Mapache Hostel

Great hostel. Location was amazing. 2 minute walk to the beach and the main town area. Dorms were spacious enough. Free breakfast and coffee was a great bonus. The place had a chill vibe and all the staff were lovely. I would go back there.

What a vibe! Didn’t expect to feel so at home in Mapache Hostel. It’s got everything you would possibly need — clean rooms & spaces, chill hammocks, good breakfast, daily activities and just the best people. All of the volunteers are just super nice & helpful (shoutout to you guys: Sam, Pablo, Franky, Denisse & Bianca). Still cannot believe I came there without any expectations and left with what I now call friends. Biggest thanks from my heart to the sweetest soul Sam🫶🏼! My Holbox experience would not have been the same without you :) )

One of the best places I've stayed at in Mexico. The hostel has a great location, close to the center and the beach! The vibe is great, lots of activity options, free breakfast which changes every day. All the staff is super friendly and welcoming. Special thanks to Sam, who will definitely put a smile on your face with his funny nature and who is ALWAYS there to help.

I had an absolutely incredible time during my stay — everything was excellent from start to finish. The atmosphere of the hostel was welcoming and vibrant, but what truly made the experience unforgettable were the people. Sam, in particular, went above and beyond to make me feel not only comfortable but truly at home. His kindness, attentiveness, and positive energy created such a warm environment that I immediately felt like part of a family. Pablo was also an amazing host — friendly, helpful, and always ready to share a smile or a great recommendation. If you're looking for a place that offers more than just a bed, but a real human connection and unforgettable memories, I wholeheartedly recommend this hostel. And if you have the chance to meet Sam, you're in for something special — he's truly one of a kind and made my experience one I’ll always treasure.

I had an amazing time in Mapache Hostel! All the staff is sooo beautiful! Like a little family. They will make you feel at home. They were all very friendly and helpful especially Sam and Pablo :) ) ) the location is also super nice. 5 min walk to the beach and also very quiet at night. The beds are comfortable and lots of communal area.
That being said I would go back there without hesitation!

I really loved this place. I kept on extending every day and I tried almost all the accommodations there. Each one is comfortable and the position of the hostel is perfect. But what makes this place so good is the vibe and the people, both guests and staff. It was like a family in a very chill and slow atmosphere. A special thanks to Zamuel🤍 and Pablo, that were simply amazing.

We stayed for three nights and it was really nice. Bathroom are super clean. Staff are super kind also. Breakfast are good.

Highly recommended! We really enjoyed our days in Mapache. The tents are very comfortable, the space is perfect to relax, people are cool and the staff super friendly ❤️

Located 3 blocks from the beach and the staff were so helpful in reccomending things To do on the island, they were all very knowledgable. The rooms were good but the aircon was very weak. Great place to stay. The included breakfast was good.

Loved staying at Mapuche — awesome vibes! Slightly limited water in the dormitory rooms, but didn’t detract from a great stay. Hostel staff awesome! Loved the breakfasts.

Mapache Hostel was great for our stay. The staff was very friendly and always offered their help if something was needed!
We also spent one day with Mentsa, one of the receptionists and had a great time with her.
The area outside was perfect to hangout, eat and enjoy the place with the other traveller. There were hammocks to chill and even tables with power outlets, which were very practical.

Lovely Hostel located on a quiet street with a 10 minute walk from the port and 5 from the beach, like everything else all the restaurants, shops etc. Are also not far away. The staff was very friendly, everything was clean and the bads are very comfy. The breakfast is switching and was also good.
You can relax in the garden and have a beer which they are also selling for 35 pesos.

Very friendly and chilled hostel in the heart of holbox. The team are excellent and it has all of the stuff you would expect within a backpackers hostel. I stayes in one of their rustic 'huts' which was sizeable and fairly cool with the fans. Breakfast was decent and different each day and plenty of activities in the evening.

We had a great time at Mapache Hostel. We stayed in the tent and it was just like we had seen in the pictures. All the staff was very nice and attentive, breakfast was supertasty, showers were good and the resting area was perfect to take a break during the day. We definitely recommend it!
