Riad Siwan

Lovely riad and people, we had a brilliant trip to Marrakesh and Riad Siwan is the perfect base. Spacious rooms, great food and the roof is the perfect viewpoint over the city.

A lovely and comfortable stay with an authentic Moroccan style. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was tasty, the staff were friendly, and the location is close to the souks while still quiet enough to relax. A great experience in Marrakech.

This was our honeymoon so we wanted everything to be perfect. At Riad Siwan it was.
The location is amazing — an oasis of calm among the vibrancy and craziness of the Marrakech medina but you are within walking distance of the sights and sounds of the City with it's lovely restaurants (too many to mention but Pepo Nero the best) and bars (thank you Kosy Bar).
The Siwan has been very tastefully done up by its owner and is very well managed by her and the boss Khalid. Rooms were perfect, the roof top a lovely place to hang out (with a plunge pool if you get too hot) and where we had the excellent breakfast and sun downers as well as dinner on our first night which was excellent. They will efficiently organise tours to the Atlas mountains and a food tour of the City as well as other excursions.
They don't have a bar but they are more than happy to provide the tonic and the ice and keep your duty free / supermarket wine cool. A wonderful week in Marrakech.

My first visit to Marrakesh. I was nervous to trust reviews on trip advisor etc but so glad we chose Riad Siwan via Mr & Mrs Smith. It’s not cheap but it exceeded our expectations. Beautifully presented, attentive and charming staff, great location for independent exploring and delicious food.
On a practical level the air con and Wi-Fi work perfectly.
Our stay has been magical so far.

A perfect stay at a newly renovated riad, tastefully decorated with local flare. Quitely tucked away in the medina (old town), this riad is the perfect location for exploring the surrounding souk and attractions on foot. Very friendly and attentive staff. We loved everything about our stay.

Like stepping into a storybook. The Riad was our little oasis in the historic Medina neighborhood of Marrakesh. Meticulously clean, beautifully designed. We were swooning long before we even reached the terrace, which is a bit higher than most surrounding buildings so the view couldn’t be better. The breakfast was delicious and filling each morning. Very unlike us, we ended up coming back to the hotel for their Moroccan dinners most nights because the food and service was so delicious and authentic. Khalid the hotel manager was incredibly hospitable and helped introduce us to Marrakesh. Another standout was their attendant Amine. Amine took amazing care of us throughout our stay and quickly felt like a friend. We now wish we could take Amine with us wherever we travel!

We booked Riad Siwan through Mr&Mrs Smith, not quite sure what to expect on our first visit to Morocco and our first riad. I work in hospitality, so my expectations are high. I’ve also traveled all over the world, and my brother, staying at the riad with me, previously worked at a luxury hotel. We were both completely blown away by our wonderful experience, among the best hospitality we have ever had.
From the moment we arrived, we felt completely taken care of. We got to the riad shortly after midnight and were welcomed and taken to our room with an offer to go up and see the view from the terrace. We woke up on our first morning after breakfast hours ended, but when we emerged from our room the manager, Khalid, told us breakfast was right this way and we couldn’t have been more surprised and thrilled that they kept it for us.
The food was amazing, we had the three course dinner menu on two nights of our stay and breakfast each morning. We appreciated the rotating breakfast items and the eggs made to order. Be sure to make it home for sunset so you can enjoy evening drinks on the wonderful terrace!
Amine, in particular, was an attentive, friendly, and kind staff member whenever we needed anything. He even carried chairs and a small table up to the very top of the terrace so we could be more comfortable while we enjoyed rooftop mojitos during sunset.
I look forward to hopefully staying again, and was truly impressed by the service.

Riad Siwan is a beautiful, peaceful oasis in a bustling part of the Medina (the old city). It has been lovingly restored (check out the before and after photo album) and the owner and manager are warm, helpful, and give great recommendations. The staff could not have been more gracious. The rooms are clean, quiet, and elegantly decorated. Breakfast is delicious. We were enjoying the sunny, comfortable rooftop terrace so much one day that we decided to stay for lunch and it was fresh and tasty. We got so lazy/ happy that we abandoned our plans that day and just lounged in the lounge chairs reading and chatting. It is very centrally located to the top "must see places". Our favorite place was the fascinating Musee des Confluence, and amazing Riad that is a living example of Moorish architecture and design.
I appreciate reviews that get specific, so I will share one location detail. The Riad is a few blocks off a very busy, cobblestone alley lined with shops and restaurants. It is too narrow for cars, but motorbikes, bikes, even donkey carts constantly weave through the throng of pedestrians. My friend found it lively and wasn't concerned, but I found it nerve wracking. Miraculously, no one seems to collide, but it was just too close for comfort for me. Clearly I have given Riad Siwan a 5 star review above, so I share it in the spirit of knowing your own wiring. Sidenote: take them up on the airport transfer.

