The servers and the staff are really amazing really hopeful with everything and very friendly I rate this place 10 out of 10

The hotel is chilled expensive shabby backpacker chic but eye wateringly expensive. They aggressively apply 20% tips even for breakfast which is included and free, which works out about 20 dollars! The hotel daily is full of instagramers at the beach Club and pool with no private areas for hotel guests! They are constantly taking photos! Doesn’t make you feel too special and waiters constantly chasing with bills to make sure you pay your 20% tip! We stayed for 3 nights and wouldn’t come back! That coupled with Tulum and taxis at $20 for a km not negotiable. It’s hard to love casa malca. The food is excellent as is the art! And cocktails at 25 $ all over town Tulum and casa malca are not on our list.

This place is insane… I cannot recommend it highly enough… everything is perfect from the service to the atmosphere!

We had a group of 15 and spent our last night and dinner eating at Philosophy at Casa Malca. The service and food were phenomenal, probably the best clam chowder I’ve ever had! The waitstaff was very kind and took us in a private tour to the hotel lobby to see more of the art and sculptures. They whole property is a photo opportunity but it was cool to learn about the history as well!

Amazing hotel with the best beach area, delicious food, great service, full of pieces of art that will be enjoyable for the art lovers. One minus — gym. That may be better for such place. But my best rate for this place. If I stay in Tulum again, only this hotel will be chosen to stay.

I recommend all of it. If I could give this hotel 10 stars I would. Superior customer service, food is amazing, rooms are absolutely beautiful, the beach is amazing, the restaurants excellent, just everything!

Lousy service, it is understood that it is a fortress but they treat visitors with the tip of their foot they have soldiers and policemen at the entrance treat as thugs to the guests NOTHING RECOMMENDED.

What an amazing place, food was incredible and the waiter (hector) treated us like royalty even the towel boy (Orlando) was incredible nice.

To be completely honest, Casa Malca made the trip! The BEST time I had throughout my whole time in Tulum, was at Casa Malca! I highly recommend!

Pablo Escobar's former mansion! We didn't stay but visited 2 days back to back because it was so much fun. Bring your camera, wallet and appetite for fun.

This is a beautiful place! Definitely somewhere you should go for photos and a drink. Food was okay, nothing special. They do give you a lot of food and service was amazing! A little pricey, but worth the experience.

This place is totally incredible and epic. From the very first moment Daniel the concierge has got you sorted. Carlos and Elias provide amazing service along the pool and the Oceanside cabanas which are literally feet from the warm Caribbean Sea. Three restaurants on premise — all of them delicious — one should have a Michelin star, one is a grill on the beach, one more for ceviche and small treats. This place is situated right in the jungle so you see iguanas, crabs, baby sea turtles, and maybe even some dolphins out on the water. The patrons are every socialite you’d imagine from America, South America, centra America and Europe. All in all this was the best place I’ve ever stayed — Pablo Escobar’s old mansion now renovated by a world reknown art collector.

My boyfriend and I were staying next door, but wanted to check out the hotel. We were shown exemplary hospitality, even though we weren’t hotel guests. We decided to have a cocktail at the restaurant bar — one of the best margaritas I’ve ever had! Tania, the hostess at Philosophy, was an absolute gem. She was quick to grab us a seat at the bar and explain the drink menu options. Once we sat down, she made sure to give us the Wi-Fi info. We wanted to explore more of the town, only being there 3 nights, so I asked her for any recommendations where to go that evening. Tania was very patient and gave us a bunch of suggestions. After our amazing experience with the staff and hotel guests we chatted with, we are now planning our next trip back to Tulum, just to stay at Casa Malca.

Went to see the property out of curiosity. Decided to eat lunch there with my wife. Food was okay. On the pricey side but not unexpected due to the historical ties to the property. Wait staff was pretty bad as we waited at least 15 minutes once we had sat down for someone to come and take our drink order. The food came out quickly once we ordered but the wait began again when it was time to pay. The waiter asked if we had cash and when I told him we did not he said that their credit card terminal was down at the restaurant. I walked with him the entire length of the property to the reception desk only to be told that the terminal was not working there either. I was then informed that I had to walk the entire length of the property again back to the restaurant to fill out a form promising to pay and give them my credit card information. Just a bit of a frustrating situation since they knew it wasn't working but did not let anyone know before ordering. It hasn't been working for days. I would not go back.

Great atmosphere. Some of the dishes are very good some other are a missed. Service is great.

My fiancé and I live in Tulum. We get asked all the time by friends who come in town, what our favorite spots are. Casa Malca is always on this list. It is the most posh place on the beach. The service is amazing and the food is always wonderful! The bartenders know how to make the best drinks. It is an absolute must see when you come to Tulum.

At the far station I'll go down, grass to the waist! Very far from civilization and a lot of grass on the beach.

Food is amazing, the service too. My room is spectacular, great view of the pool and the beach!

An impressive hotel, very luxurious, the food is exquisite, however nothing economic. I recommend going up to the tower to admire the sunset, take stunning photos.

