Sossus Dune Lodge

This was the most expensive lodge we stayed in and unfortunately the worst one.
Location was awesome, staff was friendly, food was okay. However the place it self seems to be not well maintained.
The room were dirty, the towels not in a good shape, same for the bed sheets who were stained and dusty, and there were holes in the mosquitoes net, etc. Too overpriced for what you get in comparison to other lodges.
As for all the NWR lodges we stayed in I can’t recommend it. Save your money and stay at the Sesriem Campsite which is great!

The location is the best out of all lodges. Your balcony will directly face the red sand dunes. And at night, you can see all the stars in the galaxy.
But when it gets very windy (like in August), it could become a little inconvenient.

Stayed here for one night in May 2025 and would highly recommend if you want to see Deadvlei at sunrise and hike dune 45 for sunset. If you’re not too bothered about that, I’m not sure it would be worth the price tag. There are lots of nice accommodation outside the park gates for much less.

The tent was huge. The surrounding was beautiful. The room was a bit dusty though staff tried to keep it as clean as they can. One downside is the lack of AC with afternoon temp reached about 40C. The night was in 20's so it's more bearable.
The location is just inside the national park. We took the morning excursion to Sossusvlei. We were first car there and the guide secured the best picnic spot for us.
Highly recommended.

Major benefit is that you are inside the park gates so can head to Deadvlei much earlier than those staying at other places. Looks like quaint African huts but lack of air conditioning means the rooms get sweltering hot. Wi-Fi not working (apparently out for a while) waiting for someone to come from Windhoek to fix it. Evening meal — only 1 starter, choice of 2 mains and 1 dessert. Despite the limited choice the food was really tasty. Packed breakfasts were excellent, just what we needed after a hard morning's photography at Deadvlei. No TV or radio in rooms. Staff are friendly and helpful. Only stay here if you can cope with high temperatures.

+ It is the closest lodge to sossusvlei, so you can be the first there to see the sunrise.
+ The laundry service is included.
+ The staff was super helpful and friendly.
— the Internet was not for free and was broken for one day.
— for a 4-star hotel the rooms were too dirty. There were spidernet at least in three places. The sink was super dusty.
— The dinner and breakfast was super basic. For breakfast there were no variety.
— there was no air-conditioning, the rooms were super hot from 11am to 11pm.
— too expensive for the value offered.
All in all only recommended for people who really want to be the first one in sossusvlei without waiting.

We just came for the sunset view at dinner, great view and restaurant environment.
The food is reasonable we ordered a main dish plate only which comes with meat, pasta and vegetables at 150N.
As there was no food menu it caused some confusion, there’s only appetizer, main dish and dessert to choose from.
The steak and chicken were delicious and big portion. But couldn’t say it’s fine dining standard.
Wifi is not free.
The staff was very attentive to remind us to go another way due the closed gate after 1930, the road passing by the canyon is quite bumpy, if you want to avoid this better leave before the gate close.

Note: this hotel has the closest access to the dunes to and sossusvlei.

Great location (for excursions! ) for Sesrium Canyon and Elim Dune for sunset. Service, facilities and meals were much better than expected! Catered for our vegan and vegetarian diets, and the views from the room were great. The bathroom design and hot running water was amazing. Had a fridge, but no AC. Pity we couldnt enjoy the sunrise, due to our early excursion — climbing Dune 45 and Deadvlei.