We had terrible experience at Riad Siwan. For example, Riad did not have proper check-in, staff only spoke Arabic, no bar (they had mandatory New Year dinner and only option was to buy one type of Moroccan wine and that also as bottles & not glasses, people on our table were frustrated about this), bathroom walls were damp and smelly, no dark curtains resulting in morning light coming into the room and waking us up, dirty carpets, no full length mirror to dress up, common sitting room/area closed for private massage. We complained about these and were told that owner will speak to us. She never spoke to us. This shows that she did not care about customer experience. We had already paid for it so could not do anything. During our 12 days stay in Morocco, we stayed in other four Riads and they were amazing. I would strongly recommend avoiding this Riad.
Response for owners below says that we were looking for hotel experience. We have stayed in multiple rIads in Morocco and was comparing to Riad experience only. In other words you are accepting that issues listed by us are accurate and travelers should expect that as you are Riad.

This is an oasis in the middle of the Medina. Dinners can be ordered onsite. Breakfast is a bit strange. All the staff seem happy. A special shout-out to the driver (Hassem? ) who drove us from Marrakech to Casablanca.
We were dissappointed that we did not have time to walk to Bahia Palace. Next time we will inform the guide that we are not interested in shopping, but rather HISTORY!

It’s the real deal! Stunning Riad inside! Outside less so! Khalid and staff couldn’t be nicer, friendly and helpful! Don’t do what we did and try to find the place by yourself! It was bewildering and stressful Definitely take Khalid’s advice to have porter meet you at the taxi rank and escort you there!

Riad Siwan is amazing! The rooms are beautiful and spacious. The service is great, they know the good restaurants and help you with organizing trips. The location is within walking distance of everything yet still peaceful when you are within riad Siwan. Highly recommend it!

Two nights in the heart of Marrakesh. This Riad is very beautiful, with so much love for detail. Everything was arranged, from drinks on the rooftop to guide and transfers to any place in Marrakesh — we just had to mention a destination and they took care of everything else. Outstanding service — thank you!

A beautiful oasis in the middle of the Marrakech Medina. The staff from the moment we walked in were so welcoming and helped us get comfortable immediately. The attention to detail, artwork and design make this a special place to stay. Wonderful rooftop with a panoramic view, outdoor breakfast and dining. A hidden lap pool, perfect after a day on the streets of the Medina. Highly recommend this special Riad!

This place is hidden is the middle of the old Medina. You walk through the mysterious alleys to get to this stunning heaven. Clean, beautiful, free breakfast but mostly amazing staff who treated us with kindness and love. I even got the recipe for yummiest cake made by Rabiaa. We are so grateful for everything.

If you are looking for a three-star riad tucked away in the Marrakesh Medina, this is the place.
On the plus side:
— The owner, Khalid, is a good guy. Kind and helpful.
— The rooms are quite large.
— There we’re two arrangements of fresh flowers in our room.
The windows provided plenty of nighttime fresh air.
— Our bathroom was modern and immense.
— The terrace up top is quite nice, even if the pool is tiny.
On the lesser side:
— This is a very small riad. I think just five rooms.
— Compared to other places we have stayed over the last two weeks, this is a lesser riad. There is nothing at all grand about it. The main floor courtyard is tiny and underwhelming.
— The overall layout is somewhat strange. Stairs are steep and narrow.
— Breakfast is adequate, but rather meager. We were never offered any kind of eggs or anything more than the breads, pancakes, jams and olives set out.
— There is little staffing. It would be nice to be offered a Coke or some drink on the terrace. But you have to go in search of someone in this case.
— The place radiates noise. You can hear any conversation throughout the building. As well as early morning activity setting up for breakfast. And the buzz of the nearby square with all its “attractions” goes well into the night.
All in all, this was a decent home base for our final stop in Morocco. If not nearly as nice as other accommodations. We are grateful for Khalid. If you are happy with a three-star riad, go here.

This Riad was simply amazing. The riad itself has been lovingly restored to a very high spec. The staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming. They really go out of their way to make sure you have a great time in their city. Khalid and Aman were always on hand to assist us with a smile and great advice and guidance. The rooftop terrace was a tranquil oasis in the chaos that is Marrakesh. We felt at home and at ease and really enjoyed our visit to this most sacred of places.
