Great place. Super staff. It is a small paradise surrounded by bigger resorts that don’t seem half as nice. Once there you don’t want to move!

First let me say I don't leave bad reviews, but the management here was the worst I've ever experienced. I actually feel bad for the general staff, which were polite and kind. Do not believe the pictures on the web, the beaches and grounds look nothing like that. They also keep animals in small cages for your "entertainment", horrible. Once I got settled in, I knew that I needed to not stay as long as I originally booked. I went and explained to the front desk, and mentioned how inaccurate their advertising was. I said I was going to try and get an earlier flight out of Cancun, and they told me to let me know when I did. In the mean time I tried to relax and just make the best of the situation. Second day there I had fish tacos that were clearly bad fish and couldn't finish them. They actually smelled foul. I've had amazing fish all over Mexico, even on the streets, this was really bad. Once I found a flight, leaving the next morning, two days early, I told management. They refused to refund both days, but said they would do one. I was told to come that evening and they would start. When I went to the desk around 5, no one from management was there. The staff member that was said to come back in an hour. I came back at 6, and he proceeded to tell me no manager was there, that he texted him, and the manager said he was not coming. Blatant disrespect. I had to leave for my flight at 7 in the morning.

We unfortunately had to cancel our trip and we have been waiting for our refund for over a year and a half. They ignore our emails and voicemails. When we do get a hold of them they always give us the run around. We are extremely disappointed and frustrated with their company.

It's a beautiful little hotel where one can basically roll out of bed and onto the beach to watch the most amazing sunrises. Coffee and cookies are already waiting at the bar… The staff are most helpful and friendly. The food is fantastic and they go out of their way make life easy for the guests. My husband is a vegetarian and he had a different dish every night we were there — specially made for him. I have a feeling that we will visit again. And again. I celebrated my birthday during our stay. The smile on my face tells the story…

Excellent facilities and very helpful waiters, only the food is very bad, in my opinion the fried dads are not daddy's, they taste flour and the arrachera tacos very dry the meat and do not ask you finish. Hence everything great.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They care a lot about the good quality and freshness of food and drinks and have dream cottages and remodeled and comfortable rooms. Its pool and beach are also ideal if you do not like large and all-inclusive hotels looking to relax and rest is an excellent option!

Another great visit with our Petit family! the best staff ever! On top of the best this year was the service we received from the housekeeper who returned my lost necklace and the yard keeper who drew a tortuga in the sand at the bottom of steps to our bungalow! We enjoyed the experience of the Temezcal (sweat lodge) right on the property! The Valentines Day experience on the beach was outstanding, the extra effort by the staff was appreciated!
We have already rebooked for 2021!

I have been coming to Lafitte and its predecessor for decades and every year it is better than the previous visit. 2020 added amazing dining and cocktail adventures. The staff and setting continue to be divine. I feel more at home at Lafitte than anywhere in the world. Thanks to all staff!

Just visited Petit for the 3rd time. The service was once again impeccable lead by David. He greeted us by name & with a hug. Walked us to our room where our bed had been decorated w/ towel origami & flowers. In true Petit form David said “welcome home” as he left. That’s exactly how you’re treated, like family. The service staff is out of this world. 5 ⭐️. From Manuel, Wally, Martin to bartenders Victor Giovani & Chucho, you’re every need is taken care of. (FYI: Victor sells honey from his personal hives) Then there’s the food. As authentic as it gets & made to order. We get excited just thinking about the ceviche mixta and original nachos for lunch. The pool is amazing. Palapas & hammocks. Most importantly, it’s one of the final resorts that actually has a sandy beach. Most have lost theirs to erosion. The views are spectacular. Ocean water invigorating. You can go to an all inclusive and get herded like animals to and from meals and activities or you can come to Petit Lafitte and get treated like family. You can getaway from it all and just relax, rejuvenate, and reconnect with that special someone.

We’ve visited here three time and love it. This is a special place. Great food. Impeccable service. Stunning views. The staff are beyond words. This is home away from home for us.

