Sossus Oasis Campsite

Julian Lidia and all the people we dealt with are extremely kind, professional and above all with a heart of gold. The campsite is new, clean and at the gates of the national park. If you pass by here, you would make a big mistake not to stop. With the hope of being able to return, we are grateful to the universe for having made this choice. Mattia and Chicca.

The campsite is located directly in front of the entrance to Sossusvlei, Namibia's famous red desert landscape. We had booked a campsite with its own bathroom. A shower, toilet and sink, as well as a braai, were available. There is a petrol station and a kiosk. Wi-Fi was available free of charge with medium performance. Electricity was also available on site. There was also a pool.

One of the best campsites we've stayed at! Each pitch has brand new very clean and spacious private ablutions, rooftop terrace and veranda. The pitches look straight out over a beautiful desert view, there's a large swimming pool, shop, fuel station, BBQ facilties at each pitch, the staff were so friendly and it's right by the park gate. Couldn't recommend more.

Very basic Campsite located right next to the entrance to the national park. It is definitely not a 2 star Hotel ;)
Although the campsites have private bathrooms the toilets stink, and trash is not always taken away. Showers are clean though.
There is power at the campsites.
The reception is located at the nearby gas station.
Since we're in a desert the pool cannot be regularly refilled and might not be clean enough to swim in.

Very nice Campsite. The poeple there were helpful and friendly and we were very lucky to get a last minute campsite. Make sure to book very well in advance. We definitely prefered the private campsites, because we had some fellow campers on the shared campsite who were super load. Private abolutions were perfect, shared ones could need a bit more privacy. Can get very windy here.

If you like camping at a petrol station forecourt, this is the place for you. There is no restaurant and only a small warm food counter in the petrol station. Check in is in the petrol station too with a fairly rude guy. He told us we had the best site on the shared campsite but it was in the centre with no shade. There is no shade across the whole site and the pool was filthy. We ended up going to a lodge up the road for the day just to get away from the camp. On our return, someone else had been assigned our spot. Luckily they were very friendly and it seems they try to wedge as many people in as possible so assigned us both to the same pitch, even though later that evening we found all the other pitches were empty. The ladies toilets were overflowing and there was a bad smell. The showers are alright but worn, same for the toilets. Foxes trash the camp overnight and the wind was unbelievable as there is no shelter. We had booked for two nights and decided to bail out after seeing the camp and only stay one. When we told the guy at the petrol station and asked if we could have a refund for night number 2, we got an eye roll and a flat "no". Didn't even ask why we didn't want to stay any longer. If it wasn't for the location I would avoid this as much as possible as there is literally nothing to do there in the day.

Great camp site. Private bathing areas, a handy gas station/convenience store, and sits right next to the Park entrance. Plus the service is excellent. Our group had issues accessing Wi-Fi and the pool had been closed from a recent storm. A manager immediately solved the Wi-Fi issue and even kindly allowed us to use the pool despite it being technically closed at the time so we could cool off after a long morning of hiking. Was very helpful!

This is a fantastic campsite, especially location. Check in at the gas station was fast and smooth. Actual campsite we were assigned to was lovely and very clean and shower was fantastic. We also had good phone service here. If coming in winter, it’s worth looking at the weather forecast before arriving in sossusvlei. While there, the weather phenomenon called the ‘East Wind’ occurred and involved winds over 50 Kmph. If you have a flimsy tent, especially worth looking into. Highly recommend staying here!

The camp site stands are set in a huge circle, so you feel very private. Love the kitchen prep area, shelter and private bathrooms which make camping a breeze. Very vibey with everyone around getting excited to go hit the dunes. A lovely pool area in the middle to cool down and a restaurant/supermarket within walking distance. Loved the vibe there surrounded by the desert.

Reception at the gas station had awesome staff. The site for camping is spacious with lights and power (needs Namibia adapter to use). The facilities were nice. Quiet at night, gas station on the spot and by the Sesriem park entrance. Also they have a pool and Internet.
The only negative but it is not the campsite fault is that the armored crickets were everywhere making cooking very inconvenient.

I believe this is one of the nicest campsites. It has a private bathroom (running hot water), a designated kitchen area, and plenty of shade. We stayed there after our visit to Sossusvlei and enjoyed the sunset over the mountains. Note that the campsite is located outside the inner gate, so you can access attractions in Sossusvlei an hour later than if you were staying at an inside campsite.

The camping setup is great, with lots of space and a good shelter. Be warned that it's outside the national park, so you can't go in until sunrise. So if you want to go to the dunes for sunrise you need to stay somewhere else. There's a little pool in the middle of the camping area for cooling off too.

Sossus Oasis was the 3rd stop on our 21 day Namibian trip. What an amazing camp. Private ablutions which were well maintained. Nice size pool. Service Station and shop close by. Located 5 minutes from the entrance to Sossusvlei. Staff at the service station were friendly and helpful.
The distance between the campsites was good and offered a fair amount of privacy.
Would definitely recommend this camp site.

The campsite met our expectations. We booked through a travel agent that did not make us aware that there are two areas within the campsite — the group area and the private campsites. So we were booked at the group campsite with shared ablution and shower facilities. Not exactly what we would have preferred but the ladies facilities were well kept nonetheless. The gentlemen facilities were not very clean according to my husband.
Great pool and close to the Sesriem gate. The Engen garage is well equipped.

We did 2 weeks camping and self-drive safari around Namibia and Botswana and this was by far our favourite campsite that we stayed at! The staff are friendly, the campsites are well spaced out and private, the facilities are great (private bathroom with shower, kitchen, braii, shelter! ) and the pool in the middle of the desert is awesome. Also right next to the gates into the national park so you can get in super early. Thoroughly recommend.

Location is good: not inside the park, but just outside.
Camping itself is beautiful, sunset is awesome.
Check-in was very beneath expectation. Not only did they provide the wrong opening time for the Sossusvlei Gate, they also did not give any explanation about the camping and the foxes that terrorize the camping each night, causing all our slippers to be bitten apart and our garbage can to be distributed all over the area.

We camped and self catered. Firstly the camping areas need some screening. The sand blows everywhere and the wind can get a bit strong. The Wi-Fi is only available at the "reception" area and that closes early evening so be prepared to talk to each other. There is a pool but basically just a plunge pool, with no shelter from the wind you are covered in sand by the time you get back to your tent. This was the only place we had to peg our tent down.
