Nômade Temple Holbox

I never expected to fall in love with such a magical place. From the kindness of soul working there, to the soul food, pod of dolphins and magic waters treatment, I cannot wait return. Nomade brand has a formula of creating incredible hotels that blend into nature and make you feel like a part of the ecosystem. The peace and relaxation here was unmatched. Thank you to Angus who made each day a worry free by taking care of every detail. Counting the days until I can return.

We didn't stay at the hotel, but we dined at their restaurant. This review is for a very inconvenient situation. We went with bicycles. They told us to lock our bicycles because they offer theirs to guests. Which we did. Still, our bicycles were taken, and the lock were some how opened, and left at the front desk. They said there was nothing they could do, except to text us when the bicycles are back. They called us a taxi, but didn't offer to pay for it. They did text us that the bikes are back later that night, we went to pick them up with a taxi in the morning. That was 400 pesos taxies, and missing our bikes planned after dinner activities. They didn't even offer a discounted breakfast. For a hotel, and a restaurant charging such high prices, I expected much better handling of that situation.
On a completely separate note,
I also find it very ironic that a hotel charges 400 to 600 usd a night, calls itself a Nomad's place!

This was our second time staying at Nomade Holbox, and it remains one of the most special places we’ve ever visited. For us, it’s honestly a 20/10 experience.
Nomade has a very unique atmosphere — everything feels thoughtful, intentional, and created with a lot of care. It’s a place where slowing down happens naturally. You can truly disconnect, relax, and reset.
What makes it stand out are the conscious events and daily offerings. Many of them are included, and they add so much value to the stay — from movement and wellness sessions to more mindful experiences that make the whole environment feel inspiring rather than just luxurious.
The trainers are wonderful, the staff is warm and genuinely kind, and you feel welcomed from the moment you arrive. The beach is absolutely beautiful and perfectly matches the calm energy of the hotel.
It helps if you feel connected to nature and appreciate a more organic, grounded kind of luxury — this is not a classic resort, but something much more soulful.
We stayed both in the Treehouse and in the Moon Temple, and both rooms were stunning in their own way — beautifully designed, peaceful, and perfectly integrated into the surroundings.
Nomade Holbox is one of those rare places you keep wanting to come back to.

While Nômade Temple Holbox offers a beautiful concept with lush botanical surroundings, unique villas and treehouses, our overall experience was disappointing for a five-star hotel. Cleanliness standards were below expectations, staff were often unfriendly and not very responsive, and restaurant management was frustrating, especially on Christmas Eve when hotel guests could not get a table. Food options were limited and overpriced, and basic amenities such as bottled water were poorly handled. The hotel has strong potential, but significant improvements are needed to match its positioning.

I had been wanting to stay here for years and finally decided to splurge and got the Path to Holbox package and every penny was more than worth it. Everything was PERFECT from the beginning until the end of our trip.
The 3hr transportation from the airport to the island was comfortable and seamless. We were welcomed by the delicious scent of copal and low light that enhanced the branch-made architecture and created a magical atmosphere. Misuri at the front desk was lovely, warm and welcoming throughout the check in process, and they even had bug repellent ready for guests since everything is open-air. Including the en-suite bathroom which made you feel really connected to the environment while showering “outside”. Everything we ate at the gorgeous restaurant by the sea was delicious and all the staff was super friendly!
The highlight for us were the spiritual/wellness activities which were life-changing. Their Michelin recognition is well earned, absolutely everything was thought of and perfect. We had the most peaceful, restoring and romantic vacation of our life at Nomade.
This place is nothing short of magical and I can’t wait to go back!

Holbox is a different experience. Not average. This hotel is very far from average. Unique, creative architecture and decor. The staff is amazing. Food, excellent. The background music is pleasant and unobtrusive. For those who want to "get away, " this may be perfect. Be aware that flies and mosquitoes are unavoidable. Staff do their best to help, but insect repellent might be a good idea.

We absolutely loved this spot. Beautiful decor. Very friendly staff. Environmentally conscious and thoughtful touches. The food was incredible. Massages with Eduardo and Flor were exceptional. We loved yoga, sound bath…. Such a wonderful spot off the beaten path for relaxing for a few days.
I would love if there was a bit more light in our room as it was hard to read so bring something. They are very thoughtful about having bug repellent and managing it on the property but maybe pack something for this too.

Unforgettable Honeymoon. Everything was amazing from the moment we arrived, starting with Eric at the front desk. The welcoming, the attention to detail, he set the tone for our entire 4 night stay. Beautiful vibe (the music, the copal scent) and well thought out hotel and rooms. I loved the tree house room (#9) with outside shower, the terrace on top, the open screen restroom, the view and the location. The restaurant also leaves an impression due to the amazing staff, but especially hostess Angie, servers Andy, Raimonds and Nayib who made us feel like we were the most important guests, every day. Naomi at check out, made the process pleasant and easy. Will highly recommend to everyone, any chance we will get.