We just got back from spending a week here. This was the best vacation my husband and I have ever had. The food was excellent and they accommodated my husband, who is a vegetarian. We did not plan much before we arrived and the front desk arranged anything we wanted to do. Everything they suggested was excellent!

We have loved both of our visits to this place! We have been to resorts in the area over 15 times and this is, by far, the best authentic experience with amazing service, food and price. The food ceases to amaze us! And the fishing they arranged was so fun! Posting pics of the ceviche that the kitchen was more than happy to make when we brought in the big catch.

Hotel away from the center of Playa del Carmen, which gives a tranquility to the place.
The reception to the guest is a bit slow.
The bungalows are very nice, they have air conditioning, fan, bathroom (WC, shower, lava), 3 beds and a fridge.
It has a small extension of the beach and swimming pool.
It has a bar and restaurant (quality food and good taste).
The service is excellent.

Excellent service and Caribbean atmosphere make this hotel a good choice for a good rest and relaxation. Close to Playa del Carmen just 10 minutes by car, excellent service and food.

The rooms are comfortable, the food is very good, it is in front of the sea, away from the noise of the city, the best is all the staff of the hotel, make the experience in Lafitte stand out to any other hotel.

We spent a day (well two) here. We were staying close by and came for lunch and to hang out on the beach. We really enjoy it. The food was great, staff were friendly and the beach was lovely… And not rocky like it is along alot of that stretche of beach. Looks like a great place to stay too little bungalows in an oasis of palm trees right on the beach! There's a pool and a playground too… All enclosed and safe for littleuns…!

Excellent hotel, recommended if you plan to go to spend the days in the Riviera Maya.

We had such a fun time at Petit Lafitte. We took the whole family and the kids loved all the men working there. They always made the kids smile each evening at supper. Which BTW, is always over the top food! We were expecting buffet and got full course mexican which was so fun to try and watch our children experience different! Each evening our kids looked forward to seeing all the guys working! The entertainment was always fun although we missed the Mayan dancers. Make sure you don't miss them. We just got back to tbe resort as they were leaving and they looked spectacular. Sad my kids missed them. We were lucky to book a cabana. I think we totally lucked out and our kids loved the loft bed that easily could have held all three of our kids (our daughter claimed it thou! ) We also requested a folding bed since we were unsure how many could fit in the loft. That rolling bed did not disappoint! It was an amazing memory foam. My son quickly and happily claimed that for the week. Leaving our oldest son a queen as well as a queen for us. Then the bathroom was a bonus with a huge walk-in shower. I said oince or twice we all came in from the beach and all climbed in (with suits on of course). The pool was clean and made for good fun too. Our kids actually preferred the pool to ocean to our dismay (you could tell they grew up in nebraska! ). I would highly recommend the tour to t he Coba ruins with the stops that include an authentic family home visit.

A hotel with good sea view and very quiet beach away from the bustle of the center has a large pool, the restaurant is very good, the fish fillets and the shrimps are sensational, the staff always friendly and helpful.

The staff is very friendly, helpful and always in a good mood. The food is delicious, the atmosphere relaxed, the directly accessible beaches beautiful. Room service always leaves a surprise and the drinks at the bar are good (also many non-alcoholic options). If you want to rent a car, the car will be brought directly to the hotel, and taxi service to the city center is also convenient.

Smaller quiter hotel with comfy bungalows situated amongst a beautiful tropical garden. Staff is very friendly and the restaurant, which serves three meals a day, is excellent.

