The Desert House

My fiancé and I spent one night at the Desert House, and even though it was a short stay, we had a wonderful time.
The decoration is charming, the rooms are very comfortable and all in all the B&B is a very relaxing place.
Also, Annika and David made us feel very welcome, and were very generous with their tips and recommendations.

I was blown away by the hospitality at Desert House. Anneke and David put so much effort into looking after us before and especially after our 5 day traverse across the Brandberg. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the showers hot, the bed's comfortable and the breakfasts were a feast. But it really was their kindness and generosity that sets Desert House apart from other bed and breakfasts we've stayed in. I highly recommend Desert House.

Friendly and helpfull couple running this B&B. Correctly priced. Very good breakfast. Good place to stop and do the “white lady” hike and then proceed towards Etosha. Recommended!

Dave and Anika, the owners, are unique persons with a unique guesthouse at a unique place, namely Uis. After we had to turn around due to the Omaruru River in flood, we arrived late in the evening at the guest house — just to be welcomed by Dave with an offer of a late night drink. The offerings are great and spectacular.

A true little slice of paradise! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such kindness and warmth by the owners, truly caring and passionate people. Every detail of our little house reflected the love and attention to detail that went into it: spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and incredibly peaceful… an absolute gem! And the breakfast? Simply the best we’ve had in all of Africa a real treat for the taste buds!
But what truly makes this place exceptional is the humanity of the people behind it. As we were leaving, we realized that our rooftop tent was no longer properly secured. The owner kindly took the time to help us fix it, all with a smile, and even gave us valuable advice and a tool for the rest of our journey!
A heartfelt thank you for this unforgettable experience. We leave with full hearts and will definitely be back!

We had already heard about David and Annika's hospitality from other travellers before we got there. And we were not disappointed, to the contrary, David even gave me a lift to a nearby location for an unforgettable night of star gazing and philosophical conversations under the desert sky.

One night at Annika’s and David’s place was far too short. They are both wonderful hosts to a beautiful b&b. The place is beautifully decorated with most paintings fones by Annika herself 😱
We have pre booked dinner with them which consisted of a traditional braai cooked in the fire pit by David — no need to mention that dinner was incredible.
Rooms were comfy and breakfast good.

We stayed for one night during our road trip in Namibia. The place is literally a gem! Anika, the hostess, takes care of everything, from the decoration, facilities, breakfast to the welcoming wine in an exceptional way! I highly recommend it, there was noting at all to disappoint us.

David and Annika have created a jem of a hotel.
+ Good stoping point between Swakopmund, Etosha and Windhoek.
+ Decorated with attention and love.
+ Everything worked, including the showers (which is rare in Namibia).
+ Good sized room.
+ Excellent quality breakfast.
+ Really friendly owners, great information on Namibia and other towns and roads.
+ David’s optional extra Messum Crater tour is really special, particularly the sundown one. Just book it!

Our stay at the desert house was one of the best in Namibia. We stayed an extra night after initially only booking for one night. The hosts made us feel at home, breakfast was lovely, the rooms are beautiful and clean, and the dinner braai was a highlight. They go above and beyond for their guests. They made my little one feel special with a birthday breakfast, signing and gifts. Our children loved it and wanted to stay longer. It felt like waving goodbye to family after two days. I can not recommend this little guest house enough. It is a perfect half way stop between Swakop and Damaraland.

The Desert House is a remarkable place. The rooms are finished with lots of love to details. After being the 5th time in Namibia and 2 months into this trip I can honestly say that this guesthouse ranks very very high on my list. The owners, Annika and David, are the best hosts you can imagine. They did not leave one wish unfulfilled or question unanswered.
The Desert House will definitely a stop on our next visit to Namibia.

This little gem in Uis is a fantastic place! From the moment you enter the premises you feel the wonderful and relaxed athmosphere. The owners, Annika and David do everything to make your stay memorable, from the welcome glass of wine (or beer) to the farewell moment. They even walked us to the nearby restaurant in the evening although Uis is the safest place you can imagine.
Everything about the place is so cozy, the design of the rooms is unique and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Excellent breakfast as well.