Its was a great time! Truly nice, awesome and full of art. Took some great shoots of the place and definitely a place you can't miss. Food was good, but can improve.

Its location within the hotel zone of Tulum. A modern historical building that shelters objects of art worthy of this jewel of the Mexican Caribbean. Always friendly staff.

Food was okay. Definitely better places down the street such as Nomade & Habitas. A bit pricey for the quality of food. A bit too dark. We could barely eat and very uncomfortable outdoor are (chairs & tables). Hotel looks nice though!

We went to breakfast Philosophy, the breakfasts we love, recommend the chilaquiles and arepas with poached egg very complete with an exquisite bakery and excellent service from the staff.

The "Philosophy" restaurant of this hotel deserves a detour. Even if the prices are high, the quality of the service and the kitchen justifies it in the eyes of Mexico. Do not miss to taste the guacamole with grilled crickets! Unusual scenery. Even the toilets are visiting. At least spend a drink there.

Beautiful grounds. We had a day bed by the beach. A requirement of 60$ per person in goods/services from the bar and restaurant. The management stopped me from taking photos of my wife at the resort. So I guess no photos are allowed.

The rooms lack comfort and are not checked regularly.
The restaurants are ok but it's still the same card.

Loved this place! Came here 3 times to chill and have drinks on the beach, beautiful hotel Great service! Joel was amazing very nice and caring! I recommend this place for a chilled day on the beach, didn’t have the chance to eat but hopefully will when I come back to Tulum! ✌

BEWARE OF BED BUGS! I stayed here 4 nights and am covered with bed bugs. They charged us for the stay and I have more than 40 bites from my arms down my back and on both legs! It’s a cool property but do not stay here! Restaurant is also terrible. Food is bland, service is non existent. It takes them 1-2 hours to bring you an omelette. The menu is very limited and unhealthy. There are so much better choices next door at Nomade or Be Tulum. Rooms smelled old like a wet dog. Bed sheets were not changed everyday either.

We came around 7pm for dinner at the restaurant and were turned away at the gate, told that they were "closed. " We were quite disappointed as we'd heard amazing things about the food and ambience. When we asked when they would next be open, they responded in "maybe 2 days. " Strange experience. We ended up next door at Nomade and will only try here again once we understand how restaurant hours for non-guests work, which is unclear from previous reviews and owner responses.

AMAZING experience in Tulum! Beautiful hotel, with very artsy bohemian style vibes! Rooms were beautifully styled & designed with plenty of power outlets. I def felt like I was staying at Pablo Escobar’s home. From the employee’s to the ambiance this place surpassed my expectations. The beach views are breathtaking like nothing I’ve ever seen before. You feel like you’re staying in the place privately (not over crowded at all) & staff were very welcoming, proper and trustworthy. I felt like I was staying at a glamorous artsy mansion and not a normal hotel but in a good kind of way. In addition, safety & security was top notch, they definitely take their guests privacy & security extremely seriously. Everytime we left & returned security was sure to check we were guests to ensure our security, which was extremely comforting especially being out in the middle of the jungle. Also, Food was amazing and having breakfast and dinner on the beach was the best part of It. Yes you’re in Jungle Paradise with a GOREGOUS Beach but might I add the resort also has a secret underground pool to swim in! Aw I simply highly recommend this place to anyone who loves to relax in heaven because it’s heaven on earth! Worth every penny! I plan on returning very soon! Definitely a place I’ll never forget!

One of the hotels most impressive of It was the home of Pablo Escobar.

Ate at the restaurant here. Really eclectic collection of art including Kaws, Kenny Scharf, Wayne White and much more! Really big beach front area and land supposedly was owned by Escobar at some point. Very cool hotel and check out the funky entrance too!

A must visit for art lovers. I couldn't get over the Keith Haring rooms. The dining experience at Philosophy Restaurant by the pool was one of our favorites in Tulum. The chicken mole was the best we've ever had! Elegantly prepared dishes with lots of flavor in an engaging atmosphere.

An amazing beautiful place! Every single corner has a unique artistic designed touch. The energy of this place will certainly make anybody feel a unique experience like no other. The staff service as the food taste is like no other. My stay at this place was one of the very best I´ve experienced.

It is an amazing place, the atmosphere very relaxed, all the staff was attentive and helpful at all times and it is a place where you will enjoy very good music.

I’ve never seen a cooler hotel than this boutique beach-front estate in Tulum. The home once belonged to Pablo Esocabar. It was bought by a private owner, renovated into thirty bungalows, and passionately curated with his private art collection. Un-marked gates off the main road will lead you to a palatial open-doorway. Framing the doorway are enormous satin curtains hanging velvet couches and chairs that float a few inches off the ground as if by magic. Multi-colored hammocks and straw huts dot the beach-front bungalows, and the pool has a secret grotto underneath it; Playboy mansion style. The back bar is curated with ripped and tattered velvet settees, and antique baby dolls onto on stacks of vintage luggage. It’s horror movie, meets MoMa, done with just enough restraint to be awesome instead of odd. One of the thirty private villas will cost you dearly, but it will be an experience unlike any other you can have in the world.