Petit Lafitte is an adorable, quaint and intimate beach-side resort. My highest praise will be for the staff. The complete staff was friendly, hospitable, relatable and were very pleasant. I would commend the staff for having a fun time while waiting on our group's needs. They were a lot of fun, more than you would expect for a resort. The rooms were modest and clean. I would say the rooms are 3-star quality with basic amenities, but honestly you won't be spending too much time in your room. We had friends who stayed in the bungalows, they were nicer than the standard rooms. Location cannot be beat! All the rooms are steps away from the beach. Petit Lafitte is much smaller than your typical resort, which made all rooms very accessible to the beach. I personally enjoyed how small the resort was, but if you are expecting a grand resort with multiple pools and several bars and restaurants this is not the place for you. Breakfast and dinner are included with your stay. Drinks and lunch will be charged to your room. Drinks, snacks and lunch are exceptionally affordable. For example, full-price margaritas are about $4USD, and a plate of guacamole is $3USD. Breakfast was always two-course with continental breakfast and fresh fruit followed by a cooked-to-order breakfast. Dinner was a fixed four-course meal with salad, soup, entree and a dessert. The entree would have you select between a meat or fish dish. Dinners was always high-quality and delicious.

My good friend's got married here. It was an absolutely amazing week. The staff was fun and friendly. Small intimate resorts with everything you could need. Highly recommend.

My family of 3 spent 4 great nights in one of the garden side bungalows. We'd definitely return again. It might have been partly our luck with the time of year we visited (mid March), but it wasn't too busy. Family friendly; yet we could still have the pool to ourselves sometimes and plenty of room to enjoy the beach without being on top of other people. The rooms and premises were very clean and comfortable. The staff works very hard and is super friendly… we never felt like "another number". David helped us line up a few places to tour since we don't really speak Spanish. The food & drink was excellent. Fresh fruit every morning. Our 11 year old daughter raved about the food buffet. (breakfast and are dinner included) The birds and monkeys on site gave the place a real boutique feel which is neat. I hope it can continue to keep it's charm! Muchas gracias!

This place is a needle in a haystack where resorts are everywhere. You get a bungalow, the service is great, Wi-Fi is fast (though signal could be stronger), and has a beach front property. Small and hidden away. Recommend this place to anyone who visits Playa del Carmen!

As part of a wedding group, we went with low expectations, as we generally stay in resort type accommodations when away. We stayed in the bungalow section which can be described as "rustic" in design. Nothing Yancy, no television, just a clean interesting space. Best part was the porch to relax on and the beach sand which comes up to the steps. Loved the bungalows and will return here again!

Petit Lafitte is quiet and quaint. Not the nicest of places to stay. Food and drinks are ok, not great. Don't recommend.

Nice but expensive. Location, meals and ambiance are good but room itself is not quite good in proportion to the price.

This was our 2nd stay at Petit Lafitte. From the moment we arrived until departing in our cab to the airport, we felt like we were vacationing with family! The staff is second to none when it comes to hospitality. The bungalows and the facilities are everything one could hope for. The chefs and servers provided us with 5 Star meals that we looked forward to every day. Aside from being welcomed by the staff, after the first day we became friends with most of the other guests. For us, this is the best place to relax, unwind, have fun and dream about our next visit. If there is anything negative that I could say it is that I gained a few pounds even though Jesus the bartender assured me that there were no calories in Tequila!

The service is excellent. The hotel is facing the beach and both the rooms and the cottages are very cosy. 5/5.

My wife and I just returned from another lovely stay at this jewel of a resort. We've been many times, and always find Petite Laffite our go to place for relaxation — — to get away from the noise and bustle of our busy city lives. Plenty to do if that's your thing: snorkel, shell, swim, sail, shop or fish, etc. But its calling card is relaxation: reading a book in one of the colorful hammocks that lines the property, sipping wine by the pool, beach walks, ocean dips, romantic candlelight dinners. (But hey, if you prefer loud blaring music, noisy drunks at the bar, pretentious waiters and exorbitant prices, there are plenty of resorts that serve that up on the peninsula… we live in NYC, however, so we pretty much get that all the time). But if you're looking for relaxation, reasonable prices, an attentive but not overbearing staff, and the best margaritas and fish tacos around, Petite Laffite might just be your place. And you can enjoy it all amidst the rejuvenative environment of white sands, the warm Mayan sun, and the calm serene view of the azure sea. But be warned, once discovered, you might find yourself returning year after year just as my wife and I do.
