quality-chic hot fresh bread for sandwiches, "elite" tea bags, etc.

Located in a wonderful setting, in front of the lake, excellent restaurant, large rooms, a little bit about cleanliness.

Nice good food, Interior looks really nice, people are Friendly and professional.

We did not have the best experience at this hotel. Whilst it is well located by the water with lovely views and the owners gave us a friendly welcome on arrival and we enjoyed sitting on the pleasant terrace for a drink, as time went on we found that things were not up to the usual standards we would expect in a hotel or B&B. There was no kettle or facilities for drink making in our room and also no fridge. It was possible to buy drinks from the bar when it was open, but sometimes they closed quite early. You could take drinks from the bar to your room when it was open though. The electrical sockets by the bed appeared to be potentially dangerous, with plugs fitting badly and sparking when you tried to plug anything in. The heating worked fine and the TV had UK/US channels. The hairdryer was fine (bathroom socket was safe). There was plenty of hot water and the shower was fine. However, on the day before we left, the towels were changed and we were left with only two hand towels and no bath towels. We asked the owner if we could have more towels to shower before we left, however they were not helpful and did not make any effort to get us more towels, did not offer an apology and did not appear to see any problem, only saying that there had not been enough bath towels, so we were forced to try to dry ourselves with the small hand towels — very unsatisfactory.

So often it’s always the little things that “silt up” to become an issue… and so it was with our visit to Hotel-Restaurant De Ziende. After an early crossing from Dover, a glorious walking tour of Ghent, a less than glorious battle with the Antwerp Ring Road, we arrived at this little gem in the Dutch countryside. A Heron posing for photographs on the waterside and a beautiful view across the Dyke landscape, made for a glorious first impression. Check-in, have a beer and eat… alas restaurant closed. Not a game changer as we were directed towards a bistro pub a few hundred metres away and had a great meal (and a couple of beers). The first floor room looked out across the car park onto the waterside, with moored boats and a couple of families of waterfowl. The wooden framed beds would certainly win no comfort ratings and both the room door and the bathroom door creaked so loudly that even the Geese were disturbed (why didn’t I have the WD40 in the car)? The room was an acceptable size and the shower was powerful and hot. There were toiletries in a neat tray in the bathroom. With some important emails to answer, at 6.45 the following morning, I went in search of the Wi-Fi code for my laptop. The restaurant/breakfast area was closed (locked) but the plates of cheeses and meat were already laid out. Seeing the woman who was “on duty” I knocked on the window to catch her attention.

Looks elegant and the food is good but its a bit pricey for me.

A hotel in the farming country side. Beautiful cottage room with lots of room. Friendly people a so very relaxing. Really recommend you visit this place.
