The rooms was so lovely and clean. Beautiful decorated and all worked fine.
Location is superb so close to Lagoon and my favourite restaurant the Anchor.
An easy walk to downtown or a short drive to the 7dunes for some quad biking or visit the Dunes Mall.

The architecture is amazing and the entire place just makes it feel special.
The best thing for us travelling is that they are Pet Friendly, our GSD was right at home and was able to relax and not be on guard at all times. The braai area was her favorite place to be.

De Baken was a pleasant experience the fact that I could take my puppies with me was a huge blessing the staff is friendly and the host is caring and kind I would recommend this place to anyone its very different from any other guesthouse.

I've stayed in Unit 1 (Slap Snoek) and Unit 7 (Windy Waves). Both are charmingly designed and decorated, with secure parking and cute little private courtyards. I was particularly delighted with Unit 1, which has a welcoming, cozy ambience and a private garage. The prices are reasonable, the necessities are provided, the beds are glorious with luxurious bedding, there is a laundry service available. The weather is chilly this time of year, but no worries, there are electric heaters. The shower stalls are roomy and well designed. Lots of stone and tile and painted brick; the place has a very modern feel. The outside is interesting: the architecture, the colors that make me smile, and the lovely flowerbeds. As good as the units themselves was the manager, Coenita. I felt that she was genuinely welcoming me, not just smiling because it was her job. When I crushed my foot in an accident and returned to recover at de Baken, she took very good care of me. This kind of genuine warmth & concern is what makes or breaks a place for me, and I highly recommend de Baken — not only for the brilliant design & luxurious feel, but also that genuine warmth.

By far the most comfortable accommodation we experienced during our trip through Namibia. It’s arranged in such a way that you could practically live there. There was even a fireplace with a built-in grill and firewood ready to use, though unfortunately, we didn’t have time to enjoy it. The property is in a great location on the edge of town, so you don’t have to drive through the center to reach major attractions like Pelican Point or Sandwich Harbour. It’s also close to good restaurants, some are even within easy walking distance. You can also walk to the lagoon.

Just enjoyed an absolutely faultless experience at De Baken. While the location is ideal for visitors to Walvis Bay, it is the degree of thought that has gone into the accommodation that elevates De Baken`s units. Private, well appointed, super stylish and comfortable with every detail considered, I`m not sure many other hospitality establishments in WB can compare. And then there was the superb service offered by Conita, who couldn`t have been more professional, efficient or kind. Honestly, what a pleasure.

I had the pleasure of staying at De Baken Self-Catering Accommodation for a year, and it was an amazing experience. The atmosphere is truly special, and the hospitality is outstanding. I have stayed in De Baken for the last 2 years. I have never stayed in a nicer, cleaner or more beautiful place. The staff are always amazing. The rooms are always clean with fantastic facilities.
Just a stone throw from the beach and restaurants. I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone.

The style and architecture is just stunning. The entire place is basically a work of art.
Each unit has its own private space for sitting or eating outside. The BBQ (Braai) was well placed and supplied with everything required, including wood, firelighters, matches and tools. Parking is provided inside the premises behind a secure gate. Some apartments are provided with a garage.
The beds are very comfortable and the bedding fresh, stylish and clean. The little kitchen is well equipped and lacks nothing.
The location of the premises is within walking distance of the Waterfront and a few restaurants. The town and supermarkets are just a very short drive away, 3 to 5 minutes.
One feels much welcomed by the friendly owners.

I had an amazing stay at this guest house in Walvis Bay. It’s just a short walk to the lagoon, perfect for morning walks or runs, and close to great spots like The Anchor restaurant, a lovely coffee shop, and the catamarans. The sunsets and sunrises over the lagoon were breathtaking. The guest house was exceptionally clean, very well taken care of, and each unit is separate, offering privacy. There is secure parking inside the property. With a fantastic braai area and a fully equipped kitchen, it’s perfect for both short and longer stays. Ideal for anyone passing through or looking to explore Walvis Bay. I’ll definitely be back soon.

My stay at Dr Baken was fantastic. It’s within walking distance to the lagoon, perfect for runs or strolls, and close to excellent spots like The Anchor restaurant, a cozy coffee shop, and the catamaran tours. The views of the sunrise and sunset over the lagoon were stunning. The guest house was spotless, well-maintained, and each unit offered privacy. With a fully equipped kitchen and a great braai area, it’s perfect for short visits or longer stays. There is secure parking inside the property and the staff are very friendly. I’ll definitely return when I’m in Walvis Bay again.