During my stay, the overall experience at the hotel was very good. The staff was incredibly attentive — even before my arrival and all the way through to check-out. The hotel itself is beautiful and harmoniously integrated with the surrounding nature. The beach area where it's located is spectacular and very peaceful. The restaurant is also excellent.
However, a few days after leaving the hotel, I noticed a mistaken charge of $600 USD on my card made during check-out. I contacted the hotel to clarify the situation, and they acknowledged the error and assured me they would process the refund. Unfortunately, a month has passed and despite multiple follow-ups, I still haven’t received a response or the refund.

I loved this hotel. The food is amazing and the hotel staff are wonderful. Located in absolute paradise on the most beautiful part of the beach that I saw. A little away from the town but still an easy walk to it on the beach or via a quick trip on a golf cart taxi. I would go back in a heartbeat and hope I get to do so soon.

Stay away from these Scammers, we booked through Amex Travel like we have done for many years. It is currently really.
Low season, the hotel was not only a ghost town but they were mad we did not use their $440 USD round trip private little boat to the island when we got the round trip high end ferry for $59 USD. When we got there they did not upgrade our room even though the hotel was empty. When we asked about the possibility of the upgrade they said they would have to check “availability” for the next day. The next day we got upgraded to a beach front room for $150USD because money was never an issue. Having late check out with Amex at 4pm, after 3 days staying in that ghost town they said they had no problem honoring it since the hotel had availability. When our checkout date came they only honored it until 1 pm and charged $70USD per hour until 4 pm. The manager never showed face because he knew that he was in the wrong and they were playing foul changing their stories, policies and protocols to their convenience to scam us of more money. Again if they would have told us from the start we would have agreed and paid it, it was their constant story changing to their convenience to make a quick dollar. Stay away from this place. 0/10

My stay at Nomade was absolutely incredible. I found the offering for Nomade to get us to the hotel incredibly expensive and found it easy enough through my own means. Upon arriving, the staff were so friendly and genuine. They made us feel at home immediately. The rooms were fantastic, clean and well designed. The restaurant is well located with great food. A special mention goes to our waiter on most days, victor, who was just the most wonderful waiter. There were only 2 very minor points to counter a huge list of positives. 1. The bottled water was very expensive at around $12USD for a 750ml bottle and 2. I see tipping as a token of gratitude when someone goes above and beyond, every bill here in Nomade has 15% added to an already fairly pricey (for Mexico) food menu. I like to choose the percentage rather than have it forced onto me as the tip then becomes expected rather than deserved. Thankfully in this case, every waiter was fantastic and deserved every cent, I would just prefer the choice.
Overall a 10/10 hotel and I wish we stayed for longer!

Our experience at this hotel was very disappointing.
Room Cleanliness and Comfort: While the room was aesthetically pleasing, it was not properly cleaned. The fan was full of dust, shampoo and lotion bottles were not closed properly, and the bed had not been made by 7pm. The lighting was so poor that we had to use our phone flash to see inside our bags.
Breakfast: The breakfast was very limited. Only black coffee, eggs with two sides, and a small basket of four breads (not enough for each person to have one of each type) were provided, and the breads were heated in the microwave. Guests had to choose between a small glass of fruit juice or six fruit slices. Additional bread had to be paid for, which felt unreasonable.
Privacy: There was no privacy—opening the curtains meant anyone outside could see inside the room.
Service: Some waiters never smiled, though one or two staff were friendly. Receptionists were nice, but despite all our complaints during the stay, nothing was offered in response, except the bread baskets we refused to pay for.
Overall, the stay was far below expectations.

Very disappointing stay at Nomade. For such a high price per night, the service is far below expectations: one day our room wasn’t cleaned, no coffee or tea in the room, air conditioning issues, and the breakfast is shockingly limited — you have to choose between juice or fruit, only four small pieces of bread (extra is charged), and just one coffee per person.
Hard to believe a hotel like this has a Michelin recommendation.
The only positive note is the kind receptionist and one waitress.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in the rooms with a direct access to the beach and this was a magical experience.
The restaurant of the hotel was very convenient for breakfast and dinner when we had the pleasure of being served by Ray who was very friendly and full of recommendations to make our stay the best.
Only improvement point is the lack of turn down service in the room. But netherless we had a fantastic time and will come back!

We came to disconnect, and this hotel certainly helps doing that. The first day I was told they don’t sell soda at the botel because is a wellness hotel. Far fome conolaining I found this opportunity to disconnect from my not healthy habit of drinking cola.
The service, the detail in the attention (feels great you are called by your name). The restaurant is amazing: everything we tried was spectacular we were served by Cristy, Daniela, Victor and Isai…to each of them a big thank you!
The room was great, although the restroom is a little small we ended up loving it. The outside shower is great!
We cannot say enough good things about this hotel…we will come back sooner than later!

Our stay at Nomade was nothing short of amazing! We had high expectations and they more than exceeded them. The hotel is beautiful and the people there are even more beautiful. Everyone is kind and helpful and they treat you like family. Holbox quickly became one of our favorite places. We will be back!
