Tribu Hostel

We were staying up the street at Mystique and thought we would stop in on our way back from dinner — for a drink or 2 at their bar. Upon entry it was as if you interrupted someone’s conversation as the entire staff (very young and immature) acted annoyed that we were even there. Nonetheless — still we gave them the opportunity to turn things around. We ordered 2 drinks and took a seat (nothing complicated). Other than someone working on their computer — we were the only other people than the 4 people working. 15 minutes later we got up and left as the staff still had not even attempted to make our drink.

Rooms are good but no curtains. The vibe is top like an island vibe.
Lot of activities you can do.
Good night parties.

Very nice hostel! Rooms were clean, staff were super friendly, and they have lots and lots of organised activities. We joined their salsa course for example, but there is much more every day, such as kayak tours, cocktail courses, parties, yoga, etc.
You can get a very nice breakfast there for only 150 pesos, including a main dish, coffee, juice, and fruits.
I recommend arrival before 9-10 pm because after that the reception is closed.
The location is also great, right at the Center and very close to the beach. There are lots of nice restaurants and bars nearby.

I had a really good stay at this hostel. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always in a great mood, which made the atmosphere very welcoming. They offer excursions at fair prices and organize plenty of activities, so there’s always something fun to do and it’s easy to meet other travelers.
The beach is only a 3-minute walk from the hostel, which is super convenient. From the ferry to the hostel it’s about a 13-minute walk, but you can take a taxi for around 100 pesos if you prefer.
Another nice bonus is that some local restaurants offer discounts if you’re staying at the hostel, which helped save money while trying different places to eat.
Overall, it’s a great place to enjoy the island in a social, relaxed, and fun way. I would definitely recommend staying here.

A very nice hostel with chilled vibes and nice activities such as Yoga, Meditations, Walking dogs, dance lessons and live music. Very close to the beach and super friendly staff.

Awesome spot! I arrived just after a storm went through town, so the streets were flooded. This hotel was close to the beach and restaurant area so it was not a far walk.
Julie at the bar was super helpful and friendly. Overall great hostel 👌

I loved my stay at the Tribu Hostel. The Staff was so Welcome and warm. Especially Manü and santiago, both are so friendly and they always made sure I am having a great stay!
The Location is also soo good! 10/10 💞💫

I had high hopes for TRIBU Hostel, but overall it was a disappointing experience.
I stayed in a private room, which I wouldn’t recommend. It was extremely hot, overly bright, and had no airflow, making it entirely impossible to sleep necessitating that I find another place to stay. When I brought this to the manager’s attention, she pretended to consider a refund while implying it wasn’t her decision. Later, other staff confirmed it was entirely her call. Ultimately, she refused even a partial refund, which felt dishonest and frustrating.
The hostel also isn’t as social as advertised, and the rental bikes were in poor condition.
On a positive note, Santiago at reception was truly wonderful, kind, helpful, and welcoming and the sunset yoga class was excellent (you don’t need to be a guest to pay to attend)
In short: great yoga and lovely front desk staff, but I wouldn’t stay here again—especially not in a private room as there are cheaper and far superior options near by. Maybe the dorms are better but do not waste your money on a private room.

Cute hostel, very close to the beach and center of Holbox. The dorms have AC and fans which is great. Showers are clean. Cool mega hammock!

Great, friendly hostel. Free coffee and water, and good sized dorms. Attracts a lovely friendly but chilled vibe. A bit quiet if you’re looking for a party but on the whole a solid hostel.

I wanna give a huge Thank you to Santiago. He is a reliable guy. I forgot my iPad and before I realized he had been trying to contact me. By the time I realized it missing he had it safe in the reception. That’s what good service is simply. No more words 5 stars flawless check in-. In and out. This is a trusted hostel. The cleaning ladies are amazing especially if you give them a small tip for their hard work (you don’t have to). Everyone is friendly even the gang of raccoons 🦝. 5 🌟

This is a lovely hostel! It is so easy to meet new people here because they have so many fun, original and nice activities. The first night I just joined the sunset walk and then met already super fun people. I also love the free yoga in the morning, the music activities in the evening, the walking the dog activity and everything really. The people who work there are super nice. The rooms are clean and air conditioned. The kitchen is quite big so you could easily cook there.
The only thing I didn’t like was the lockers and that your whole backpack needed to fit in there because there was no other space. That is so inconvenient and you have to make a lot more noise as well in the evening. I’d rather have just space for my valuables and that I can put my backpack somewhere else.

Great hostel. One of the better ones. Very spacious, clean and enough things to do. Close to the beach and city center. They also have a washing service for 200 pesos. And the reception speaks English well. Only improvement might be bed curtains.

Tribu is such a vibe! Great people, great activities. Perfect location for holbox.

Overall, I wouldn’t stay in a private room here again. Our room smelt like sewage, it was coming in through our shower pipe. It was bad. We also didn’t have curtains on our upper windows and that was a HUGE bummer. The lights in the hallway/stairwell are very bright and I couldn’t sleep until they were turned off.
While I would say the tours, staff, location were all fantastic. I booked a private room to get a little more peace and quiet and that was just not the case here. I loved the actual hotel and staff, but I hated my room. I wish I booked at the dream hotel next door that was just slightly more expensive.
The music was also super fun but they do blast the music. It turns off at 12 so it’s not that bad, but I really wasn’t expecting it to be that loud. They do music multiple nights a week.

I had a great time staying at Tribu Hostel in Holbox. The staff was super friendly and always happy to help with anything I needed. The hostel offers lots of fun activities, which made it really easy to meet great people from all over. The atmosphere was lively, social, and welcoming. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and memorable stay in Holbox!

Good hostel for social and relaxing! the social element is great as there’s daily yoga and other free activities. We did enjoy our stay here a lot for the main areas but some problems need resolving.
The kitchen is big but the actual outside of the fridge needs a good clean. It doesn’t look like the handle of the fridge has ever been cleaned and there is no microwave.
The rooms are ok. Hostels without curtains are odd to me, so it is difficult to have any privacy. The bed was comfy but my boyfriend and his dorm mates had plug sockets which didn’t work at all. They reported on first day and nothing was done about it. There aren’t enough showers or communal toilets. The bathroom door got stuck and remained locked during the night in his dorm also which meant they couldn’t use the bathroom in the middle of the night.
Like I said earlier, it is a really great hostel but could be amazing if they sorted out these issues quickly. I also found it very strange that we had to strip our own bed at the end of the stay; surely that’s included in the price?
